I still play CoH, I really don't find it that unbalanced, especially not if you leave ToV out of it as she touched on, their are some cheap tactics for sure (triple vet Knights Cross, flamethrower or motorcycle spam early game, ect) But each one is pretty easy to counter.

OT, $10 seems about right given the trend right now, better the $15 for DE:HR that was like 3hr of game play. $3 for skins is decent as well if done well, be interested to see how LOTD and AL turn out. I just hope their is still a community for this game come December.

I could never get Americans to work for me. I loved Panzer Elite though. Those guys were fun to play with.

Then I downloaded Blitzkrieg mod and the game turned out to better fit my sensibilities

Only thing I've ever used has been the US Airborne.

It's really nasty if you use airdropped AT guns well. Stopped a Panzer Elite rush cold with a decent rally point and a good ambush point.

Yeah, I use airborne or infantry, never used armour...

Either way I still preferred to use riflemen over the actual Airborne infantry, mostly because of cost and upkeep issues.

10 bucks? Pass. As it's been said, the game didn't have nearly enough content to start with, and exterminatus didn't add that much. My money and time are going elsewhere.

It throws you into an arena based off levels in the game with up to three other people. You pick your multiplayer character loadout, the game throws wave after wave or orcs at you. That's about it.

So its like Firefight, Horde mode, or Survival? neato

Airborne was awesome in 3v3 or 4v4 so I could harass the hell outta armor, but never did well with them in stand up fights, I normally run vanilla Wermacht with Terror. If anyone one still plays I'll boot it up sometime, it has been a month or so I think.

It's official, I think I'm jinxed. I can't seem to get past Wave 19 :/

As for the DLC, I'm pretty excitied for the Chaos Horde mode...I wonder what they'll throw at us...just oodles of IG and Psykers until the Ultramarines show up in the last few waves??? Need to know more!

I only made it to level 21 once and got wiped out quick.. I dunno if we just got lucky, of the rest of my team was just hella awesome (because I know I suck).

At this point I'm more excited about being able to beat up guardsmen a chaos marine.. orcs are so v1.0.

fully charged plasma is overrated, fire a few low power ones then switch to bolt pistol, dodge/run, and repeat.

really tac marines are the expects at taking down nobs, devs are more for the hordes.
i'm starting to warm up to plasma as my primary, just stay away from charged shots and it lasts a long while, and ammo pickups are a larger majority of your max ammo.
the trick to the higher waves, and 21, is not letting the ranged guys stack up too much

50 mobs spawn, 40 mellee and 10 ranged
you kill 40 ranged, 40 more spawn, 35 mellee and 5 ranged

eventually by the end you have a huge stack of ranged guys that are largely unapproachable. (esp if they are chaos and have huge regenning shields)

In terms of DLC, I would have rather them gone creative and make maps that are based on things outside of the storyline.

For example playing chaos you get a catachan map. Waves consisting of catachan guardsmen and sentinels, with dangerous terrain all around you. You could possibly throw in orks if you must.

I'd pay for that. I'm not paying to be a chaos space marine and kill countless guardsmen like I did in the campaign.

If you don't remember the traitor guards towards the end of the game, then you need to keep playing the game after you killed the warboss.

However, the traitor guard weren't as competent as the nromal guard. Why ,the normal guard could withstand so many shoota slugs it wasn't even funny!

Not exactly. IIRC the first guardsmen you run in to were invincible too.

The first guardsmen I met died when I got to them (they were swarmed). But I think the ones that are there to give you directions are invincible, or at least a couple of them are.

Finally got to play the game today. The single player is allright, though I see where the scenario is going already. After getting into the inquisitor's lab I stopped playing and moved on to multiplayer. Had loads of fun stomping around with a heavy bolter, that weapon feels as awesome as I thought it would be. After a few seize ground games I went to try Exterminatus.

I encountered a bug while using the matchmaking service (on PC mind you). I kept being put into parties that were stuck on "Starting game" with the countdown showing 00:00. Had to quit and find another game a few times before getting into an actual game; annoying. Also lost connection while in the game a couple times. But once in it was just awesome sauce.

Got to wave 21 on the 3rd or 4th game, from start to finish (we wiped once those powermaul bastards showed up), 2 assault 1 tac and 1 dev (me). It was a pug but we tried to keep together as much as we could (when necessary, the first few waves were easy enough to just flail around really). We even typed words in chat! (crazy, i know) Starting from the 2nd area the tac and I stayed together while the jetpackers were running amok. I don't know whether they were using comms or not but we always ended up with the tac and me on a point and the assaults covering the other(s). It felt good to have a bit of teamplay going after the apparent mess the seize ground maps were.
The map was a very open one, the attack on the Habitat I think? Starts in a canyon then moves in a huge coliseum then an even bigger coliseum with rubble in the middle. I'd say the 20 waves were easy, only died once and it was my fault, got stuck like an idiot and got mobbed. I guess the fact the assaults were 41 and 36 and the tac 35 made it much easier. I was level 6, I think I dinged 8 or 9 at the end of it (unlocked the lascannon).

Is there a heavy bolter perk that increases effectiveness against armour? It performed awesomely againts most targets (armoured nobs/shield boys aside) but the traitor marines weren't even tickled, that was shocking haha. I guess the lascannon helps here but since you can't switch loadouts (can you?) mid arena I think going the entire time with the lascannon is a bit pants (unless shots pierce through multiple mobs? that would help a bit with hordes).

The Chaos Exterminatus will be interesting... A sea of flashlight toting guardsmen? Seems a bit weird, unless they really do nothing more than blind you with them

I recommend you do plascan instaed of lascannon, for dealing with the traitor marines. It really strips armor away, letting the tacs/assaults deal the finishing blow with ease.
