that one chap you have uploaded isnt really what i'd call awful..... the painting is crisp and the red looks nice, he just lacks some depth, wich can be easily archieved with washes or highlights.

My first models DID actually look awful, to a degree that i now am extremely ashamed of them. How the feth could i have messed these dudes up so badly??! [sinking feeling]....when you look at your first models again......[/sinking feeling], but my skill improved quite a bit since then

your skill will also improve if you keep painting regularly. Besides, when you have a blog and know people are waiting for updates, you will paint more and get better faster.

you should avoid direct light, because it produces shadows. Put some thin white paper in fron of your lamp, and best usea white background. And try to get the white balance right!

I was simply going to use superior agility. It can't move very fast of its hind legs, and can't turn sharply on all fours, so jusy keep moving. I also have the knowledge to know where to hit it. It will just try to attack. I know that a well timed and aimed strike to the throat will be painful and make it hard to breathe. A strike with a heavy object the base of the skull can kill it. A well placed kick in the knee will be sore and damage its leg. Once I get behind it just punch its tail to anger it and cause it to tire quicker. Simples.

i guess its quite hard to stab an approaching bear while he is swinging his massive paw at you (wich is much longer than your kive arm)
your only chance to kill it would be to have it choke on your bones [sinking feeling]....when you have to look up how to spell choke....[/sinking feeling]

You've never hunted bear, have you? They are not clumsy, they are quite agile, for their size. It's reflexes ARE better than yours. Hitting it without a weapon will do nothing, and punching it in the throat only puts your arm near it's mouth. If you have a heavy object, you have a weapon. If you have a weapon, this is moot because you can kill ANYTHING THAT LIVES with a weapon. You cannot kick it in the knee, that makes no sense. If would have to stand on it hind legs, and for you to be in striking distance, you have to be within it's striking distance, and a single hit from it will kill/maim/permanently disable you. You will NOT get behind it. If it were that poor a fighter, it would not have survived evolution. And really? Punch it's tail?

If humans were able to kill bears unarmed, we would be unstoppable forces of natures that could make a mockery of beasts of any size, back in the cave days. We aren't. Humans weren't really hunters until we started making spears and clubs, and even then, we hunted mostly venison, and even then, we mostly used endurance hunting so that our prey was exhausted to the point of having difficulty breathing.
