Hi there.

Unsure if this goes into the rumor category, but since Wayland games seems to be unable to get a Fortress of Redemption box for me I had a fear it might be an indicator that it was sold out - anyone know any other web shops that still have some in stock? Couldn't find it on maelstrom, but I could be mistaken...

Ordered mine december 7th so really disappointed that it didn't arrive...

Not as far as I know. My FLGS got a fresh shipment yesterday.

Thats somewhat comforting as I can probably get one then. But after googling a bit I found the fortress on Maelstroms site, and they also have it listed as "unavailable". Does the web-shops have a maximum of copies they can sell, or what is going on?

GW might not be shipping any more until the first batch is almost sold out.

Which should be anytime soon, as my FLGS only got like five of them when they came out, and got the new shipment because of high demand.

I got my three from Wayland.

There's a chance that after a while GW won't restock stockists and it'll move to direct only, but we've heard nothing concrete on that.

Fortress of Redemption is a splash release per GW. Only a limited number were sold to independent sellers and distributors. The "lion's share" were retained for sale by GW. After it's gone, it will be sold again next year at this time of year. In the meantime, you can still purchase it from GW Online and there are models still sitting on shelves in many stores.

It was a splash release which meens that FLGS and Indy stockest can get a Limited number of them on one order.

Most FLGS could get 4 total , then after that they can't order any more, same thing happened with the Strong point and Imp Sectors....

Wayland and Warstore due to volume most likly got more then 4 , but only one shipment... now they are GW webstore and Store only.

This is par for the course for many years on limited or splash release stuff.

I'm starting to think that GW is using the term splash release more often to give the impression that something will be a one off item, once it's gone, it's gone, to create hype and consumer interest and frenzied purchasing. I also get the impression they're doing more and more 'splash releases' to force the purchase from them directly which in turn equals larger profit on the item.

Or this could all be in my head.

Hi Guys,

Fortress of Redemption was a Splash Release in UK to indies. Meaning that once GW trade ran out of their allocation that was it. At least until more are allocated.. which often happens. We had sold a few hundred and demand is still very strong for item.

Likely it will go the way of Strongpoint and the last few are sold via GW direct and through stores then for peak periods another production run is created.

Every time we order we try and get an idea of numbers of splash items available at GW trade, and order extras in or not as situation dictates. Its not a perfect system but hey ho. GW dont have real time stock level feeds for us so there is a limit to our abilities.

My FLGS was told we would only ever get 2.

I know we got at least 3 locally. One was purchased for store terrain, and the other two were still on the shelf last I saw.

There are two on the shelf at my FLGS, too. I'd buy one if I could afford it.

$100 is a lot for a single terrain piece, even if it is one of the largest kits they have ever produced.

I can't see them doing anything but a splash release for terrain that's so army-specific. But for converters, this thing is a goldmine. a bitz site would be insane not to buy up every last one that they can get ahold of.

Hm. The official GW site has the Fortress of Redemption listed as "dispatches in 5 to 6 weeks". Is this an indication that they are discontinuing it? Or that it's making a second run to the LGS and perhaps Wayland?

I really don't want to miss out on one of these puppies, but then again I don't want to buy it from GW directly if it won't arrive for 6 weeks, and Wayland Games gets their stock refilled in 6 weeks... What would you do?

After speaking to GW direct the other day to try and order one, I was told that I'd be able to order one from them the end of January as that's when the next order from their manufacturers will get put through. They pretty much confirmed that it's direct only from here on in.

Still, I managed to get one from and independent stockist.

Merry Christmas me!

You can build the Fortress without the DA stuff with a bit of work.

It would be smart to make a generic one with separate bits to customize.

My GF was going to get me one for X-Mas, but it was sold out in the central London GW stores. So No Fortress for me. :(
