I'm trying to decide how to model my spare nob, and I though I might make a different configuration for when I use shootaboyz instead of sluggaboyz. I was looking at the options for the boy squad nob and they are rather anemic: Uge Choppa, Power Klaw and a bosspole. So no TL shoota. However, the rules for giving models Big Shootas and Rokkit Launchas simply state that 1 in 10 "orks" can get them. So, could I give my Nob a Big Shoota in that squad?

In a Society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behaviour is public opinion. But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by "thou shalt not", the individual can practise a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

George Orwell is my hero.

Social Experiment: if you're pissed like me, copy and paste this into your sig, and add a number after it.

Yes, and it's a solid buy as the slugga doesn't provide CC attacks for a PK nob.

Since it says 'Ork' and not 'Boy', I don't see why not. PK/BS should be interesting to model without it looking cumbersome, but could look really cool.

Cool thanks. I'll chuck up a pic or two when I get him modeled.

Yup. The Specials in a Boyz squad can be carried by any ORK not Boy.

It's a (most likely unintended, given how Phil Kelly Writes, which is blindfolded, with his elbows and a 19th century typewriter covered in bananas) fluffy rule as well, as da biggest orkz 'az da most blastiest gunz wot 'av moar dakka!

Must be legal, GW even makes a model (okay, not necessarily true...): Ork Nob with Klaw and Big Shoota. Having said that, I do prefer customised models over GW generics. Can't say I dig the Powerklaw/fist, but hey, that's personal preference - I wouldn't necessarily think a Nob would have any trouble firing the big shoota one handed. Otherwise, awesome! I may need to do a few of these myself (eventually...) Keep it up!

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

For my individualized nob squads, I've done some customizing too - like a nob with a kombi-skorcha on a shoota and a powerklaw.

I don't model them that the klaw is holding the shoota as well, I shave down the shoulder to mount the kombi-weapon / big shoota on differently so it can be fired with one hand...I figure that the nob is big enough and strong enough to fire a big shoota one handed rambo style.

Speaking of which, I continue to take offense at the strength of orks. See the burly muscles on that ork? Well-defined plastic muscles...bulging out....and he couldn't win an arm wrestling contest against a firewarrior or an imperial guardsman with that base strength 3.

Despite the size of the gun, you are right: The Ork could probably hold the gun on his own. I just didn't want to leave the fist hanging there. IT also makes him look more engaged in the act of shooting something. IF you look at the AoBR Boyz, they all look like they are just trying to be scary, and not really engaged in any ass-handing.

In reality, the fist isn't really holding the gun. It looks more like he is pressing a button or something. I was originally trying to get him to hold it, but the only way to do that was for him to hold the gun sideways, or at least pointed down some. This gives me an idea though: I could attach a little handle to the side of a gun. That would make it look like it was intended to be held from the side like that.

(I also agree that Orks are not strong enough. That has always really bothered me.)

In the Webway.

Wow, i didn't know you could give your Nob a big shoota or rokkit launcha, i'm probably never going to give any of them to a nob, but hey. Goes to show you learn something new every day.

And the model looks great. Really indimidating. Great job!!

That's one great-looking mini. Great looking chaos mini, but great onetheless
Chaos gun (with chaos iconography) + chaos fist (with the 8-pointed star) + chaos helm kinda takes a left turn form the Orky aesthetic.

I have been inspired to do a more standard setup for my first big shoota Nob and it looks freaking great, even with the standard bits from the Ork boy mob set. Got him posed big shoota barrel down and klaw in the air with the screaming one-eyed head is spot on for a warcry.
