I had to join just to point this out as people are paying too many points for their dakka fexes.

The codex states- replace any set of scything talons with... twin linked devourers with brain leech worms- ** points per model

you only pay once per model if you want one set or two, you don't pay twice you just pay once for one set as it says replace any set of scything talons. The cost isnt given per set its given per model.

All that happens is you take one set of devourers and you lose reroll all cc misses if you take two sets of devourers you lose the ability to reroll failes 1's in cc... and even then at ** points less totally at 175 it is still too expensive points wise to use.

Any set, as in the one set or the other set.
Not any sets or any number of sets.

And on that note, the Hive Tyrant has the ability, it would seem, to trade in its Lash Whip and Bonesword for Scything Talons for free, then turn back around and trade both sets of Scything Talons that he has for two sets of twin-linked devourers. 12 Str 6 shots with a reroll to hit could be fun.

well thats how i would do it consdiering the rip off prices in points we are now paying for our tyrants and carnifexs, and i'm sure no one will argue with that considering the cost of a model that dies to krak missiles on a 2+, the wording on the hive tyrant doesn't state per model but i would still take it as 15 points all in as it says replace any set with. Replace any set, not ** points per set as in the old codex. Your just losing rerolls to change one set and rerolls on 1's to change both.

Your losing very good abilities on a cc monster by giving a tyrant shooters though.

Its not quite the same, the wording for lascannons is much more straight forward.

I'm sure plenty of people will now have house rules at gaming clubs for a more reasable points cost for carnifex anyway... its such a blatant and shocking tact to sell trygons that even none nid players will agree.

It's also not the same as "one set" which is what the other options say. If they wanted to limit you to one set of devourers they would have said "one set" not "any set."

I don't think anyone said you can't get two sets of Devourers, just that you don't get the second set for free.

No, you do not get to get a second set of Devourers for free because you think the Carnifex is overpriced.

Maybe we shouls apply this rule to GW sales too, Carnifex are too pricey at £30 so if I buy 2 do I get one free?

Just re-read the pertinant page. You could only get the second weapon for free unless you pushed the english language beyond what it is, and used French to justify why they can't eat cake. God bless the Queen

"Any set" is singular. It does not need to say any one set, unless they want to remove an option to replace both sets.
