Yeah, so I've been trying to come up with a balanced army list for Tyranids, and seeing as I haven't even played 40K before, I wanted your opinions.
To make this simple; I'm trying to get a fast start in the game so I can start playing better faster. In order to accomplish this, I want to have a good 1000-2000 pt. army. Preferably balanced, but I'd settle with a close-quarters primary. So, yeah, let me know what you guys think.

A few things that a good list should have:
Hive Guard
Tervigons
Trygon
The rest is really up to you, but those three elements, IMO, belong in any serious Nid list as they give you solid scoring, shooting and assault elements.

Termagants with Devourers. Pricey, but worth it in my estimation, especially in a mycetic spore. And in another spore, Tyranid Warriors with a Tyranid Prime.

Yeah, so, like, I'm not really 'in' on the new codex, so I don't know what a Tyranid Prime is. Except if it's in the less recent one, then I guess I just failed majestically.
