I was thinking, how good would an ork army do against two Punishers and a Stormlord? XD
The punisher is Strength 5 AP 0 HEAVY 20!
And the Stormlord is strength 6 AP 3 Heavy 15.
I think the ork are screwed.

I think the orks should be more scared of Eradicators (str 6 Ap 4, large blast, ignores cover).

Either option is fairly bad against hordes.
Punisher - 20 Shots - 10 Hits - 6.66 Wounds - 3.33 Kills with cover each - Congrats you killed maybe 40 points of Orks
Stormlord is overkill for Ork Hordes, and will kill even less than a single Punisher unless its BS 4
Large Blasts are a much better option, and generally cheaper.
The Manticore throws up to three of them a turn, cheaper than a Punisher, and able to instakill nob bikers as well if necessary. AP 4 means nothing other than mega armor nobz get an armor save.

I would like to point out that Stormlord is a super heavy tank? It shoots 15 times. 8 hits. No armor save.
And boys can only take one wound. So all wounded would be dead. Automatically Appended Next Post: And also, the manticore would be a bad choice. It has 4 shots per game, STR 10 AP4, and Large Blast. It can only fire one rocket a turn. The eradicator would be better.

The manticore fires one rocket that generates d3 blast markers per turn.
Sure, it gets to fire 4 times per game. That's pretty damned good considering a game only lasts a little longer than 4 turns most of the time anyways.

If the orks are in battlewagons those weapons will be ineffectual. Obviously if they're on foot they're screwed.

In the codex it says (I have a codex open in front of me): "A Manticore Rocket Launcher typically carries a rack of four rockets. Make a note each time a rocket is fired. Once the Manticore has fired four times it has run out of ammunition. It cannot be re-armed and hence cannot be fired again during the same game. Note that only a single rocket can be fired by the Manticore each turn."

And each rocket resolves as d3 blast markers.

And that single rocket spreads into 1-3 blasts. You can place up to 12 blasts with a single manticore in one game, and the average is 8 - more than any other normal tank. It is awesome against pretty much everything. Punishers are pretty much the opposite, being bad against everything

Up to 3 large blasts. A d3 averages at 2, but it could be 1 or 3.

The black reach rule book is all over ebay and other sites. Cheap and easy to get ahold of with all of the rules needed to play a game.
How does the Executioner stand up to the Manticore? For Marine armys that is? Is there a regular GW model for a Manticore yet? I think there's a forge world one, isn't there?

Awww gawd... No, I don't think any ork list has anything to fear from 2 Punishers and a Stormlord. That's what? 710 points before upgrades? 710 points that will kill about 60 points of Orks a turn, for 3 turns before the orks get into close combat and wipe them out. If you have Super Heavies on, then all the Ork player has to do is take a Stompa along with his Kan Wall. This is assuming you aren't near Apoc level and playing around 1750.
Templates are for breaking down hordes, and solid shooting is only good for finishing them off.
And I'm going to try to ignore you not having the rulebook. Honestly! Its like buying Halo 3 and not having an Xbox... see? Couldn't stop myself.

I play footslogging orks, so yeah, blast marker spam is a pain. Lately I've dabbled in mech ork wonderland, and thats a different situation. The hole in the blast marker generally scatters off target and the weapon str is halved.
What I would fear is something that can put out a lot of accurate antitank shots, KFF or no, and still have the mobility to manouver around BW front armour to either cripple them or the trukks behind... voila, the Vendetta.
Theoretically it would be smart to load up on as many autocannons as you can, since they can deal with both light transports, deffkoptas and footsloggers, but since mech orks generally only give you armour value 14 to shoot at this is only partially true. ACs can still work wonders with against a kan wall, though, since you'll need volume of fire to get through that KFF.

Everyone's forgetting that the Stormlord can fire 30 shots with the Vulcan if it dosen't move, which is sure to put quite a dent into the Ork Horde.
For the best Anti-Ork weapon, I would nominate the Manticore.
(And why is everyone so scared of Nob Bikers. Seriously, almost every weapon is rated on how it can kill them. I've faced them many times and usually take them out before Turn 2-3, so I don't see what the big deal with them is)

Unless they're in cover, and when planning tactics in 5th ed you ALWAYS assume they will be in cover.
So 15 shots, 8 hits, 7 wounds, 3-4 saves. So lets assume you have a medium size ork mob with power klaw starting six inches on the board (and boss pole too, what the hey its still about a tenth of the points of the stormlord) AND the stormlord gets turn 1. first shots kill 4 of 20, leaving 16, no leadership check yet. They move out of cover (lets say 4 inches) and run (lets say we roll under average for a 2). This puts them 12 inches across the board. The Stormlord fires again (lets say he was lucky and didn't have to shoot through ANYTHING). So this time you get 7 deaths. Now that will involve a leadership check but its a re-rolled leadership 9 check, so they're almost always gonna pass. The orks then move 6 inches, Waagh 3 and assault 6. That means they are now 27 inches across the board and most likely smashing multiple strength 9 attacks against the rear armor. This is what will happen half the time. Now imagine if there were two boy squads...

30 S6 shots? 15 hit, 13 wound, 6 make it through cover. That 350 point tank will kill 36 points of Orks. You'll kill a total of 108 points before the Orks get their Powerklaws up your tailpipe.

I nominate... the vulture! Quad rocket pods, for 155 points, thats 4 large blasts a turn, on a flyer with hover mode. Playing "Can't Touch This" on their turn and saying "Stop! Rocket time!" in your shooting phase is entirely optional.
For a non-forgeworld option, take valkries with multi-rockets and proceed to move 12" a turn and fire all your weapons.
