I've been thinking of using Sergeant Bastonne in my Guard army, seeing as it is a Cadian regiment, plus all the troops are Veterans (obviously)

I don't know if he is worth using, seeing as he is able to use some of the best Order's there are, especially if you use "Bring it Down" and "Fire on my Target" with him in a Plasma gun squad (Twin-Linked Plasmaguns, hmm less chance of killing the user, yes please )

So has anyone used Sergeant Bastonne in a game and found him usefull or is he a complete waste of points?

Bring it down will only help when shooting tanks and MCs, remember.
I consider him a waste of points. He will just make his squad the obvious target, particularly if all your other squads are veterans too.

Ive never played him, he didnt seem worth while. I like Harker though, if youre looking for some flavor. Can infiltrate him with his hbolter and a lasgun and mess with people, some interesting options there.

I like Bastonne in list that exclusively uses Veterans. He provides orders and a more solid objective holder for a list that otherwise lacks them. It comes at a premium, but you have to think of him like an HQ choice.

I think ph34r has it here. If Bastonne really makes his squad that much more powerful (dubious), he will simply move them higher on your opponent's target priority. Veterans are easy enough to kill that the expense is probably not worth it.
