Subject: If you could have ANY animal for a "guard dog"

I want a dog that barks enough to wake me up, and then gets the hell out of the way of direct LOS between me and the BG.

Yeah humans are the most obvious answer, unless you can pick a fictional animal, like Godzilla, or a shark with lungs and legs? Those fethers are all teeth.
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

You remember those bombs the Russians stuck to dogs to make them anti-tank dogs. I would do that with a border collie.
'Ah dog! Wait, he looks pretty friendly...'
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

If my Guard Frazzled ever turns into a cuddly Granpa type, we're setting him up the bomb.
"Go, Grandpa, go! Hugs!"
"I hugs the tank!"
Boom.

Funny story:
They keep finding more and more evidence that seems to point towards the damn thing being real. About a year back, they found a heavily burnt yak carcass that had no trace of the standard damage from a lightning strike--but had 'teeth' marks from something unidentifiable.
Moral of the story: Don't feth with Mongolia.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now." - Magnus the Red, to a statue of Leman Russ
