Welcome to dak dakยก For a better response to this question post it in 40k general discussion board. I dont play Eldar very often so cant tell you. Since you are a noob here this is your first warning but if you post in the wrong section again the MODs will hunt you down and put a flaming bag of dog poop on your front door stoop!

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

What ho! Eldar psychic powers as a rule have some subtle effect on your own units (with a few exceptions like destructor - guess what that does). For example, guide enables one of your units to re-roll their to hit dice for shooting.

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

Welcome to Dakka

Doom lets you re-roll "to wound" rolls against an enemy unit
Fortune lets you reroll saves for one of your units
guide lets to reroll "to hit" rolls for one of your units
eldritch storm is a S3 AP- large blast
mind war lets you pick a single enemy model and potentially kill it.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka

Mind War is pretty cool.
But you want Fortune and Doom at least.

They seem to me to be far from a "fun" experience.
They kill your units or prevent you from touching theirs, nothing subtle or "eldarish" about that.

The eldar power builds rely on psychic powers and their special rules deny the opponent the effective means to counter said psychic powers, its a boring and cheesy codex and I long for its remake.
Competitive eldar armies are drop dead boring to face and equally cheesy.
