Take it one squad at a time! I totally spurned this advice when it was given to me a year and a half ago (as I attempted to get back into the hobby with Tyranids).
I bought everything, tried to removed the mold lines on ALL of it before assembling (and that included 100 gaunts) and ended up giving up and trading it off.
One squad at a time... FTW!
Oh, and...

Another tip is to just really believe in what you're painting. It's fun to convert up the models, but I think the painting part is more intimidating. Sometimes you just have to go for it!
So thin out the paints a little bit, and just have at it

It really is the scary part of Warhammer Models I am not going to lie! But thanks for all the kind words...Everyone I am glad to be on Dakka and I hope to make my stay here sweet as gak, filled with photos and tons of questions!
