The metal one will likely become a collectors item so if you want a nice shelf ornament or paperweight that might come and smash a few things sometimes i would get it if so desired

You're going to convert the metal one? You are indeed a fool. That is not a dreadnought, it is a 5lb paper-weight.

Now now. I quite enjoy the old Ven Dread. It looks DIFFERENT and OLD like it should. This new model looks like an over-decorated regular Dread, not an old one.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

To each his own, obviously, but the metal Venerable Dread belongs in GW's Hall of Shame.

IF you need a GW one (and not the clearly superior FW ones), go plastic, especially for converting.

The metal Venerable Dreadnought is pretty (if a bit over-blinged) but a NIGHTMARE of assembly. All the parts will be warped, and they're all heavy. You'll need green stuff, pinning, and a tub of super glue to get through that monster. Even then, it'll probably still fall apart. It's a nightmare, and mine's only stayed together because it's sitting on a shelf in a glass case.

Get the plastic one and save yourself some trouble. If the old one is significantly marked down, it's worth getting as a collector's item, and could be worth a little in a few years.

my two metal ones parts all seem fine, but i'm cursing buying them as i'd straight up love two plastic ones instead of them. :(

The new plastic dread is over blinged, regular dread. The metal Ven Dread, even though it is a challenge to build, does look the part. It's significantly bigger and IMO looks like it was a special chasis/body built for it to honor its position amongst the chapter. Don't get me wrong, the new Ven Dread is awesome! Although, that 5lb papper weight is always a great model.

this was my Ven dread for my Deathwing. I sold it online though. I had to pin it. I did slight conversion with the arms posed out a little showing the inner wires/hoses. It was pretty sturdy when it was finished. I did however have to do alot of filing with all the metal components fitting perfectly. I think this sculpt is true to the Ven Dread feel, however it should've of been plastic. I think it was GW's attempt to make a FW looking Dread.

Cheers!
