So I'm now a few months into the joys of 40k addiction and I have a question for all of you. Is it worth getting the BGB if I already have the rule book from AoBR? What sort of material would I be getting in that book which is not already available to me? Any input would be appreciated.

No reason. The AoBR rulebook is all you'll ever need.

And I've needed it twice so far, and going on a third time.... *sigh* The big book is a little harder to lose, but that's about the only plus.

So you're going on $15ish on rulebooks. As opposed to $50.

The BGB has lots of fluff but nothing you'll need to play.

Thanks for the info. I like some fluff, but I don't think I want to spend $60 for it.

Pretty pictures, and some optional bits and bobs.

Strictly in terms of the rules: you miss out on a bunch of custom missions, and various odd mission rules (mine-fields, opening bombardment).
That aside, you miss a huge gallery of astounding pictures that I still, about two years later, look through and see new things.

Basically fluff and pictures. That's about it. If all you care about is the rules, don't bother with the $60 rulebook. ...that being said, the AoBR book is a little paperback. The $60 book is a heavy hard-backed book that can induce blunt trauma. If I get into a rules disagreement, I know what book I'd rather have
