Has anyone tried running 90 bloodclaws from the Space wolves codex? I was thinking about it today, and was wondering if this could work. Is a bloodclaw horde a viable army?

90 Blood Claws is 1440 points, and given that you utterly lack anti-tank and have yet to take an HQ, no this is not a viable army.

You are right. Let me clarify. Has anyone tried taking 90 bloodclaws as part of their army? And in addition taking the mandatory HQ and other upgrades the bloodclaws might need. The idea I am getting at is the idea of simply taking a TON of bloodclaws and slogging them up the field. Has anyone tired this or seen it done?

my friend used to kind of do this last ed. when you could take 2 powerfists per blood claw squad... i'm not familiar with the new codex so i dont know if they can still take 2 special weapons, but i remember them being quite effective, especially with +2 attacks on the charge. They still get that right?

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

I dunno about footslogging all those Blood Claws and if you're going run masses of Rhinos or Razorbacks, or use Drop Pods, Grey Hunters just seem better. At the end of the day, you have a crapload of Marines (well, BS3, WS3 Marines), so it will still be hard to deal with, but it's not the most efficient build in the codex.

Problems:

You're slow, and if trying to hug cover then you are *very* slow, and, believe it or not, you are vulnerable to assault.

Blood Claws need to charge, and in my opinion they also need re-rolls of some kind since their shooting is so limited and they're basically assault marines at WS3.

They're not nearly resilient enough to wade through 5th edition firepower and hope to get to grips with the opponent, and having so many footsloggers they will actually get in each other's way much like an Ork horde.

It has posiblilities, to make it work you would also need Wolf Guard, Wolf Priest and mabye Ragnar.

I'd definitely pay to see it go against a green tide army.

My gut instinct is that it would basically just be a weaker form of Green Tide since Orks can field a lot more in support of their boyz mobz and also have some superior tools for speed and survivability.

So, you take 60 Bloodclaws (4 units), 18 ML long fangs (three units), and 4 Wolf Priests (one for each BC unit) at 1750-1800 points and that makes for a hurtful 82 power armor guys. Trade out 1 Wolf Priest and run a rune priest with stormcaller and Living Lightning and you can give all guys walking cover saves.

May not be the most competitive list, but it would be an interesting walking MEQ horde.

What I'd do if you want to focus an army on blood claws I'd take squads of 10 bloodclaws in transports. Skyclaws and swiftclaws. They are both bloodclaws with different gear, but still bloodclaws. Bloodclaws suffer from the not being able to shoot if they can charge problem. They die faster than grey hunters. They make up for it a little with the extra attack on a charge. Don't know how feasible it is, but would be fun to try.
