Hey guys.
-new here- ^^
Haha anyway, enough of the N00bness and on to business.
I have just started collecting an Eldar army, and have just loaded up a Wraithlord with a Wraithsword and dual flamers. (I want him to fight in a CC role)
I was just wondering what ARE the advantages/disadvantages of the wraithsword? I.e. where it is/isn't best utilised, how best to deploy etc. And would/should I take a secondary weapon? If so, what one would work best for his role?
Also if someone could run me through the various (effective) loadouts for the Wraithlord that'd be great xD

A Wraithlord with sword is best used in a footslogging list, where it can act as countercharge, scaring your opponent into not assaulting your shooty Eldar for fear of a Wraithlord foot to the face. Because Wraithlords are typically employed in footslogging lists where the usual anti-tank options aren't viable (Fire Dragons, more Fire Dragons, or Fire Prisms Dragons) they tend to be fitted with Bright Lances and/or Eldar Missile Launchers to take out tanks at range.
Also, I think you got the wrong forum. You wanted '40k Tactics'.

Hi and welcome,
I think most people would probably advise that the optimal way to arm wraithlords are either dual flamer and sword to keep cheap and run at the opponent, Or bright lance and missile launcher for long range anti tank.
I have experimented with a few different load outs, including bright lance and sword, and scatter laser shuriken cannon with mixed success but the previous 2 loadouts are considered the "best" in a competative way I think.
Try and give him a job and focus on that rather than equipping for long range shooting with a sword in case you get into close combat.
Your suggested loadout looks fine but I wouldn't worry about giving him a 2nd weapon. If you do make it a cannon to keep it cheap as he will want to be running most of the time anyways

As said above best loadouts are typically:
- Wraithsword only
- Eldar Missile Launcher/Bright Lance
The best option however is to magnetize everything so you can swap things around as you wish

Wraithlords are best with flamers and a wraith sword only IMO. Gives you a re-rollable S4 template and re-roll's to hit in combat with S10 power weapon attacks. They are great at drawing fire from the rest of your force.

Does it count as a single twin linked flamer then? I always have worked it out as 2 different flamers
