Hello all DakkaDakka members.
I have been playing 40k for a long time now and been painting and modelling longer. However i need a little help with an upcoming WHFB army. I was thinking of using a couple of squads of Warriors of Chaos and i wanted to incorporate some Chaos Marauder Horsemen , some Chaos Knights and maby a Warhammer Giant.
Onto the question could someone help me put together a list involving most of these units that would be a little fun to play with , not one to win games with necessaraly but one that would be easy and fun to use. Im looking for around about 2500-3000 point list.
Thanks for the help everyone

I'll try putting a list together tonight . However, I'm no chaos player, so I'll have to leave the particulars to the experts...
Cheers for 40k to Fantasy converts! Here comes the wave!!

Take a look through some of the other chaos lists. I have one down a few spots that Boss_Salvage put together that seems to incorporate a lot of what you are looking for. I think you could switch out a couple of units of marauders to warriors and add in a giant and you would have a pretty good list. You might want to pick a different general too. I just really like the demon prince model.

Undead, I was just referring to the fact that you play 40k and are starting a fantasy army. You might already play fantasy, but I was a person who switched from 40k to fantasy, and I'm hoping more people on this board will start doing so once the new rulebook comes out next month .
Good idea, boogeyman! Here are some lists from Boss_Salvage (replying to others' threads about WoC) in addition to the one boogeyman posted above. I'm going to list them out with a summary of the units contained, and the point level. Here's the key:
L = Lord
SL = Sorcerer Lord
S = Sorcerer
E = Exalted
W = Warriors
M = Maurauders
MH = Maurauders Horsemen
H = Hounds
K = Knights
C = Chariots
List 1: Mixed list, 2250, L, E, 2W, 4M, 2MH, 2H, 2K (posted by boogeyman above)
List 2: Khorne list, 2000, L, 3W, 1M, 2H, 1K, Dragon Ogre Shaggoth
List 3: Tzeentch list, 2000, SL, S, 1W, 3M, 1MH, 1H, 2K, Warshrine
List 4: Mixed list, 2000, SL, 2S, E, 3MH, 2H, 2K
List 5: Mixed list, 2250, L, S, E, 3MH, 2H, 1K, 2C, Giant, Hellcannon
List 6: Khorne list, 2000, L, Throgg, 2W, 1MH, 2H, 2K, 7 Trolls
Also, a good analysis of when to take the different marks of chaos. Personally, I hope you go mono-god (all one mark for the army) but that's just my preference .
And all this is from just the last month and a half!

Mono-god would just be servants of Chaos that all serve one particular god (Tzeentch, Khorne, Nurgle, or Slaanesh). Many people mix the marks because certain marks tend to benefit certain units more than others. But if you go with just one, you can sometimes have more of a theme to your list... and from the chaos armies I've seen in person, it's somewhat unique to do this, which also makes it cool

@ RiTides Ohh ok thank you , and yes i would be going for a Mono-god style army anyway which would probably be in the style of Khorne or maby slaneesh
@ Karon thanks for the links man im sure that they will come in handy
I was thinking of painting them in a similar scheme to this , take a look and see what you guys think.

Personally, I'm not too into that color scheme- at first I thought it was a recording taken in black and white, rather than in color. Especially if you're thinking of Khorne, you'll need some red in there (Blood for the blood god!!!!) and if you go the Slaanesh route, you'll probably want some pink.
(as someone who opposes "girly colors" on warrior armies, except this one, I'd go Khorne )

Yeah i dont really particually like ' Girly' colours on chaos models either i was thinking of expanding on the scheme and maby changing the silver on the sheilds for a dark blue with light blue highlights and , To be honest i dont really like models that have too much red on them if you get me.
Any ideas on the scheme please let me know it would be good to have your input

I always have to say, if you are frightened by "girly" colors (I'm guessing pink and purple?), then that's just your sexual insecurity.
Wrong? Probably. Something to think about? Definitely.
I'm washing and painting my beastmen in dark purple, which will basically consist of black primer, paint metals and eyes and such, and then wash several times with Leviathan Purple.
Don't know if it will work, but I'm hoping I'll achieve a dark-purple on the skin, and a lighter purple on everything else.

I don't think purple is a "girly color" at all- it can be quite intimidating! I was planning on doing skaven with a snow scheme and purple garments, before putting that project on hold.
Pink on the other hand doesn't belong on near-mad, frothing at the mouth, chaos-god-worshipping lunatics... imho, of course!
As for your idea Undead, I think blue could work really well (especially if you're not a fan of red) although it's not the usual colors for Khorne! You could do up some background to explain it, or just call it a DIY scheme ('nuff said!). Got to go with what you like

@ Karon : I agree , purple is actualy one of my favourite colours , it can be quite menacing at times. I meant to describe pink as a more girly colour this is not meaning that i have a problem with its just the category i would put it in to IMHO. Also your scheme sounds really good , it would be great to see some pictures of it.
@ RiTides : I was planning on making it a more Slaanesh type mono god army. Just a little question though , with the box set of chaos warriors below do you get sheilds instead of making them with two weapons one in either hand.
Here is the warriors of chaos :

I just checked, and at the bottom of the page it says this: "This box set contains 12 multi-part plastic Warriors of Chaos, which can be assembled with additional hand weapons or hand weapons and shields and includes options for a Champion, Standard Bearer and Musician."
I'm not sure why there's no picture of them with shields for the box set, but it definitely comes with them!

Hey thanks , guess i will be heading down to my local GW to pick up a set of them. Also on the paint scheme thing i was thinking for the blue of doing a wash of blue over chaos black undercoat before highlighting with light blue , does this sound like a good idea ? Any ideas you have will be very much appreciated.

It sounds good! I used to play black templars, and I find black to be a hard color to do well- but I think the blue wash will help a lot. It sounds like it will look cool, if you do get a set of warriors I would designate one or two for test models (or some spare 40k models could work well, too, since the armor on chaos warriors isn't too different to paint) and give it a try

Yeah , that sounds like a good idea , i also used to play black templars and found that black was hard to paint , this was most probably because if you did not highlight the black it looked too dull if you know what i mean.
