I just use the regular ole GW white primer. Then I covered almost the whole thing with bleached bone. I was going to try and use bleached bone spray on them but all that would save me is about 45 mins tops
I dipped my tomb kings and I liked the results... I only did it because there were so many skeletons to paint and that made it go so much faster.. I dipped the skeletons and tomb guard and a few other things, and the big stuff and the heroes I painted normally

Moving right along. The guys are all painted and put together. No pics at the moment but I'll be posting some WIP pics of the bases as I get to em. I may end up missing my deadline of the end of the week though since the next few nights I could be kind of busy :(
Overall they're lookin good as a unit now, and I'm getting anxious to finish em so i can paint up the terminator lord. Which isn't always a good thing for me becuase then I start to rush and miss stuff or start to paint a little more sloppy to try and finish quicker :/

A common problem. Very annoying when you think you are finished and find some space you forgot. Little breaks with something to drink and some cake/candy can help to shake of the time pressure.

It's not so much an interest level thing it's more just that I don't have the amt of time I used to, so it takes longer to get stuff done.. on top of that since I had so much store credit to burn, I bought all the models I need for the army already and they're calling to me. I wanna get stuff done so I can move on to the next unit. So I have to force myself to just do one thing at a time or else I'll end up with a half built and half painted army that a year from now I'll be "meaning to finish". Kinda like what happened with my beastmen

A plain simple but unique look. The brown base trim strikes me a bit but this maybe because of the white table. Some nice bad guys you got there .

yeah I just do all of my bases that color now. A pet peeve of mine was seeing brush strokes on the sides of my bases, dunno why.. so I got some cheapy brown spray paint from home depot and I just spray all my bases that color. It's quick & easy For the dirt part I wanted something dark since the rest of the model is lighter, and I generally don't like to go overboard decorating bases too much, I like the focus to be on the guy and not what he's standing in

I normally try and pick out the main color from the top of the base and use that for the trim. They seem a bit off. I would suggest a black trim personally.
The models themselves look great. Just enough red detail work to keep them interesting. Good job man ^_^.

yeah I was thinking about the bases and I'm starting to agree. Maybe I'll just go with a straight black or maybe a black marble? which leads me to...
I have some ideas I'm thinking of for the tanks... So, the people in the army are all boney looking and have this dead stuff feel. And with a name like Krypt Keepers they're gonna need a crypt of some sort.. so I was thinking what if I did some conversions to try and make tanks a little different. I was thinking something along the lines of a mausoleum so what if I painted the tanks to look like white marble? Maybe for the land raider try and do some conversions to make it look more like it's made from pieces of marble instead of metal. Thinking along the lines of if the imperium doing that whole gothic church thing, these guys would have more of a gothic cemetery look I guess.
think something like that would work? Any ideas on how I could model the land raider to look more like a mausoleum with tank treads? And, anyone ever seen good & easy tutorials on how to paint marble? Or would I drive myself insane trying to paint that much detail?

Been busy, didn't have much time to get a lot done, but I did finish my terminator lord and I'm half done my Khorne berzerkers.
Here's the lord:
Only thing left to do is add the decals that I have yet to print out, same goes for my first marine unit.. The army emblem will go on that empty shoulder pad and I may see if I can do a bigger one for the back of his cloak
And here's my Khorne berzerkers so far. I decided to keep them the same color as the rest of the army, but give them the signature khorne heads. When I do my death guard, it will be the same deal but I may go with a greenish shoulder pad w/ nurgle emblem on em. ANyway, I just gotta get the weapons and black & iron parts finished.. hopefully this weekend.
After these are done, I'm going to lay off painting for a bit and just build everything. I have all the models now and I'd like to start playing em soon But next after them I'll be doing my chosen, who are gonna have bitz from normal marines and posessed models all mixed together.

Now that's a power axe
Good call on painting the zerkers to match, I much prefer that route with cult troops myself. The main man looks good, though the pose is a little funky to me - but I think that's the nature of the termi lord, cresting that rock star with weapon arms stuck out wherever.
The first squad looks very nice too, I don't think I popped in to note. I dig the brown bases personally, and actually all of my armies are based with a similar color.

I really like the color scheme. I had my doubts at first, but it has turned into a nice clean look, without the overly fiddly look some chaos gets. The bone theme really comes through, even without lots of bone trophies and the like.
All in all, I would definitely be proud to be fielding those boys!

yeah I was going to change the bases to black but I decided to just keep it brown.. mostly because I already have all the bases painted brown and I'm too lazy to re-spray them
A guy on WIP suggested I use a tomb kings bone giant for my demon prince.. I like that idea a lot but since I already bought the marine demon prince I think I'm going to keep that, but maybe I'll try the bone giant as a summoned greater demon for these guys. Converted a bit and maybe with a defiler demony head instead of the stupid looking king kong skull

That would make a fine choice. I think a skeletal giant dressed up to look Tzeenchy would be cool too, but I don't play Chaos and have no idea what I am talking about beyond "Oohh neat!"

I think that head is too big for the model. I think you are better of with a more sleak, reptilian skull head. Wherever you can get that.

Tell your ladies to keep their pants on, I've got 2000 points coming hopefully around the new year. Sadly ol' spikey won't be a part of it, the role of D(emon)P(rincess) is being played by my Demosaurus of Slaanesh ... And yeah the bone giant head is kinda huge, but I felt Khorne wouldn't mind. - Salvage

the option looks pretty intresting but dead. I mean not the undead dead but statue dead. You know what I mean? If he was shouting or has eyes or at least one he would look more like with the living.

and here's a closeup of the champ
Wadaya think?
Next on my list will be my terminators. Was going to do chosen, but I have to wait for some metlagun bitz to arrive. Also ordered the hellcannon bitz for my defiler
But now I'm going to just start building stuff so I can get the models made so I can play with em.. so there will be a bunch of wip pics soon to follow

Moving right along...
Here's my terminators so far.
I went with the standard bearer thing because it's something you rarely see with terminators. I took the sorcerer's staff and snipped off the head, drilled a hole in it, then stuck the big chaos symbol from the defiler in there, then I stuck one of the new personal icons over the center. Pretty simple. The champ is the guy with the lightning claws.
The new terminator lord kit is really great, I used almost all the spare bitz in it between the lord and the 5 terminators.
So far I'm kind of on the fence with the spikey skull racks they put on their backs. They look good but I kinda like the simpler look without them, and since the lord has them it may help me tell them apart easier when i play, since these guys will be pained pretty much the same as him. But I may do something with the champ, I don't feel he stands out enough. Also, it's kind of hard to add racks now, because I put the shoulder pads on and the trim on the top of the shoulder pad goes up over their backs on most of these guys, so it'll be really hard to add them without having to rip the pads off first. So if you're making plastic terminators and you want your trophy racks, make sure you glue them on before you glue on your shoulder pads
Anyway, wadaya think?

I really like your standard. It will make terminators stand out even more(in a good way) once they're painted.
I know what you mean with the trophy racks. But your termies are looking great without them.

If you want something a little different, I once saw a really nice set of chaos termies with a cloak of tentacles coming off their shoulders. I think each had about 5-10 tentacles going from their shoulders towards the ground, which from across the table looked a lot like a cloak with heavy shading, but when they DS'd next to some girls holding an objective, I realized they were individual tentacles. Kind of extra creepy that they looked so deceiving.
So really, by "different" I meant "the same as another guy's." He was blind though, so I doubt he would notice the blatant rip off. (I have to congratulate him on being a good player, and counting pips on dice like no one's business. A very impressive guy.)

Well ... it looks like a spawn with guns glued on to me. I was thinking more gribbly green stuff to mesh the guns in more, and the guns replacing more anatomically familiar bits - arms, heads, chest, etc.
I like the idea though, and wow is that tusky spawn head a nice one.

the more I look at it, the less I like it for an obliterator.. I don't think it's gonna work. might have been better to mix a spawn and a terminator or something like that. I think I'll just use these as spawns and instead of having 2 obliterators in the army I'll replace them with a vindicator.. I have 3 of them from a linebreaker squadron so this way I'll get to use one in my 2000 pt games There's plenty of other spawn heads and other bitz though so maybe if I do get the metal obliterators eventually I can still covert em up with lots of tallons and other stuff.
