I like the new marines pose. The slight lean forward really gives him the 'headed in for the kill' feel.

Oh and I know about the chicken foot, I wish they would have thought that one through a little more considering how awesome the left leg is.

I did some work on my tech marine. Need everything but the body.

Looking good. I'm on a crappy work computer so I can't tell too much as far as detail (between the monitor and the florecent lighting...). Again, that leg is awesome. The blue tubing will really help to tie him into your army, and sets off the red very nicely.

The basic marines you've done so far are good, I especially like the looks of the one with the knife held at the ready, can't wait to see him painted. And I'm glad you made the decision to switch to red seals and blue tubing, it makes the models look a lot nicer, with a colour scheme that works.

The techmarine seems to be coming along nicely, a shame about the chicken foot though.

I've begun work on the head of the techmarine but I don't know if I like it.

I wanted to go for something like the Borg, but don't know if I pulled it off.

Please let me know

I think a wash of a violet hue and another stage of highlight could get you there.

Purple washed, though I don't know how noticable it is.

The purple wash helps alot, especially around the left eye. Loving the Techmarine, always a fan of built Techs.

If you really want that gaunt look the borg have, I think I'd go another stage lighter for the high points on the skin.

The purple wash seems to have worked out nicely, though if you really want it more noticeable you might try one more hit in select spots. I think it's nice and subtle right now personally and has hit all the right recesses (around the eyes and mechanical bits).

I think I'll leave the skin how it is as I'm fond of it and don't want to mess it up if I do another highlight.

On an off note, I've named him Hugh.

Aside from the chicken foot (which is none of your doing) I really like that tech marine. It looks very gaunt, and borg-like. The other marines are cool too. They look classic yet don't have that cartoony(for lack of a better word) look to them, which is great

I've begun working on the Tech Marine some more but I hit a snag. Do I leave the trim on the AM pad, or do I cut it off? I was thinking of leaving it but am not sure if I should.

Comments?

On it is then. It'd be too hard to cut around the symbol anyway I think. Probably not, but still on it shall remain.

I got a squad fleshed out. They still need heads and backpacks, but they'll do for painting.

They have been gubbined. Not the best pics I admit, but they're just to show what I've added to them.

The bitz'll show up better once I start painting them.

I like the idea alot, as well as where they are going.

One thing I find helps me a lot when painting armies, but not necessarily at the same time, is buying paint specifically for the color I want, or mixing a pile all at once and sealing it up. Investing 10$ getting just the right shade, base and highlight colors you want to use in their own bottles is probably going to be the cheapest part of the army, while doing the most to make it look really cohesive. It will also save you a lot of head aches. My Sisters had about 5 different degrees of highlighting on their armor based on when I painted them and how I mixed it (I didn't highlight as dramatically at the beginning). Then I broke down and bought the color that most closely matched, and now ALL my black power armor has the same highlight. It seems a small thing, but just popping open a bottle instead of mixing every time saved me a lot of time in the long run.

Is there any way to clamp those chicken foot toes together into a solid(er) looking foot?

I've tentativly started my Commander for the army:

I'm not sure if he'll fit in or if he's too huge for the army. Any ways to improve him would be appreciated. Also, I've been thinking of cutting off the hip plates to even him out a bit.

I have 2 Marines made just like him. Cut the torso through the front-middle and through the side-middle. Then put around a 2mm plasti-card layering in there and glue it all back together. Cut the skull off the lower belt, otherwise he'll have two belts.

Edit: Here's a picture without plates. The plates look dumb in my opinion

Thanks snorkle but I've decided to not have a biggerized commander, he'll just be wearing a more ornate suit of Mk5 armour. He'll be the only one in the army to have a studded leg, that should make him different enough and maybe give him a different helmet or something too.

Also, I've got a test wash for the marines. It's not perfect, but it shows what the colour can do. BTW, it's Snakebite Leather.

Not much of an update as I want to get everything assembled before I start painting, also waiting on comments on the snakebite leather wash, if you'd be so kind .

Here's a couple new additions to the army:
