I wanted to convert the backpacks from CSM ones and as I don't have them as of yet, they will come later.

Any ideas about their bases? I'm drawing a blank.

I'm thinking a dark brown after doing some photoshopping. Check it out below:

The dark brown does look the best out of the three, although I'm partial to the grey for some nice urban bases.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

After a bit of a hiatus due to school work and illness, I have returned. It's not much but I think this makes the models a bit better than they were before... heads!

I need to add backpacks and guns then they're set.

Personally, I do heads *after* the guns, as it allows me to have the guy at least face in the general direction that his gun is pointed.

Nice - I like the contrast of the black robes on the Sergeant compared to the rest of his unit. Makes it really pop.

The unit now has guns, save the heavy weapon.

Sorry for the brightness.

Got the Missile Launcher finished, so now all I need to do are the backpacks.

Instead of painting backpacks, this evening I started work on a Librarian, very WIP.

Nice work SoG, I really like what you have going. For the bases I would have gone the same route as you. When you generally mix a warm color with a cool color that isn't complimentary they usually clash and it is unpleasing to the eye. Brown's probably the best because it reflects the yellow and oranges in the figures and makes the black stand out more. Grey is also a good color because of its neutrality, generally draws more attention focused on the subject that it's accompanying.

Can't wait to see some more! Keep the momentum going, hope you feel better

Nice - I love the scratchbuilt psychic hood. Has anyone tried scratchbuilding one like this for a Terminator?

Because the Librarian will be mostly blue and because my power weapons will be blue as well, i want to give him a staff but am stuck on how to make one.

Any suggestions?

I finished 5 marines save their bases.

I'll figure out what to do for them tomorrow or tonight and post updates.

I've done a test base, but am unsure if it looks ok or not or if I should do a black rim and grey sand.

Personally, I like black rims - they look more "professional".

The base looks a little "flat" - a little brighter highlighting will bring out the texture.

I was thinking it was a little flat too actually. I'll add 1 more highlight to it and see how it looks.

Here's the black base I decided to do a tester for:

yeah another highlight either way you go.

I'm more partial to the brown base. It feels warmer and fits more with the overall tone of the army.

But really, what sort of terrain do you normally play on?

That's the thing, I haven't played a game in like 3 years so it doesn't really matter. I suppose I could make a gaming table once I move in April if the space is available, but as it stands, there is no terrain I play on.

I think I'll go another highlight on the brown and use that for the rest of the bases as well.

Yeah, the brown base looks much better. It provides some much needed contrast to the black tabards some of the guys have and the black robes of your sergeants.

The first five are done as they're getting for now. I may add badges and whatnot to them, but unless I can get decals, they're finished.

The bases get a little washed out by the flash. I'll get a brighter colour next time I go to GW and make the bases stand out a bit more.

Thanks grey_death, that seemed to help.

A little rushed, but it does the trick.

For the force staff you could go with a yellow/orange hued force staff, which would fit in with obligatory blue libby color and the army scheme. As far as constructing it I'm not sure, just try some varied stryrene rod sizes and shapes. In addition you could forgo that route and just grab one of the SM librarians with force staff and book, such as this one http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=302172&orignav=300866&ParentID=259859&GameNav=10

It's coming along nicely though, I can't wait to see what you're going to come up with for the libby.

I've started more work on the librarian, mostly, I've added the hand from the Terminator Librarian.

Not much of an update, especially since I've had this done for a while now, but due to school I haven't uploaded it.

Here is the new and improved staff, now less of a plunger.

It's been a few months, but as I've been kinda AWOL hobby wise, other than collecting bitz, I thought I'd show you what I've been up to, granted it's not much.

I think I like this version of the staff best:

What do you think?

I prefer the second staff head.

Very cool marines.

Everything you've done so far has been great! It's good to see some Dark Angels love. What did you use for the psychic hood on your librarian?
