You are definitely not the only one.
All the metal models shown are garbage except for Njall, Imo.
And like I already said, I hate animal heads, tails and furs on models. Absolutely hate it. That's personal taste of course, and if you don't mind all of that they are absolutely great models (the plastics). I will look at the sprues, and if they are not separate pieces or too hard to remove I am not buying. For the troops box it looks good, but I'm not so sure about the stupid&useless fur loincloths 3 of the Terminators' legs have.
Apparently there are a lot of heads included, so it will be possible to built squads that look entirely different from the ones shown without all the bearded hobo heads.
Overall they did come up with a very good concept that stands out from the other Marine armies. They just went a little too far with all the ornaments and facial hair. Automatically Appended Next Post: Shaman wrote:Only die hards mine those 10 page lonmg threads..
To be honest, at the time this thread was posted the pictures were on the last or second to last page of the other thread. Not something that bothers me that much, but it is true that a lot of people just post away without looking first.

Same here. I'm glad a new thread was made to call these out specifically - they are noteworthy.

I wouldn't go that far, but if a News&Rumors thread goes is that long it's usually discussion only. If new pics show up, they're worth a new thread in my humble opinion.

agreed, if it was done by the first poster of the pics. now we have TWO separate discussions on the same thing (granted not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.. the economy, the axis of evil getting nukes, etc..) also, the OP didn't make the thread because he wanted to fork the discussion, he did it because he thought he had a "scoop" because he didn't bother to read the last one or two pages on a thread on the top part of the first page of the forum. that's bad forum etiquette that a new poster should be aware of. either way, last time i'll be chiming in on this...

Oh, I'm over the moon here guys!!!
I was actually worried after seeing the Space Hulk minis that the Space Wolves would be something worth getting.....now my money and my affiliation with Infinity is well and truely safe!
These minis are typical GW (never seen a human body, or how it works!) sculpts. Its such a shame that they don't think to look at the rest of the market and apply some human proportion and geometry to their models.
These guys shouldn't be called Space Vikings, more like Space "old age pensioners"....whats with the faces on these dudes? And when will GW realise that a dynamic figure does not equal said character punching the air?
The Terminators look crap IMHO, sure they're not too far removed from the current Terminator range, but I was really hoping GW would extend their showcase.....
So all in all, my money is safe.... Yippee!

God almight, one might think you'd been expecting gold plated pieces done my Michaelangelo. Yes, witht he exception of Njal, the metals are sub par but the plastics are perfectly fine for what they're supposed to be. If you don't like bling on your models go play Necrons, SW were always about clanging as you walk.
Or just paint some stock Marines grey.

Its not about the bling, its about the fact that GW pursues the Cartoon miniature sculpting, and its 1980's already!

Just stopped laughing.
These models are hilarious. I don't know how anyone can put them on the table and not get laughed at. The guy with the twin lightning claws looks like he's having a very nasty trip. Beware, space logs can bring down the mightiest warriors.
As the wolf... how did this get through quality control?! Re-name the codex Space Wolves (and the Masters Of The Universe!!) and it'll all make sense.
Brilliant; that's made me laugh for a good ten minutes now.

There's nothing cartoon about the plastics, unless all Marines look cartoon for you (might be, nothing wrong with that) and thats what counts.
I suspect metal miniatures are less and less of a concern for GW. They make their profit on the boxes, not blisters so as long as theres a nominal new release, they're fine with it. I think the last metal models that I liked from GW were released way back during the Storm of Chaos.
Edit: New juggs and some of the orks were good too...

I can't say I am impressed. GW has been doing a good job lately with their new kits, but these just don't do anything for me (and i usually like the SW theme). And true to form, the 40K universe continues to be a very shouty place... I don't think anyone in the Imperium is allowed to be seen when they aren't shouting.

I'm realistic in my expectations of GW and their "miniatures"...and yes, most, if not all their sculpts look cartoony to me.
When you compare their stock stuff to what could be produced (see Forge World) it makes my stomach churn.
I'm just bored with their standard fair, the ounching the fist into the air, the overly large bodies, armour that is anatomically impossible (have you seen the gap between the legs of a terminator!!!) and I just wonder what the sculptors think when they knock this stuff out? Do they stand back and say "yeah, we nailed it this time" or are they critical of their own work and hate working for GW and its ideal on how a body should be?
I could understand this level of sculpting when GW first started out, but when you look at what other companies are doing, not to mention independants like Hasslefree, and you just have to wonder if the market is blind, or is this what people want to paint and play with?

Underwhelmed.
The poses on the LC characters are nasty. Looks like the plastic kit has some good bits, with scope for a more minimalist SW army that would, IMHOm look a lot better.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

It would not surprise me to see BA and DA termi spacific boxes out in the future. As for the wolfs....well I sold off a 2000+ point army about 2 years ago and thought when the new fig came out I would be tempted to buy them...not gonna happen. I just dont like them.

Praise the Lord, those are bloody mediocre
Which is kinda good, now I won't need to replace any of my army. Juan Diaz really dropped the ball on these. I've been admiring so many of the SM leaders and characters that I'd missed over the last five years, and was pretty excited to see what they would do with the SW. Assuming Jes Goodwin's amazing Rune Priest as a standard, I knew I'd be blown away. Now, at first glance, it's like looking at Yosemite Sam in power armour.
At this point I'm hoping that perhaps some of the paint jobs are a bit off, and not displaying the models in their best light. Footit did a great job of Vulkan, and Diaz really nailed Khan. These plastics seem a bit off though. Too many overly-tall pony tails, and bright orange hair. Pale, unhealthy skin. I wish they'd desaturated the armour, taking the blue out of the grey and skipping the pure yellows. It seems they took a step back towards 2nd ed.
(edit: After my initial impression wore off, I took another look at the plastics, and they're great. Unfortunately, the 2nd ed. paintjobs DOES detract from the quality of the models)
The Winnebego-size wolf. Now admittedly, that's a tough concept to pull off. Done wrong, it's a ridiculous farce, but, ah, if they gave it to the right talent (Jes Goodwin), we'd all look at the results and wondered how we ever could have doubted such awesomeness!
Choosing to go with the Muppet-wolf, though a bold direction, kinda' landed smack-dab into farce territory. Wolves have much smaller chests that never drag on the ground. They're powerful but lean beasts, all muscle and teeth. The head is 2/3 too small for the proportion. AND ONLY MY LITTLE PONIES CROP THEIR TAILS TO BOUNCE LIKE THAT.
Just last night I figured how I was going to rep this model for my army, and thank Russ I did, 'cause this is offensive. I read in the WD last year how Jes Goodwin did a lot of research to get the DE Cold Ones just right; sculpting the skeleton and muscles for an accurate understanding of the reptile physiology. I picked upthe box just for the joy of painting well-sculpted beasts. In contrast I can only suspect Martin Footit heard a cracking rendition of The Three Little Pigs to learn all he needed to know about the biology of Canis Lupis; they have sufficient lung capacity to knock down a straw or wooden hut, yet slightly underpowered for blowing down fortified defences. Well, he nailed it. Wish he'd tracked down a photo or two though.
Seriously, I weep for GW. With the near demise of Rackham, have they just stopped trying? For a while there they were really pushing the envelope, incorporating a gritty realism in their biology and technology. This is a serious drop in their standards.
