Is that a new type of flying base on the fellbeast?
The acrylic rod seems very long and seems to go straight into a classic 40/60mm base???

Lord of the Rings minis? *yawn* The fell beast does have some great wings though.

Lame that they put the wings on separate sprues.

Guess they saw the want for the wing bits and will be making you buy two sprues now instead of one if you just want the bits.

As said before, I think this would make a great WHFB dragon with a head swap. Not sure what to swap the head to... or if its scale is alright with WHFB.

Sure it is.

Sprue 1 is body A & rider
Sprue 2 is wing A & body B
Sprue 3 is base & wing B

The space exists to have rationalized things like this:

Sprue 1: body
Sprue 2: wings
Sprue 3: rider & base

But GW choose not to lay things out this way.

Anyone think that those really thin bits on the third sprue are going to survive transportation? Yipe... those will be broken on the sprue no doubt.

Indeed. There's a fairly good chance that the reason the wings are on two separate sprues is because there isn't a reason - ie. GW either didn't notice, or don't actually care. A 'conspiracy' implies intent, and I don't think they intended anything with this other than to put out a (needless) plastic Fellbeast model.

Though I do wonder what I should use for the head. Original plan was to use a spare Carnifex head (probably the Acid Maw one. I like that one!) but I rather fear it's going to be too big. Hmm.

Hive Tyrant head is a bit smaller IIRC than the Carnifex head.

Yarp, but not by much. Plus I have a horrible feeling the extra weight might make it topple over, which would make me cry.

Bugger bugger bugger. Warrior head would be too diddy as well. Could just attempt a Greenstuff armour plate for the head on the kit? Surely layered Chitin can't be that hard?

Ok, yeah, not exactly 'cheap' - but you could model it back (cut away half the neck), and it'd look big and beastly.

Not one for everyone, but as I intend to source an old 2nd Ed Zoanthrope head for my Doom of Malan'tai, I could take the replaced one, and slice off the face, plus enough of the head to get a flush fit on the neck. Might look arse, but only one way to find out! Would probably still require a greenstuff hood (like the Warriors and Raveners have) but at least I won't be risking it looking like a Fellbeast in a rather fetching hat.

Why not use the Warrior head with the extra crest that used to designate a brood leader?

No...it's something you'll probably only see exclusively with the Fell Beast.

I like the non-witch king fell beast better- good thing too, cos I already have the much cooler metal witch king.

I like the pose, but I'm worried about that stem. Great miniature, but I'm not sure I need another winged Nazgul.
