I like them both. The Boars are well above the existing ones. The riders look like they are falling forward though. Might be the pic.

I think that painting the boar heads a darker grey-ish color will help them a lot.

I like 'em. The boars aren't spectacular, but they look wayyyy better than the Razorgor.

Echoing this sentiment, but with the River Trolls and to paint "just for funsies".

I looked at the trolls and thought "Oh, look, plastic Nurgle Daemon Princes." Just add wings.

The Boars look better than the old ones. Get over it.

Was thinking the same thing, would love to see how these are broken out - could make some great DPs or Oblits maybe.

Well I think they look excellent. Don't really see the problem with the boars. Personally very happy with GW's latest sculpts.

If you check out the GW website, it looks like the vomite is an addon piece. Which is helpful

And on the boar riders, if you see some different angled pics (again on GW website) the boyz look like theyre literally hanging on. Which is a nice touch, and pretty hilarious.

The boars have more sense of movement, but they somehow managed to make them look even more cartoony than the old ones. Not sold.

The Trolls, though, are things of beauty. Hideous, gruesome beauty.

I don't play WHFB but I really like the River Trolls. I might have to get some just for fun.

The boar riders are just "meh", IMO.

River trolls- look better than the black and white pics I saw a couple months back.

Boarboy riders- look fantastic
The boars.... Great movement in the models, but there is just something not right about the face. Pumba or not it doesn't look like a normal boar.

A side issue for me (and I raised it when I found out this stuff was coming out back in December), why is GW releasing these now?

1: Trolls of any sort are almost never seen in any O&G armies (the main market for the models I assume). Releasing new models for a unit with uber lame rules will get an initial boost in sales, but down the track, when new players are taking up O&G armies, they won't be buying them, which means the mold won't pay for itself.

2: Those who use boar boys will probably have them already (assuming O&G players are the main market). There will be some spill over into feral ork 40k armies but as far as cav go, I think boar boys are about as bad as you can get in WHFB, on a par with TK 'heavy' cav and Lizardmen cold one riders (Neither unit I have seen in the last 2 years in any game), due to their insanely high cost to make them decent (full equipmment and big uns, and the animosity rule).

3: And most importantly O&G are about as suckful an army as you can get in WHFB anymore. People take them for 'fun games' (I use the term loosely as I have never, ever, had a more frustrating army that has its own built in 'brain fart' rule that cripples almost any unit in the army on the roll of a 1 and usually puts them in an awkward spot by forcing a charge or putting you in charge range on the roll of a 6 on a d6).
You want to sell minis- release good rules. it has worked for Daemons, Dark Elves, VCs and Lizardmen.

New priority: get hold of those boarboyz, stat! These new models are just ace, and I'm now sorely tempted. Curses!

Because the models are not up to par with what we expect from GW? To me, the boars are tolerable. The one wearing a mask is the best of the lot, since its head is covered. The main thing that caught my ire, for some reason, is the spears that look almost like swords on the end of sticks. It might just be me, but I prefer spears that look like spears. Not some Orc getting the bright idea to wrap their choppa onto the end of a broken light pole (for that matter, stop making polearm staves as thick as a soda bottle).

Also: Whilst the Boar Boyz is a good change, anyone else notice that the new Plastic Trolls are only about 50 cents less than they use to be when metals before the price hikes?

Hey, I had fun using eight trolls just last saturday in my GW. I was fighting Ogres, yeah, but I did use Trolls!

Even then, unless you slap a character (or two) in there they tend to do poorly. Savage Orc Boar Boyz are the only ones who can really hold their own, and even then they have that one-in-six chance of twiddling with their thumbs up their arse when there's a vulnerable unit flank sitting two inches ahead of them. Well, unless you slap a Black Orc in there and want to watch yourself possibly kill some 100+ points of your army each turn.

Both very nice kits. I'll pick them up if 8th edition is any good.

Holy, the river trolls are amazing. I mean so much more detailed than before, i'd definatly consider having them in my army just cause of the sculpt.

The boar boyz...im not sure how to feel about them. I was never really a fan of them in the first place. The orc models are awesome. The boars, although not what i expected when i heard GW was releasing new orc models (i mean come on, we all knew Boar boyz were gonna be redone) they are WAY better than the current models for them. Those boars have been around since i started collecting warhammer, so what, a decade and a half ago? Any sort of update is good in my opinion. The only thing that would have made them better is if they ALL had the metal plating over their faces. One with the metal plate looks badass.

Well, to me really they are only boars because they are called boarz, and they have boar bodies. Or maybe this is just me getting annoyed how poorly my favourite animal was represented.

The old river trolls were plenty detailed and quite nice actually.



I never got them as I thought (and still think!) that the Stone Trolls are just better looking...

The biggest thing these new trolls have going for them is that they are plastic!

I am so on those trolls. It's exactly what I need to do my WoC Troll King list.

As tot he boar riders...did they at least make a dual kit for savage orc boar boys? Cause in my opinion, that was what was missing from the OnG line...plastic savages. That would be about the only thing that would entice me to pick up the greenies. Their metals are woefully out of date and one of the few core choices not to have been made plastic yet.

My gut also tells me that OnG are on the short list of army book updates wherein boar boys will get a point drop and possibly a stat boost.

It's the eyes.

They've gone for big highlights around the eye-lids and it makes them look cartoony. I'm sure a decent paint job would make the boar boyz turn out better.

Trolls are sweet.

I like all of these models. I think they're absolutely incredible. Not sure where all the hate is coming from. I'm not seeing much pumba similarities.

I've been considering starting an ork fantasy army. Been waiting for the new edition of WFB to see if they fix the problems. I would love to add these guys to an army I built.

I also agree that the boar boys would make a good start for cyboar models for my 40K Orks.

Nothing can top the Nelson Boar Riders. But these are nice.

Can't stand the Boars. Only thing good about them is the price. I expected +$30

Oh man....GW just got so much of my money. My orc army has been needing a shot in the arm to get me to break it out again. Can't wait to get my hands on these!

I quite like the boars, not having the Pumbagor eyes helps a great deal. Hell, that kit is worth it for the rider bits alone. Those new orc heads/helmets and weapons are fantastic!

That being said, all but one of the pictured boars is making base contact on a single leg. I see a great deal of pinning, fixing, and re-gluing in their future.

I like both the old metal plus these new plastic River Trolls, very characterful.

The Ork riders are okay, the boars another proof that GW can't really sculpt animals except horses. But there is always Gamezone
