check if the order numbers are something like XXXX3 and XXXX4.
could point out that you ordered it twice.
i once got my order twice and emailed them about it.they said i could keep it for free because it was cheaper to give it to me than to get it back and stuff.

When mythic charged me 25 times for an inactive account, I literally screamed profanity the likes of which I don't think the mortal ear's can handle.
The lady answering the phone I think I heard crying....
They gave me a month free and refunded all my monehs.

They've never sold a fortress that was large enough for a Warhound to walk through.
They do, however, still sell the Imperial Fortress(which is something like 50-60 lbs of pure resin goodness) which had gates large enough to park a FW Baneblade or a pair of Leman Russes in side by side.

I've only bought from FW once and my complaint was that their Leman Russ turrets don't really fit the turrent mounts very well

Were they the "new" Demolisher/Leman Russ chassis that you tried to fit the FW turrets on?
Because, apparently, the turret ring is a bit different on the two.

I checked my bank account to see if I was indeed charged twice. I wasn't.
I was charged four times. Yes. FOUR TIMES. That's four shy of 300 dollars for an order that was only 74. I can't call them because it's past store hours, but I am going to as soon as monday rolls around.
Contact your bank. What you want to do is file a "Regulation E (as in Electronic) Request." Some banks have forms at the branch for you to fill out, others will have you do it over the phone.
It's been a long time since I worked in a branch, so I don't remember the specific reason you want to cite (they can help you with that, though), but it's something like, "charged for items not ordered."
Just tell the bank you ordered something once, but were billed 4x. Don't bother telling them you received 2 copies. it doesn't matter, and you'll only confuse them.
Then, handle the "extra items" issue with FW directly.

Now this is something I haven't heard in years, but isn't it true that, if a company sends you something that you didn't request, you are not required to either pay for it or return it?
I'm assuming that you only received 1 email receipt as well.
The bank is definetly the way to go and he's right about the 2nd order being irrelevant. You made one order and got charged 4 times. Don't worry about ethics either. When a company screws up, they expect to eat the costs and overcharging is the worst thing you can do.

@fbb
I don't know that this would qualify for what you refer to. The law in question was meant to keep people from sending stuff to you in the mail, then following up with a bill.
In cases like this, where he DID order the items (just, not 4 times -LOL), there might be some law or precedence requiring the return of the extras -at the company's expense, of course- if they want them back.
Dunno.

I believe he said he got 2 invoices with 2 different order numbers. Even if he only ordered them once, he got his order processed twice.

I would point out that, under UK law at least, you are always entitled to send back anything you have bought online within a week (or is it a fortnight?). It doesn't matter if it is damaged or not, you always have the right of return on all products, though you pay the postage. I know that's more awkward when abroad but I though I'd just point it out.
Products that are damaged should be either replaced free of charge or you should be fully refunded. I think you can expect them to pay the return postage in this case.
If they have wrongfully billed you as in this case then raise hell. I point out the above because even if you did accidentally order something twice and pay for it twice, you still have the right to return one or both of them for a refund because you bought them online. Although now it definately sounds like the screw up is at their end.
You should phone them, not email, Forgeworld are notorious for not answering email. I would point out that if they don't shift their ass to give you a refund promptly then what they have done could be construed as fraud in which case you can take your case to the bank and legitimately tell them you have had unauthorised payments taken from your account.

When they're expecting an email from you, they get things done very fast.
Otherwise, they *used* to be sifting through pages and pages of emails and the orders themselves.

Because it very likely is?
My former employer spent an outrageous amount of money on QA for stuff like this, out of probably 20,000k+ bugs reported, maybe 3-5 were the systems fault, the rest were changes that had to be made to stop people from using the system improperly.
Its always stuff like "hey I double click this button, it goes through the system twice, but when it prints out for the guy in the warehouse and he gets 2 identical invoices, he tosses one because he assume's its an error" or "if I have 25 firefox tabs and facebook open ___"
A large corporation is going to have a policy in place and you are going to get screwed and a small business will likely have the time to track down your order, a medium sized business like forgeworld I wouldn't be surprised if they have a billing person come in for a few hours weekly or one day monthly to keep invoices in order.
what he needs to do is
1. gather up all the account/order/credit card statements/whatever he can
2. call them give them whatever information they need, give them a reasonable deadline "well, next friday is the deadline for when I a can contest this on my credit card, so I'd like a phone call back on monday, if not i'll call you back on tuesday"
3. don't be a douche
4. wait
But really, I cant blame FW for taking their time especially with the people that get extra things by accident advertising so loudly on the internet.

They will need to confirm that they have billed you to much , the orders were sent and allow themselfs a correct responce to your query..
However Please note Monday is a bank holiday so you might not see squat till next tuesday
