I went for moderate- It might be the novelty factor with me, but it's been a few months since I've started up again (after a decade-long haitus) so maybe not, but I take to painting my army up (with the purpose of playing) anytime I'm free. And after finishing my GMATs this past April and waiting for school responses... I find I have A LOT more time, and more driven to do stuff esp. when I think about how most of my freetime before was spend studying.. now I make the most of it, however little that is.

I spend all my free time on it. Thinking of armies, new conversions and paint schemes, I play with Army Builder like I used to play video games. I'm always reading, or surfing the net. I'm also an officer in a club of 50 members, so I always have stuff to do.
Basically, after my family and job, it's what I do.

While the impact is moderate to non-existent on occasion, I'd very much like if I could devote most of my time to it, but I can't because my free time is extremely limited.
I've worked out my free time and it's rather depressing. There are only about 4 hours in a day where I'm not working/commuting/sleeping. Furthermore, I have to eat and my GF requires attention so knock off 2 to 2.5 hours from that and now I'm left with roughly 1.5 to 2 hours of time to myself to hobby. It's not much.
What about weekends? HAHAHA! My weekends are always booked with events, get-together's and all other matter of social activities that prevent or detract from potential hobby time.

Just every now and then. Basically I look at my models and think, hmm, I really should carry on with those xD
Main reason for this is because atm I'm not near anyone I know who plays, so yeah.

Biggest hobby, significant impact.
I paint at least 3 new complete armies every year.
I plan my vacation professionally to attend conventions around the country, multiples per year.
Locally I assist in clubs and sponsor events with terrain.
It's like working out, I read books, forums and paint and build miniatures every week.

Very variable. I have lots of hobbies but I tend to over-focus so one of them massively dominates my free time.
Events of the past 18 months have meant that I haven't been able to get out to hobby stuff much so I've been doing a lot of painting. Have actually built and painted 13.5K of armies in that time. (see what I mean about over-focusing...)

I always have a few projects going, but since I picked the hobby back up it has been most of them. After I finish the planetary forces I'm working on, though, I think it will take a back seat to a few other projects I have on the desk.

I'll admit, I ticked Primary. I'm either drawing out hour to week long pictures of Warhammer related things, and I sculpt a very fair amount of .."OK" models...
I really should look into other things, but I'm sure alot of you will agree with me- if it wasn't for the painting/modeling aspect, it would be a much different answer to the poll..

Small impact. I play a game or two a month, paint a model or two now and again. I do have a weakness for rulesets, though; and find myself coming up with new rules and ideas for things a lot, including writing my own wargame. But that's as much to do with my main hobby of writing as it is with wargaming.

To be honest it varies, can feel like small, Moderate to Primary hobby depending on what I'm up to.
At the moment its somewhere between Small and Moderate, I'm converting painting every week, but not playing much more than once a month.
WoW is my primary hobby atm, thus its eating up the most time.

Interesting that you ask that question. I definitely had to say major impact. I spend 4+ hours a day, almost religiously, and that's just with the figures. I'm married with 3 children, an excellent job that allows me mucho computer surfing time, so even when I'm at work, I'm involved. I'm sitting in a virtual shrine to GW, my "Man Cave" the walls look like a dungeon, complete with torches, and there's easily 8000$ of GW stuff around me. My oldest son plays orcs, but he's not a giant fan of painting, so we bond over that, and we take breaks by playing 40K video games, like soulstorm. My 9 year old daughter has a Chaos Marine army that she's working on, and my 4 yr old son is old enough to play the dawn of war video, as well as with any broken figures. Matter of fact, soon as I finish this post, he's having he and I play "army", which involves us pretending to be spess marines. My wife plays Chaos Daemons, so she's involved in the hobby, enters painting contests etc. and for a random present the other day, I bought her Nurgle and Khorne ear-rings from lancer advanced. The family devours black library novels, and have even started on the 40K books on tape, which are excellent for painting to (although on another note, GraphicAudio.net has the worlds best "audio movies" in particular R.A. Salvatore's Daemon Wars Saga). I'm wearing Imperial Guard dog tags right now, and my keychain is that krak grenade from the last con. I also do paperhammer, and find it a challenge to reproduce 40K mini's in paper. I also do fantasy, and my gallery fantasy army(s) can be seen here on dakka.
Every vechicle and pod, and even some of the units in this photo are paper:
And this is what I spent my weekend doing, only taking breaks to do something 40K related with the kids lol:
I'm actually expecting to nearly finish the warlord today, so it's much further along now.
In short, I guess I'm that die-hard "fanatic" that people mention in posts, and under-credit with keeping GW afloat. I'm lucky enough to have enough disposable income to shell out to support this outrageously expensive hobby, but my entire family enjoys it and is eagerly awaiting the 40K movie, so as odd as it sounds, GW is just a part of our family. lol Does that make me nutz?

Completely in love with the hobby, gaming, and the world they've created. While I don't get around to painting as much as I'd like, and now that I'm going to be a father the games are few and far between, I still think about the hobby and make Army lists all the time.
I'm also starting an evil aligned Roleplay with my friends soon.

Its a primary interest of mine. i had to reduce my hobbies from 40k, MTG, video games, and R/C cars down to the bare essentials. I wanted to turn my attention and focus to school so it helped to do this. But now im so ensconsed in 40k that I dont play any PS3, every time i try to I just think about painting! I even have put my favorite sport in the world, football, on the back burner just to paint. On Sunday's when the games are going on, I still turn on the tv, but usually im painting at the same time and not really paying attention. Im a freak when it comes to 40K!!!

My life is regimented ( I get a little flustered if it changes at all).
So I have devoted at least 14 hours a week (Two a day approximately) to painting, building and planning(Army lists).
But since that's only 13.3% of my waking week(Work does not count as awake) I only put it down as “Moderate Impact”.

I voted biggest hobby.
I have no other hobbies as such, i do a lot of sport and play video games but wargaming is my only hobby. If i buy some new minatures my focus is to get them assembled and painted pretty quickly, so that tends to eat up a lot of my free time. Also when i haven't got any models on the go im often dabbling with army lists or seeing how someone would start an army or making up a random themed list. There are also times when i will just re-paint some of my older exsisting models.
So it's a big hobby for me and i certainly play more games if i could, however it's not my only focus.
