The way it works for me is like breaking the forth wall. I realize I am dreaming then I feel as though I am observing me having the dream from above. I can then will what I want to happen in the dream. I can turn a tank into a bouquet of flowers and I will know I did that but it won't have a adverse effect on my dreaming selfs perception of the dream. Effectively, I know I'm controlling it but another me doesn't know and his sequence isn't interrupted by my meddling. I don't know if I could explain it any clearer.

Sure, but even for people who aren't lucid dreaming, it's not like somebody else is setting the plot. They're still doing it, just not as consciously.

Basically what I'm saying, is that you can blame yourself for dreaming bad things, but ultimately, everyone's dreams come from themselves.

I have a recurring "type" of dream. I'm always somewhere, my parents house, my condo, some random house that belongs to either myself or someone I know (even though it's not where anyone actually lives but you KNOW it belongs to someone in the dream).
Anyway, I see someone I know is going to break in and hurt us or rob us, etc and I run to close and lock the door before they get there but I NEVER make it. There's always a struggle at the door and then I usually wake up.
I have lucid dreams sometimes too, the weirdest ones are when I'm in my dream telling myself I'm not awake. I pinch myself or something and say to myself "yup, you're asleep time to wake up". Sometimes I go through 3 or 4 cycles of telling myself I'm not awake before I actually wake up.

One time I had this dream where I was attacked by a gargoyle type thing. In the dream I was standing up straight, saw it and bolted in the other direction, the thing flew at me, tackled me and landed on my legs. I woke up and was laying on my stomach with my head to the side as if I had just been tackled and my legs felt like something heavy was on them.

I mean seriously, my posture looked exaclt like I was tackled, my arms were spread past my head and everything. I was scared gak-less so I didn't want to move. I could wiggle my toes and stuff and eventually gathered enough courage to roll over. When I did, nothing was there and I had no extra sheets or blankets over my legs.

Another time I saw my cat peeking at me from around the corner. That was all fine and dandy, except for the fact that my cat had been dead for about 4 days.

Cat story is creepy. I can relate to it. We used to have an irish wolfhound, you know the type, the massive grey cuddly dogs that you just wanna cuddle for four hours? Anyways, it always slept on my bed, and left a massive indent in the covers. So said dog dies, which was pretty depressing, and i go to bed, and halfway through the night, i wake up, and feel my dog sleeping there. Im so tired is ignore it, and went back to sleep.

Anyways it was only morning that something clicked in my mind that something was up. However, my said pet was still alive. Apparently, after i talked about it , it turns out i must of dreamed my dog had died. Not exactly the same by any means, but it shook me up pretty bad. I love my Irish wolfhound im gonna be real sad when he does die.

Dream about them from time to time and really sad to wake up and find it was just a dream.

My daughter brought Marley and Me to watch on DVD at half term.
Not scary but very harrowing for me at the end. Brought back very sad memories.

Well I have reoccuring dreams a lot but the most recent is the wierdest.

It always starts of in a castle and I am buying a burger, then I go downstairs and follow a path into some more dark rooms and then I appear lying on my face inside a very tight dark, wet tunnel, and however much I shout no one can hear me. I just get more and more panicky and that makes it worse.

The stange thing is that I am usualy able to tell that I am in a dream and make myself wake up of stop dreaming but this time it's taken me ages to be able to remeber and stop dreaming.

Here's a tip to you guys out there:- There are some things you don't mess with. I'm not talking about breaking out a crappily made ouija board at a drunk party. The real stuff is a lot more scary, and a helluva lot more dangerous. All I'll say is that I played around with it, and managed to get out before I got too badly burnt.

Indeed. A buddy of mine lit a Ouija board on fire out of a drunken dare. It actually -screeched-. Like, this wasn't the screech that you get from certain types of wood when they burn. This was an actual vocal screech. And it was LOUD. Wierdest thing is that the three people that were out in the backyard having a smoke didn't hear anything.

I'm not really much of a ghost person, despite the wierd stuff that happened in that house (TV turning on by itself to a screen of static, random power outages at his house -and only- his house, Lights randomly turning off or on), but this definately freaked me out. I haven't laid a finger on one since then.

And i never will!

All that stuff gives me the willies.

As does the hills have eyes and wolf creak, which is why im never planning on going in the outback...

99.9% of ouija board are incorrectly made and used. However, if you're in that 0.1% it spells trouble. BIG trouble. Because you've left yourself wide open, probably have no idea what is about to/could/has already happened, and no idea of how to defend yourself.

It's equivalent to being a bleeding minnow suddenly dropped in a sea of sharks.

Or an untrained Psyker into the currents of the Warp.

In all seriousness though, I'd say that was the only time I damn near browned my shorts. The doll being hung by it's neck was creepy, but there're a million logical explainations for that. But a burning piece of wood -screaming- has me at a loss. Especially since the five of us at the table were the only ones that heard it. I always put the wierd stuff in that house up to crappy electrical, phone, and cable wiring. Since that Ouija board got burned though, I've actually started to wonder. The place used to be a drug house before he moved there, and we'd sometimes find spent .45 and 9mm casings in the basement and around the back yard. I have no doubts that a person/people was/were murdered there.

All I can say is that I'm damn glad he moved out of there a couple years ago. I didn't want to be getting killed in my sleep by something when I crashed there after a party.

While this is easily explained by common sense, it scared me quite a bit at first:

I got home pretty late one night (or morning) and went to the bathroom before turning in for the night. I was turning on the tap to wash my hands when this sound comes from the faucet. It sounded similar to a train horn, or someone yelling "Oooooh" really loudly.

Well, I know how it happens because I experimented with the tap later, but it was not fun at the time.

Sometimes at night, from what seems to be down the street is this strange noise. It sounds like something, metal and hollow falling a fair distance and banging around.

I must be werid but it creeps the fething hell out of me.

No. Usually, I'd laugh, and crack a joke too, but in this case.......no.

There are many different paths to walk in this department, from Wiccanism, to Demonology, to paganism, to warlockry, etc. They all lead to the same end however, they just approach it from a different angle. I could go into more detail, but I know if I tried, I'd immediately get curbstomped by the atheists on here.

No, i understand what you mean. Stuff isn't always explained away, and stuff that you personally believe in can be pretty frightening. I for one, am terrified of an old house. Can't begin to explain why, but somethings wrong their, and i dunno what.

I'll mostly second Ketara, but not to the extent where I'm going to say don't do it ever.

If you really want to get into something, do your research before hand and really, TRULY know what you're getting into. If you're even the slightest bit unprepared, DON'T DO IT. If you have even the smallest doubts, DON'T DO IT. Most of the bad happens because people don't really know what they're getting into, aren't prepared for what they want to do, or don't actually know what they're doing to begin with.

Talk to people that have had experiences before and learn everything you can before attempting anything related to this stuff. Then, only if you're ready and willing to accept all consequences(good, bad, or neutral) do you proceed cautiously and slowly.

This stuff sounds creepier by the minute. What happens, you get haunted and stuff?

Like I said, if a serious discussion of this nature was attempted, it would be immediately trolled by half a dozen more prolific hardcore atheist posters.

Suffice to say, there are some rather nasty consequences.

Me? Not anymore than normal in New Orleans(and even then much less than some ex's and friends).

However, between friends that are sensitive and friends that also practiced(mostly different arts), generally you know if something bad is paying attention and need to get out. I seem to tend to attract those types to me(I have a theory as to why), as well.

So, you know that some 'presence' is coming to get you, and you stop?

Why exactly ARE there bad presences in the first place?
