At my old house, when I was just dropping off to sleep, I would occaisionaly hear voices and sounds that were calm but really nasty. To put it in less words, it sounded wrong.

Also I have bad feelings in places for little reason.

GND, I have a quick question, is your "location" related to the "Cadian Blood" story?

Besides that, Ouiji boards are just plain trouble and I wonder why we sell them in a toy store long with the energy drinks and starbucks frappes.

One time I was in Barnes and Nobles and looked through a book on Wiccan, just reading it gave me a bad vibe so I guess that stuff isn't for me.

We don't have too many "bad" things that happen in our house though. I can guess that this is due to our catholic nature(ie we have crosses in every room of our house, a big painting of Jesus along with palm leaves folded into the shape of the cross at our door, and rosaries made out of olive wood). I would guess that if I did use a ouiji board we would get only the good guys or some really ticked bad guys.

I looked at a website with "rules" for use and I guess that's what happens in those conditions.

Again, you know those things are mass-produced in factories by Milton Bradley (Hasbro), right? I'm in a happy state of ignorance about Ouji boards and I intend to stay that way. It interests me, but from afar. I don't want to get involved in something like that because even though my logical, scientific mind says that it's poppycock, my side that believes in a higher power says that I shouldn't mess because I don't know.

I had what I think was a mild sleep paralysis once, a few years ago. I was lying in bed, and in that half-asleep state where your eyes are open and your brain's still thinking about stuff but you're not really paying attention to the fact that you're looking at anything at all, I distinctly saw a figure, completely black, walk into my room and stand there, and although I couldn't see its face, I knew that it was looking at me.

I jerked up and it wasn't there. I turned over and looked at the wall for the rest of the night, and have proceeded to do so from then on.

I also have a strange sickening feeling when I think about one of the things that was explained by Paranormal Activity to me - one of our biggest fears is what may be happening at night when we are asleep around us, but we have no idea that it's going on. Doors could be opened and closed - people could be inside your house and you would never know. That freaks me out. That and empty houses - my grandparents' house most definately. Right now it's still got everything in it from when they died, and nothing's really been moved. This frightens me, because it's just like they disappeared, and I find it difficult to believe that they have just... gone. Their house lives on, I can feel it.

2 creepy type moments of my own.

One was a couple of years ago at a paintball scenario in Joliet Ill (CPX). After dinner break my wife and I set out on personal missions. The whole day markers had been going off all over the field with several hundred people running around. When we set out though there was no sound whatsoever as we made our way across the field. We both stopped and looked at each other because not even the birds were chirping. It was one of those moments where you feel the hair rise up on your neck. That was more a wow/freaky moment though.

The scary situation was when I was a teenager many moons ago. I was in my bed reading a Time Life series book that they put out on the American Civil War. To my right mounted on the wall were shelves with various teegager stuff on them. They were basically 12" wide planks supported on a wall mounting system - a metal 'hanger' with two metal hooks that slid into the mount. You can pretty much sit on these things and they can hold you up. Anyway I am reading this book and the page I am on has a picture of a letter written by a dying Confederate solder to his father - even had his blood stains on it. I start reading this letter out loud to myself for some reason. I get about two thirds the way through the letter and I hear a crash to my right. I turn to see what happened and the bottom shelf and flipped over and was laying on the floor. Needless to say I quickly shut the book and went to bed.

The next day I checked out the shelf more closely. One mount had fallen with the shelf which was odd. Some of these things you have to get a hammer to knock loose. Odder still was that the shelf had not just dropped like it should have "if" the mount had just dropped. The shelf had flipped completely over like someone had kicked it from underneath. I still can't explain what happened.

Its also a 'little' creepy that when my Grandfather died (in this house) he was laid out for viewing in my bedroom.

Pretty typical "Night Hag" sleep paralysis, I think. Now you know where the old D&D Night Hags come from!

IIRC, some researchers think the Succubi and Incubi legends were also interpretations of sleep paralysis. Wonder how much of the Monster Manual is related to sleep disorders?

That reminds of a ghost story where a black shadow was "choking" a woman and then a ghost came along and saved her. Something about he was a flood watchman who had fallen asleep causing his entire village to die.

I can stand the dark and all those things, but the one thing I hate is silence. Silence gives way to fear, fear gives way to paranoia, paranoia is the greatest weapon of evil. Why am I saying this? Because I have another story.

It was around 11pm, so I was lying in bed struggling to get to sleep, when I rolled over and hit my alarm clock by accident. The alarm clock is reasonably old and so had pieces missing. When I hit it, the battery fell out, and the calming tick-tock it always makes stopped. In less that a minute, a framed poster fell off my wall and smacked a game the ground, causing it to turn on and play its loud noise really close to me. I was up in a second and turned it off. I fell asleep shortly afterwards. In the moring I woke up to see the poster had "fallen" too far away from the wall to be normal. Added with the fact the poster hung from a hook on the wall, the string wasn't broken. I got rid of the poster later that week.

Ok.

I guess its my turn.

First, you all need to know, I work in a hospital. And since I live so far away, I spend a few nights a week in a hospital room on an unused wing. As a matter of fact, as I type this, I am lying in my hospital bed on the 4th floor. I've been working here for over 4 years now, and, between my long shifts and frequent overnight stays, I can say I have spent ALOT of time here. My job here has me all over the hospital and in contact with all the different staff. I have 2 really good stories from several nurses that can corroborate them, but as for as my personal experience, I can tell you about a few minor things. I should tell you I don't know if I believe in ghosts (I would have said def not before I started working here), but I can not stand that television show ghosthunters or anything like it, as I think most all of it can easily be explained. But since I've worked here, I just don't know anymore....

Sometimes, when no one else is around, and I'm walking towards the elevators, they will both open at just the right time, and sometimes I'm not on the ground floor and no one pressed the call button. I've had some serious "get out of here right now" feelings when I've gone to certain places at night, like closed units or empty floors. I've heard unexplained noises and things. Mostly though, I'd say its pretty benign stuff. But then I started hearing stories from experienced staff. I think the ghost pediatric patient and Minerva the nurse are pretty awesome stories, and to watch grown women get very serious and tell me about it with that "I saw it and I'm not crazy" look in their eye is great.

Anyone interested in either one? Its alot to type and I'm not gonna get into it unless someone actually wants to hear them.

I'm glad my door is locked.

In my life I've seen a lot of really weird crap. I have many stories, but most of them require more back story then I feal comfertable giving or that I have mostly forgoten (for which I am very greatful) however there are a few I'm willing to share.

Back in '99 I was working in house security for a local trucking company, many less then natural things happend here.

It was late one night in late '99 and the truck battery giving power to the guard shack had once again died and I would be alone on the lot for a few more hours.
So I'm sitting up against the door to the shack waiting for the rigs to start coming back in again, when I look over to my right and there are two people standing on the grass divider between the Truck Lot & the Employie Lot. One is a tall man in a chaorcle grey pinstripe suit and fedore looking like he just stepped out of the 30's, I think he was smoking becuse I remember seeing a small red glow near his mouth, he eather couldn't see me or didn't care.
The other was a middle aged women wearing what looked like an iridescent snake skin dress, her hair was like silver and her eyes were like glowing opals...She saw me. She took two, maby three steps towards me when one of the companies wayward rig came roaring into the lot, when it had passed by they were gone.

This Truck Lot was always a bit creepy and I was not the only one to experiance thing here, apperantly the Loading Dock was worse. After this the things I experianced on the lot got much, much worse...There where Demons there of that I have little dout.

No good will come of this, No good at all

This one weirds me out really badly. I am a lucid dreamer. If you don't know what that means, I can control my dreams as I have them. I know I do it when I do it. That kind of creeps me out. But what does it worse than that is when I have a night terror (rather common for me) I know I have the ability to control it but I allow the horrible things to happen in the dream. I could stop my brother or mother from being murdered by rewinding the dream and making the truck not exist but I allow it to happen. It really bothers me.

Same here. In fact, when I have a nightmare I rewind and make it scarier and scarier. You know the rush you get from horror movies and such. I guess it's because of that, for example this morning I was having a dream about a zombie apocalypse. I continued going back to make it the scariest I could, In fact, it's a bit weird but I'll occasionally wake up, (not bolt awake but just get up normally) wonder how the dream would continue and go right back to it. I never had any real paranormal experiences, I don't really believe in things like aliens, ghosts (as a Christian there needs to be a distinction made between souls etc... and ghosts, which are souls but kind of hang out, do weird things and don't move on to anywhere) and monsters of most supernatural varieties. That's not to say my mind can't convince me otherwise.

You know that weird feeling you get, you think there is someone/thing right behind you and you think you can see living things in the corner of your eye, I've got that right now. Freaking me right out. I had my legs out with a blanket over them but had to tuck them in, kept thinking something was about to grab me. Weird the way the mind works eh? You know there shouldn't be anything there, and If there was it could still get you. But you just feel better playing along and say taking your feet away from the edge of the bed, puts your mind somewhat to rest and helps you to concentrate on the task at hand. Or sleep

Oh whoops! Just noticed pages 2-4. Nice stories everybody, my hebbiey jebbieys have calmed down a bunch by now, feel much better.
@ CitizinPrime, I definitely want to here these stories!

Ok, I'll tell you the first one I heard. I'll save Minerva for next time.

On the pediatric floor, there is a section that isn't used anymore. No patients have been assigned to these rooms in years. But one room seems to have a guest from long ago that doesn't want to leave, and apparently, doesn't like the silence.
During the day, there is plenty of daily hustle and bustle to keep things satisfactorily entertaining, but after everything has calmed down, and gotten very quiet, something very odd happens. The "Nurse Call" light goes in one particular room. Frequently. I've had 3 nurses verify this. Apparently, when they answer the call light via the in room intercom system, there have been a few instances where they thought they could hear voices.
These nurses have come to terms with this phenomenon and have even found a remedy. They simply leave the television on in that room. As long as the TV is on, the call light never goes off.
I have to say, it sounds like a bored kid that has to be entertained.

I was caught off guard by how frankly the staff explained all this as if it was no big deal.

Oh, and the elevator opened for me again. This time on the 4th floor (not the top floor) for me tonight. No one was around. No other buttons were pressed...

A gamer I am. Game I must.
