My favorite is Sanguinius. Anybody that knows they are going to die in a battle, yet still advancing to participate (e.g. Battle with Horus) in that battle is courageous.

Russ, for outdrinking and eating the emperor, then wrestling him, and taming pretty much the whole fenrisian mythology.

Also, I despise sanguinius. "Oh, how tragic! I must tragically perish in a tragic way in the most tragic time of this tragic imperium!"

This is partly wrong. A lone person did come in even after Sanguinius died. Sanguinius goes all "I know I'm gonna die, but maybe I can stall him. Death charge!" then dies. Then The Emprah shows up and goes all "Zomg, Horus what have you done!" and is still thinking that Horus can be saved. The Emprah then gets his holy-ass handed to him because the Emprah is holding back.

Then a lone terminator runs in to save the day (It use to be a lone guardsman) and proceeds to just die horrifically. The Emprah at that point realized that Horus could not be saved and uses his eye-beam of doom to kill Horus. By this point the Emprah was mortally wounded.

Everyone else comes in and goes "Nooooooooo, we're too late. Let's hook him up to a golden chair"

The end.

Or that's what I've learned over the course of being in Dakka.

Lorgar, Kurze and Morty were close, but in the end it's got to be Alpharius Omegon. I'm currently reading Legion, and even though he hasn't turned up yet (I think...but maybe one of the Alpharius' actually was Alpharius, and the fact that they are all Alpharius made me miss the fact that he was indeed Alphariu...GAH, IT'S SO CONFUSING!) I still know that he's going to be badass. Not only did he run his Legion well, but his manipulations (or rather, Dan Abnett's, but we're counting them as the Primarch's) are even misleading me as well, which is difficult to do in literature. Also, his secret is quite literally mind blowing.

Huzzah! More votes for Perturabo!

Yeah, that's pretty much how helpful my commitment to this thread is going to be from now on. /fail

Yeah. Anyway, when I said siege to it, I meant lay siege to it so I can get Ludd to put a "change vote" on this poll, so I can then consider hopping bandwagon.

Although, doing said changes may result in all the votes being lost.. I know from experience - but that was changing the options, not vote change option.

Perturabo is awesome though - just look at the steel cage (was it?).. or the iron fortress.. or whatever.. I'll have to go and look that up later..

And it isn't off topic.. it's just an extension of the original conversation (i.e. topic).

As for Alpharius.. pff, I know where he lives. I drove a truck through his front room./damn, joke fail.

Ah, so hard to choose. Interesting that so many primarchs are favored that are my most detested. I guess that is why they are opinions.

My opinion, Rogal Dorn. I like his stubbornness, which is offset by his levelheaded tactics. He runs an organized and formal chapter, but none of the rampant glory seeking. *cough* Guilliman *cough* I admire his loyalty and he must have some exceptional qualities (in addition to fortress building) that the Emperor recognized, since he kept him close so often.

What I really want is more face time for primarchs Khan, Vulkan, Perturabo and Corax, so we can really see their personalities. Especially Khan for me. He's like a primarch fluff black hole.

LOOK AT THIS fething GUARDSMAN.

He's spent months fighting a grueling war in which his enemies are demigods allied with daemons, and now he's found himself in the closest thing to Hell he's ever known. He probably wasn't even supposed to get teleported up to the arch-traitor's battle barge in the first place, and just ended up in the wrong place at the worst possible time.

Somehow he's survived horrors beyond comprehension to make his way to the very bridge of Horus' flagship. He saw a veritable angel call upon Horus to answer for his crimes, and he saw that angel die as messily as any guardsman. His Emperor - who he fervently believes is a god incarnate, even if he's not supposed to - lies mortally wounded, and Horus, perhaps, has taken a moment to gloat before he strikes the killing blow.

His armor is slightly more effective than tissue paper, his weapon is slightly more powerful than a flashlight, and Horus' power claw is bigger than his entire body. He stands before a being infused by the dark gods with incalculable power, that can and will obliterate his soul with no more effort than it would take him to swat a gnat. Nothing he can do could possibly make a difference.

He could run. He could turn his weapon on himself. He could give in to the insidious whispers that echo from the ship's corridors into his mind.

Ollanius Pius does the duty his Emperor requires of him. He dies standing, and holding the fething line.

Sanguinius because of the effect his death would have on his legion and later the BA chapter and their predecessors. And the whole bit about him weakening horus just enough for the emperor to swoop in and finish his business.

I know it was a guardsmen. Was. They changed it in one of the editions of Space Hulk I believe. Someone posted the entire little mini-story that came with the game and it mentioned a Terminator who was practically flayed alive in front of the Emperor.

If I recall correctly, wasn't it a Custode who walked into the room after Horus had wounded the Emperor? Or at least thats the fluff in the collected visions book. Which I never quite understood: Emperor-"Okay, Horus has killed millions, turned his back on his father an brothers, and given himself over to the Dark gods of Chaos. He can still be saved."
*Random Custode walks in, Horus hits him with a mind-lazor.*
Emperor-"NOOO!!! Not nameless Custode #253! He's gone too far this time!" *Proceeds to eat Horus' face.*
