Will you be starting a Dark Eldar army based solely on the new models?
Yes, I love them!
No, they still don't do it for me.
My old Dark Eldar models are fine for me.
I just can't decide...maybe?
It totally depends on the rules in the new codex.
I don't feel like starting any new armies, no matter how good the models are.
I don't play 40k.

Unfortunately, my wallet tells me it'll be some time before I can get serious about buying models.

I'll at least be buying the codex and Lelith as soon as they're available, but yes, the models alone are nice enough to inspire me to start an army - regardless of how the rules stand up to the rest of the 5th edition armies.

Ditto. I play DE already as an aside to my main Orks, but when the new models are released I'm going to put the Green-Skinz on the backburner for a bit.

I'll probably add some of the new ones to my existing DE army over time, but with so many other projects it's low priority. I did buy one box of the Wyches already just to check them out since there was no such sprue in the Black Box. I'm still okay with my existing painted DE models, so I'm not in a big hurry to outright replace them all.

I just ordered the new book, the Archon and a box of warriors, besides that I don't think I will get anything else for a while.

Maybe some band wagon fans will lose interest in a month or so and trade all their models off for cheap... Well that's usually the reason why I pick up a new army, this time I already play it so double win.

no. I am starting a dark eldar army because I want the old models before they disappear. I already have 2 squads of old dark eldar worriers, 2 old cloaked incubi and an old raider. Though i will buy some of the new models to mix in with the old ones.

I just got shown the full on actual codex today! The guy down a GW just took it out and gave me a guided tour of it. He didnt let me see the pics or the stats and unit info at the back but he took me through the fluff and background and all the unit and charater info in the middle.

Couldnt believe it! Cant wait to buy it.

All the rumours are true by the way! The poisonned weapons and the stats and everything.

Some seriously sick brutal stuff in there! Gonna be over powered but I dont care. Im not a noob and Im not jumping on the band wagon so in my opinion, its compensation for all the games weve lost in the past! lol

Its not cause the models its cause their my favorite army in 40k! Sadly as much as I love Dark Eldar, I probably wont be able to get a new army. Wally the wallet doesn't wanna go hungry again.

I've already got craftworld eldar, and pretty much every incarnation of chaos, so I don't feel these guys are going to fill in any gaps I'm missing. Love the models though, and can't wait to see how they play. Looking forward to the new dynamics they'll add to the game.

I voted no, as I have no inclination to start a 2nd 40k army right now.

I hope to start a Fantasy army soon, but I do not think that counts.

My wallet has managed to convince me that my Dark Eldar army will look fine containing a mix of about 2/3 old models, 1/3 new models, and a few Rogue Trader era Eldar for characters.

Nope

But I will find a way to fit a couple of those reavers into a bike squad as "counts as" models cause those things are wicked sweet.

Looked through the 'dex at my FLGS.
Some of the rules there are horrendous.

The Ravager (Raider with all the gribbly HW) can fire as it moves, even at Cruise speed.

And guess what? It can deep strike. At cruise speed.

'Hello Guard Tanks! What's that? Oh just my Ravager! Goodbye guard tanks!'

Unbalanced.

I really like how the army looks but I am still funding and paying for my chaos army, and really DE and chaos are pretty similar. However, I do really like the models and think its a good improvement.

Sticking with my craftworld eldar for now but might be tempted to steal some bits from the DE kits to enhance them. Just hope when they do get round to redoing craftworld eldar the guardians look as nice as the warriors.

The Raider has potential though.

My thoughts exactly. They went from models with bad execution and a bad design to models that have really good execution, but still with a bad design.

The only thing that salvages the new DE line is the raiders, which are WAY better than the old ones (the new jetbikes are also not as bad as the old ones, but still...)

I ticked it totally depends on the rules in the new codex.

My reasoning for this, is that not long after I started playing 40k, I caught glimpse of the old Dark Eldar Warriors, and loved all the spiky bits and stuff on them, and just thought they looked generally badass. I then proceeded to play Dawn of War: Soulstorm (I was a HUGE DoW fan and had all the games) which further sealed the deal. Then I got my hands on the old 'dex, which I found out a little nit about the nature of the DE, how fast they are etc.

Hence the deal was done for me years ago, based mainly on their lore. Reason I didn't start earlier, is because I knew a new dex update wasn't too far off, and I didn't want to have to completely rebuild a gathered army. And here it is! And I have to say, they did a GREAT job (Gav Thorpe is pretty awesome though) with the models and rules.

My only snag with the new model designs are two things:

1) The Incubi now have swords, I preferred the halberd, plus the two handed swords makes the posing of 3/5 of the models look awkward.
2) There is something about the new Wyches I don't like. It may be the way they're painted, or the fact that the old Wyches looked like they'd just jumped out of a gladatorial arena into battle whereas these ones are actually geared up for battle. But again, I'm not sure what it is that I don't like about them.

So although I didn't start an army, I have picked up three boxes of Dark Eldar. Awesome models.
