I'd assume by using your Dakka login as the Name, thats what I did, the point of contact is your email, not the name.

First off... SUCCESS! Made a lurker into a first post member ;D Welcome to the site mate.

We will pick the 5 winners randomly via. this thread. The name you can input is your real name or dakka name, either is fine.

When we pick the winner on Dakka, we will drop them a pm asking for their email address. Then we cross check our database to see if the winners are on our list. Thats how we will verify. If someone simply posts here that they joined but didn't.... well then we move onto the next valid winner.

International winners are A'OK.

Just want to note: We cannot get direct order items. But I'm PRETTY sure no winner wants a simple direct only model. haha ;D

I see how this works and I get it. The thing that makes me laugh is there are frequent threads about stores closing and the usual lamentations etc about the state of the wargaming industry and availability of places to play. For those that don't have a FLGS to play at, totally get it - for those of you that do and enjoy it and the atmosphere etc why are you doing this?

I view the extra I pay in a B&M store as a sort of "cover charge" or "membership fee" that gives me a place to sit down, chat, avoid the stresses of life and hide from the wife occasionally. By the way - if you are going to type that you buy paint, coke and the odd blister so you "support" your FLGS just delete your post as that is a real assassine comment/ argument to make.

The basic gist is, buy from your FLGS (if you have one) or it isn't going to be there. It really doesn't get any simpler than that. Buy from FLGS it stays in business - don't buy and it goes "poof". That saving may cost you in the longer term in the shape of less people to play as the community gathering spots become fewer and fewer in number. The number of places in Seattle etc are getting very thin on the ground and it isn;t looking good for the future.

If you don't have a FLGS I totally understand getting the cheapest price - I would totally do the same.

90%+ of my spend is in a store - the other 10% is usually stuff that I cannot get in a store.

I suppose part of my reason for not liking this particular thread is my favorite model shop (for military kits) American Eagle is shutting down. They just cannot compete against a warehouse with a website that relies on volume through much lower margins and has an international customer base. People would come in, look at the models, have them opened and then go buy on line but then come back in for paint etc. Now, I have to find another model store where I can browse and ask advice but I can see at some point it is all going to be via internet.
