One thing that is so fantastic about this codex is the ability to really field many different types of armies with the same set of models.
Purgation Squads
Strike Squads
Interceptor Squads
Purifier Squads
are all just Grey Knights in Power armor and Terminators can also be paladins.
Am I reading Crowe's rules right, any enemy unit that charges HIM gets furious charge?

Between him and the Decapitator, it's like the guys at GW HQ were having a contest to make the worst character in the game.
And is it just me, or is the Grand Master crazy kinds of awesome? I'd take him over Draigo almost every single time, unless you really, really wanted to do an all Paladin army. Rad grenades, grand strategy, relatively modest price point. He could end up having CCS level of support utility, while also packing more punch than most armies' special characters.

Where are you getting this from? I see nothing that indicates as such.
The description in the Strike Squads says nothing about changing their FoC slot, and the option for teleporters is in the Strike Squad's wargear, who are troops.
I am really bummed out about not being able to take Land Raiders as dedicated transports on ANYBODY!
I see people constantly afraid of how "expensive" Grey Knights are, but a lot of that is just people taking superflous upgrades. Your basic Grey Knight squad with 2 Psycannons @ 240 points is quite reasonable.
says so in the codex. it is in your FGLS by now on display

Hi,
I've read several rumours noting that Strike Squads with the 'Teleporter' option can 'shut' 30' once per game. If they take the 'Teleporter' option they become Fast Attack.
Two Questions:
1) Is this an additional amendment in the SS Troops Entry, or do they have a seperate entry in the Fast Attack Slot (and renamed interceptor squads)?
2) Can they also move like jump pack troops? Not in the sense that they can ignore terrain during their 30' 'shut' move, but able to move 12' in the movement phase over (or in this case through) any form or terrain (like Assault Marines).
Some people have confirmed they move like Jump Pack troops, but have not specified exactly how often. I'm just after a clarification. Someone who has seen the dex would be great.
Depending upon thier movement will obviously relate to their worth, so I think the clarification is a fair question for the 'serious' thread :-)
Cheers!

The point of this thread is to discuss some actual Grey Knight codex combinations, tactics, and their potential impact on the game.
Forget about the actual grey knights aspect of this codex, this is the perfect dex, alongside henchmen, to use for an admech army! All hail MARZ!
I mean you have skitarii with warrior acolytes, praetorians in well a lot of stuff, and hypatists in jokaero. you can EVEN have servitors as troops. and then you have that certain new MC model going around for other certain aspect of the admech.
THEN you have full on Ordo: Xenos, Malleus, and Hereticus armies you can build by name from the new codex.
to me, picking up the grey knights will be secondary to these other two aspects, factions of the imperium which have LONG deserved their own codex more than the ultraclone variations such as blood angels, dark angels and the like, and I'm glad to see they finally have their chance to shine, if for the ad mech at least, only by proxy. The leaked codex was a dev copy, which means it's not going to be the same, the grey knights with teleporters have been confirmed but are called interceptor squads and are fast attack. Not a big surprise that that would be changed after a MINOR amount of playtesting.

Sick.
That is the best news I have heard to date!
... But just to confirm, as I don't have a BBB handy, does being 'jump infantry' allow you to move 12'?

I was interesting In running an all-termie army with something along the lines of 4 5-man termie squads, 9 paladins all tooled out, 3 dredknights for firemagnet destraction awesomeness and a couple of stromravens. Oh, and probably a GM, for What I think would be somewhere around 2500 points. I haven't read the real codex, or the fandex, so can someone let me know if this list is plausible, not as something really competitive, but more along the lines of fun but still strong.

Based on the leaked (not a fandex, it's an early playtest copy) this army with very minimal upgrades is about 2520 points. That's with taking Heavy Psycannons on the Dreadknights, but they can be kept cheap and you could make it fit easily.
I'm sure that would be a lot of fun, but I can't really evaluate it's strength without looking at the actual codex. Hope that helps.

I have to say, it really depends on what you're going against. Paladins endure massed small-arms fire much more efficiently than normal terminators, what with being 4 times resiliant to small arms as well as not taking losses until the entire unit suffers a wound (if you do it right).

Thanks, It does. I was plaining on using the dreadknights almost bare, because from what I've heard, They are a super bullet-magnet/destraction/general battle-plan messer-upper.
They could just keep the enemy occupied for a turn or three while the termies advance.

For the mostly termie army, forget the Stormravens. Go on foot.
Use a grand master, take servo skulls, give 1-3 of your termie troops scout with Grand Strategy, move them up, then drop in the rest with low scatter near your skulls on turn two.

I'm thinking 60 PAGK's in 1850
Libby w/Shrouding
Vindicare
10 Purifiers w/4 Psycannons
4x10 Strikes w/2 Psycannons & Psybolt Ammo
10 Interceptors w/2 Pyscannons & Pysbolt Ammo
All the point values are based on the leaked Pdf since my FLGS won't get the preview codex till next week. But at those points it's still 15pts under. I'm pretty sure though it would be nasty as all get out. You'd actually outnumber most marine armies at this point but with far better units. It's got 14 Psycannons and 40 St5 Stormbolters a turn. Shrouding from the libby helps with better cover saves for a portion of the army. I think it would work rather well

I will be fielding Draigo. The model is just too good, and the rules aren't shabby either. Paladins have some very interesting permutations that I think some people aren't taking into account. In my opinion, this Codex will represent the renaissance of foot Marines in modern 40k.

So the Librarian's Summoning power. Seems it can be used twice in one turn as its not a shootiing power.
My question is, when the models are placed within 6 inches of the Libbie, using deep strike rules, does that mean they scatter, or does that just mean they cannot assault?
Also, since the Libbie can take the teleport homer, if the Summoning power does cause scatterdoes the teleport homer negate the scatter? Automatically Appended Next Post: necronsftw wrote:That seems like a good list to use and will preform much better than the terminator builds
Yeah I realize that, but since my other army is mech, I figured a non-nech GK army could be fun, and decent. Not super competitive, but decent.
