I must admit that one of these packs is very tempting, Infinity has always interested me. But I've just preordered Mantic's Dwarf Kings Hold and I'm working on a Sorylian Fleet for Firestorm Amada so I really can't afford to get into another game.

Oh well maybe next time they do some sort of bundle deal or have a sale I might pick up a couple of armies and the rule book.

Looks like they are having problems with their new website.
No problem with the online store, different server.

IMHO the best Army pack is the ALEPH because they are more recent miniatures. Also, the Haqqislam starter pack is from 2010 so, it also a very good deal.

EDIT:
Ok, now... this is a very intelligent manouver... we are being attacked now in different fronts...
BEASTS OF WAR now release Quickstart Rules for Infinity:

I guess this would also be supported with videos. Nice move.

Infinity has heaps of great models across their range, but aside from the deep savings, I think I'm going to pass on this (damn it). Why can their Haqqislam box feature some of the nicer models ?!

I did the math and since shipping from spain to portugal is only 8 euro for aleph pack its some awesome savings... even from discount stores i save something around 20 euro.

Something is very off here: I just checked the Warstore (since I also found the CB website a bit annoying), and there is no way the original price is 90 euros. Unless the pricing in US dollars is insanely cheaper then the euro price (MSRP);
Aleph starter: ($46.50) $37.99, listed on CB website at 42.25 euro.
Combine: ($46.55) $37.99, 47.85 euro on CB, so on and so forth...

So, the prices on the CB website are before discount? Just insanely jacked up when you buy in euros?

Meh, if this is the case, no reason not to just buy from the Warstore if you're in the US (I shudder to imagine what shipping from Spain would be), but something is clearly off here...

I've only got about 4 games under my belt so far, but man is it fun. It's kinda refreshing from 40k that there really isn't any useless models, even the basic 9 point guys (the cheerleaders lol) can even pull their weight with lookout on the rear and volume fire hoping for criticals vs that TAG jumping down your throat.

Just a heads up that these are NOT the starter packs that are typically like 50 bucks, there are full armies for the game. You are looking at a less then $100 US (depending on where you live) for a full army in game, which yes may be few models overall but they are absolutely gorgeous and well worth the $. Not trying to Fanboi them, just that impressed with this marketing push for the game.

Well, when I go to put in Invoice Order address like it mandates I do, the list of countries does not include USA. Unless I overlooked it twice, which is certainly possible.

You are looking at a starter pack vs these one time starter armies. Starter ~165 vs Starter Army (this deal) 300+ points of ouch that's gonna hurt.

Kirb - that threw me off too, scroll down to practically the very bottom and there is another list of countries. If memory serves right it's near the very bottom of the list.

I think you are confusing the Starter packs with this Army packs. The Starters are boxes with 6 infantry minis. This Army packs include 1 Starter and some blisters. Some of this packs even have TAGs (the equivalent for dreadnoughts).

For example, the ALEPH army pack includes this:

http://www.thewarstore.com/product53010.html
http://www.thewarstore.com/product53930.html
http://www.thewarstore.com/product54251.html

So yes, there is a difference

Btw for you guys starting make sure you check out the BeastofWar video walk throughs. While being about 99% accurate so far, they have done a fantastic job of breaking down the game to serious baby steps. They even did up that starter rules kit PDF that is worth the artwork alone in a download for free.

Yup, I see now. I gotta be honest, I'd rather have a better buy on the starter, but that's me coming at it as someone that a) doesn't know the rules, and b) doesn't have the cash to drop on a full size army at the moment, but wouldn't mind a cheap starter....

Oh well, Beasts of War has a whole week to convince me otherwise, hehe.

One thing I did notice is that most of the value seems to be in the TAG models.

http://www.thewarstore.com/product52422.html ($37.99)
http://www.thewarstore.com/product53010.html ($8.99)
http://www.thewarstore.com/product53930.html ($8.99)
http://www.thewarstore.com/product54251.html ($40.99)

Also, be aware that once you configure the CB website for the US, the shipping varies wildly (some armies are like twice others to ship).

Ok, I don´t want to sound rude, so, please, do not misinterpretate this.
But here is the USA in CB Online Store.

It is not the most easy-friendly online store I had visited, but they do ship to USA.

These are not starters... the starters have 6 minis and are 30euro at discount stores... these are ARMIES sets... your basically done with these... PP armies cost around 200 or more euros I find infinity quite afordable...

In my opinion 90 euro is still a lot of money to drop on 10 figures. Makes GW figures look cheap.

90 dollars in figures to play a full army game of Infinity. How many models does it take to play 40k? How many people actually take the time to paint and full assemble said models for 40k?

Oh really? lets make some quick math?

Have you actually compared metal to metal blister to blister right?

GW UK ( the cheapest) metal individual blisters are like between 8-12 pounds and something equivalent in size to the big beasts on this box of infinity say... greater demons are like 36pounds... so 9x of THE CHEAPEST metal blister and one box of a metal big fella runs you a totall of 108 pounds thats like 124 euros ( going for cheapest UK prices and cheapest crappy metal blisters) hardly 90 euros!!!

Big diference is the quality you get on infinity and the fact your army is finished! with 90euro!...

Come on.

Yeah the site is probably getting hammered right about now. Their servers have never been the greatest and the combo of the new site + the rush.. we prob killed it lol.

Here is a link to their actual online webstore: http://www.corvusbelli.com/ and the downloadable free army builder if you wanna poke around: http://telefonica.net/web/jp-fuster/infinity/army3.air

To answer your question it's the 2nd edition rule book at the human sphere additional rules (expansion pretty much). Remember the rules are a free download from their site but I believe the books have a pile of artwork and fluff.

The books are the Rulebook (2nd ed) and the Human Sphere expansion. Both books have rules, background and army lists. Both sets of rules and army lists can be downloaded from their website. The difference is that while the Rulebook contains the main rules and army lists, the Human Sphere expansion contains newer rules for Sectorial armies, the background and army list for ALEPH (a new faction introduced in this book), updates for the army lists in the main Rulebook, and the Sectorial armies lists.

The Sectorial armies are alternative lists wich are more specialized than the normal lists. For example, instead of using the regular army list of Ariadna (wich has troops from Scotland, France, Russia and USA), you can build a list of Caledonians or Merovingians. This means you can concentrate in using only Scotish or only French troops. You have less options to choose from, but in the other hand, some minis that were limited for example to one per army won't have that limit in their Sectorial. Depending on the mini you could take up to 4. With this rules you can build up a Knights army, instead of the standard Pano army.

I am curious about Infinity- lots of great sculpts. Did they fix the dense and boring background in the book? I thought the translation of the first edition wasn't the greatest. Great ideas in there, though.

This is my predicament as well... most all folks around here play Warmachine/Hordes or 40K/WHFB. I'd be stuck with no one to play with... and the shop I used to go to up in the Bay Area doesn't play as much Infinity as they did before.

Still the models would just be fun to work on.
