Look nice - particularly the Wraithseer. Makes me wish I had money to spend right now...

And the wings on the Corsairs were a pleasant surprise. I can't remember the last time I saw a picture of Eldar with those.

Why do I get the feeling the Wraithseer is a private conversion turned April's 1st joke? The hands seem awfully clunky...

It won't be. Once again:

Forge World does not do April Fool's Jokes, nor do they actually display conversions from their employees in the newsletter.

Do you sometimes see conversions of stuff like that at the Forge World Open Day, Games Days, or in the Imperial Armour books?

Yeah. Yeah, you do. But at Open+Games Days, they very clearly tell you "this is a conversion done by X, ask him how he did it!".

I love the Wraithseer, but the Corsairs just look like guardians with crappy insect wing backpacks.

That wraithseer is out of control. FW be praised! (Now to forget those dispaoointing Cadian upgrades.) What an amazing unit idea -- hopefully it will get adopted for a new Eldar dex, whenever it comes around.

To be fair, that's what the original Rogue Trader art for Eldar looked like. They had bug wings.

I'm mainly concerned about the fact that those puppies will snap very, very easily.

Looks like they're packin' lasweapons, which is a nice return as well. Those of us with significant stockpiles of the old Eldar weapon frames are going to have some pretty easy conversions on our hands. Those, a press-mold of the Vyper pilot head, some plasticard wings- blammo.

But I'll definitely buy the wraithlord kit. Man, is that thing pretty.

EDIT- Just realized how detailed the backpacks are- screw converting, I'm buying the FW stuff. Nice works, guys.

Also, this might mean some jump infantry that don't suck as bad as the Hawks do right now. C'mon FW, gimme some rules that make me want to blow cash on your products!

I do love that the corsair leader has a fusion pistol. Are those guns something new too, I suppose?

The wraithseer is a lovely model - almost makes me regret trading off all of my eldar. But the Corsairs.... THEY make we want to start a new army altogether with a very specific theme:

I just realized that Oni forgot to post the description included. There seems to be an explanation as to that

Forge World Corsair blurb wrote:There are many bands of so-called ‘Corsair’ Eldar scattered across the galaxy, and all are savage and deadly raiders. Outcasts from the strict confines of the Craftworlds, the Corsairs live in self-imposed exile, seeking to explore the galaxy and experience the full gamut of emotion and sensation accessible to the Eldar’s sensitive psyche.

Most are young and adventurous Eldar who will eventually return to their homes older, wiser and tempered by warfare. Some, however, embrace the raider’s life completely and fall further still, becoming ever more bloodthirsty and psychotic, indulging their darkest impulses and eventually seeking out the infamous Dark City.

Here's the piece for the Wraithseer:
Forge World Wraithseer blurb wrote:Rare and precious beyond compare, their souls protected from the predations of Slaanesh within spirit stones, long-dead Warlocks of great power can still be summoned to aid their Craftworld in the form of a Wraithseer. Armed with a lethal D-Cannon and a Wraithblade wreathed in the eldritch energy of their psychic arts, a Wraithseer is a terrible and implacable foe.

So it pretty much tells us Wraithseers will be Psykers, and that Corsairs can eventually become Dark Eldar.

Fun!

interesting that the Corsairs are a third Eldar faction, and that they're a link between the Craftworlds and Commorragh. I wonder if there's possibilities for Dark Eldar to move to the Craftworlds? [I know that there's one DE that goes to a C'world in path of the Warrior, but are there more?]

I love them both, seriously! That and the battle board extension = winning...duh!

I don't mind the packs on the corsairs, makes me think of a kind of delicate looking 'aether sail' or something, which in my take on Eldar, works just fine.

My only nitpick would be to say I am not a huge fan of 'browless' Eldar helmets, and I miss the ol' Jes Goodwyn style runes on the front, although I realize they aren't aspect warriors. It is just something I always liked aesthetically.

Still, very nice, Eldar players and collectors should be very happy with FW these days!

Path of the Warrior touches on this a bit.

Long story short -
Spoiler:
it's not easy. The Craftworlders don't trust their Dark kindred for obvious reasons. But it is possible. And it also appears to be *extremely* rare. Any Dark Eldar who join the craftworlds are probably going to start out as Aspect Warriors while the acclimate; the one in the novel is a former incubi who joined a Striking Scorpions shrine.

Keep in mind that going the Craftworld->Corsair->Dark Eldar route essentially involves giving into the basic nature of the Eldar psyche, whereas going the opposite route essentially involves denying that. As such, the former is going to be a lot more common than the latter.

Wraithseer is a must have for me, but I don't like the Corsairs at all: They are just Guardians with ugly Rogue Trader era Eldar helmets and funny fairy wings. Not at all having the pirate feeling.

BTW BigBarryJazz over at Warseer posted the original Rogue Trade art:

I would be interested to see if the Corsair parts will work on the Dark Eldar Warriors kit. Its much more up to date/higher detail than the rather dated Guardian kit and I really think you could pull off the whole Pirate look much better with the harsher lines and generally more evil look of the DE armour. From a fluff perspective they probably should have considered this, as depending on how far away from the Path you are the more likely you are to end up with Dark Eldar equipment.

Likely really a psyker, now that we've got Librarian Dreadnoughts

Psychic MCs have been around for a while now. I'm just surprised it's taken GW THIS long to do one for Eldar(especially considering that Epic used to have Psytitans for them).

But it looks like the Dreadknight has another semi-mechanical Psychic MC to pal around with.

The Wraithseer is the small variant of the Warlock Titan:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat490034a&prodId=prod1110094

Eldar Warlock Titan

A Warlock Titan contains within its wraithbone core the spirits of mighty Eldar Seers and Warlocks. As they were powerful psykers in life, so too are they in death. The psychic strength of these dead spirits, focused and amplified by the titan's wraithbone structure is phenomenal, far outstripping the powers of the living.

I'm loving the attention the Eldar are getting from FW due to the next release of IA.

It does throw up some interesting questions for the next Eldar codex release though.

Why make a wraithlord psychic?

If you ask me it's a real possibility that you will be able to take 3 WL's as a single heavy support choice. Couple this with being able to upgrade one to become a Wraithseer to stop the other two from suffering wraithsight. So they will not need a babysitter.

As a side note, isn't that a large shimmer shield that the Wraithseer has on it's arm?

If it is then this will counter another one of the WL's current weaknesses namely PF or Pclaws.

This is only my own musings however it still means happy times for all Eldar players.
