I would suggest that the contestants would be marked on both like Golden Demon entries? Maybe that wasn't clear. My bad.

I think he meant a pure conversion contest for those with fail painting skills but who really like and/or are good at converting

Can't truthfully answer that one. On the B&C he's Kurgan the Lurker, has baseball (I think) logo for a face at the moment, a red indian with a blue feather. Failing that you could ask Brother Tyler or Brother Argos.

i like the dice idea but maybe a set of dice for 1.2.3rd and a trophy for first place im sure we could get one sculpted up by one of the tallented people on here then get them cast by one of the companys that are on here alot eg chapterhouse and others .

Sorry all. I've been a touch busy!

Made a few decisions but i want to go over them again before i post them up. I am hoping to write them up tomorrow as i have no plans. I'll also think out a couple of other things too.

Is "Dakka" supporting this?

I haven't requested as of yet. I don't want to present them with a half assed idea that just makes me look like an idiot. Haha.

When i post up some solids tomorrow i'll request support from admin. On the other hand i am considering running this independently and make a 'trade' with Dakka. I get to use Dakka to host and in return i only allow Dakkaites to enter. Should hopefully bring some extra traffic to Dakka, at least after a year or two of the word being spread. They may even be able to hike up advertising prices during the event to bring in more dosh.

I will raise the topic tomorrow. Keep an eye out!

Sweet, I think you should. It would be silly not to do this.

The challenge would be governing "legit" entries and not the ones that were "contracted out". But I guess that would be near impossible to manage.

That would be Super awesome! Although It might be alright to allow primer. You could set the allowed color or it could be any SINGLE colour.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all develops. I'm a long way from being able to enter something like this but I always love checking out the fantastic paint jobs I see in threads here.

Very, very good point! Yes i completely agree! Although i think i may request one of the pictures to be without primer so the judges can see where all the work has gone in. Sound good.

Not at all. This is one for the masses mate, you never know you might win! My point is, when the time comes, join up and see how you place. If you don't win then you have something to beat next year.

Trophy could be Ghazzy painted gold decently and mounted on something better than just a base to turn him into a trophy?

For verification, design an official entry logo, and have entrants print it out and include it in a pic with the model being entered.

I don't want to offend anyone, but having members with higher post counts who are willing to do some of the "official" parts would be a good idea.

It would be nice if this gets approved by Yakface and the mods! Is there going to be a diorama categorie? Also, what is the "Fight!" categorie? Good luck with getting approval!

Naming the event and designing the trophy:
So i was trying to think of things that covered all our hobbies so as not to discriminate. I came up with a couple of ideas.
Lion's Claw(Steampunk lion paw trophy): Click here for my reason.
MekaBrush or MechBrush(Steampunk paintbrush/airbrush trophy)
I prefer Lion's Claw as the event and a Steampunk paintbrush/airbrush as the trophy.

Trophies will be presented to those who achieve first place in each category. 2nd and 3rd places shall receive a set of custom dice.
An overall winner should receive a bundle prize of goodies.

Categories are as follows:
Category 1
Science Fiction Single Miniature
Category 2
Science Fiction Unit(5-10 models)
Category 3
Science Fiction Monster
Category 4
Science Fiction Vehicle

Category 5
Fantasy Single Miniature
Category 6

Rules:
a) Each category can be entered once per person not per Dakka account.
b) There will be an entry fee for each category that must be payed before your entries are considered.
c) Each category will be shortlisted by the judges then Dakka members will be allowed to vote on the shortlisted entries to decide on the winner. Judges and affiliates may not enter but may vote.
d) The entry with most votes overall will receive a bundle prize.
e) All entries must be submitted between October 15th and October 31st. Shortlists will be polled between November 10th and November 30th. Winners announced December 1st.
f) Entries must be formatted as up to 5 separate images. All images must be photographed as shown here. Close ups of details can be presented as one or more of your image slots or attached to white space on your other images.
g) Each entry can only be entered once. It may never be entered again.
h) You may not take credit for someone else's work. All of your entries must be converted/painted by yourself.

It would be nice to give it to charity but we need to see if we have anything left over first, haha. The logo idea is a good call. Looking at the work thats going to be needing done and the fact that money is involved it's looking more and more like admin and me will be the only ones able to do the official stuff.

'Fight!' is a mixture of Golden Demons 'Duel' and 'Diorama' categories. 'Fluff' incorporates the rest of 'Diorama' category.

You could be right there. may have to lose some categories until we see how many people enter in the first year.

i am loving it but a concern i find, from what i see adults are generally better painters than kids so maby we could include a youngbloods entry to make it a bit more of a chance for the kids, apart from that, loving it

I thought about doing this but it raises more problems than it solves. How to prove age? Short of asking for a picture of the person holding there open passport i don't see a way around it... Also some kids are amazing and some adults are awful. It seems fairer to bundle all ages together.
