eeeeeeeeeehhhh. I kinda wish the contemptor wasn't the new hotness. The rules are nice but the model just continues to remind me of a fat little gundam. I don't feel it's got the 40k aesthetic (which I guess is excusable since it's 30k, right?).

Can someone be helpful at point out where the Contemptor pattern dreads are shown? That's a lot of video to sift through. Wouldn't mind seeing the Forgefather as well...

I was hoping for something over the top; huge with loads of cables, vents and coils. :( It would've been cool if the gun generated a singularity which was then fired at the enemy, hitting everything in the traced line of fire (AP1 of course). After reading up on some fluff (couldn't find much), it seems more likely that it will be used to pin or slow down units instead of obliterating them.

Is it just me, or does the Contemptor in the image numbered 2 look like it has a plasma gun rather than a plasma cannon?

I do like the look of the Praetor - reminds me of a MLRS...

Yeah, he said Plasma Gun in the presentation.

He might have meant Plasma Cannon or one of the other designers there countermanded his statement in an interview though, who knows.

EDIT: Just found my copy of IA9, and it's "Armenneus Valthex". Well, I wasn't totally wrong when it came to remembering his name... Hmm, the crazy McRobotentacles are part of his Indynabula Array. Can't say it's quite what I pictured when I first took a gander at his page in IA9, but it more or less fits his description.

It is. The shoulderpads are going to be removable so you can use him for whatever Chapter you want.

You have to remember how much taller the contemptors are to a normal dreadnought. That makes the plasma weapon consistent in size to the normal dreadnoughts plasma cannon, without any consideration to the superior tech used to build these.

Indeed. Either way, the Contemptor is quite a nice little piece even if it looks out of place in many Astartes forces.

Truth be told, I kind of think that the out of place part makes it more unique.

Thanks Kroothawk for filling in the Warhammer Forge bits... very interesting stuff, I actually think with these kinds of releases they'll get more momentum and people will start biting.

Now if only Storm of Magic had been like Apocalypse for Fantasy, they'd actually have a more fertile field to sow...

The local GW manager mentioned that they might get in the warhammer forge Tamurkhan book a few weeks after it's released... has anyone else heard similar? I told him I'd hold off on getting it in case they did (support the local store, etc etc) but I'm curious if it's going to turn out to be true or not.
