I have no idea where I get the bits that I have sometimes. I think these are chaos heavy bolter arms.
My Chaos Dread came with three arm variants for either arm. A claw, hammer, and then the 5 finger things as a CCW and then Autocannon, Plasma Cannon and Heavy Bolter for the gun arm, and all this was inside the sealed box

I don't. I'm also not counting the Libby/Furioso/ DC because it's not a "Loyalist" Dreadnought proper, but a Blood Angels one.
"Loyalist" implies that they're usable by the entirety of the Loyalists. Blood Angels are a Loyalist faction, but not all Loyalists are Blood Angels. Automatically Appended Next Post: I should also add that I'm not counting the standard washing machine Dreadnought because it's no spring chicken itself.

Those are false distinctions you create and enforce only for yourself, Kan. Also, by the logic employed by yourself for the Furioso(not usable by the entirety of loyalists), the Ironclad shouldn't count because only a single codex out of 5 can use it.

Of course they are, but it also doesn't actually change the fact that the basic Dreadnought kit is pretty damn old, same as the metal Chaos one. The only difference is that the plastic one has had a few variants released over the years.
Does it suck that the best way to get reliable, complete options for Chaos Dreadnoughts is Forge World? Yeah. But eh. Crap happens.
Also, by the logic employed by yourself for the Furioso(not usable by the entirety of loyalists), the Ironclad shouldn't count because only a single codex out of 5 can use it.
Fine by me. Either way still proves my point that for all the supposed love that Marines get, rather than making one single kit to sell across the entirety of the Marine Codices they've made multiple smaller ones and released them piecemeal.
Hell, if it hadn't been for Planetstrike--we wouldn't have the Ironclad.

Even worse, it appears sometimes even money and exposure don't matter to GW. Apparently, they are having it in Chicago again next year in spite of the massive drop-off in attendance. When it comes to GW in 2011, "this deal just keeps getting worse all the time." :(
What was awesome is the announcer getting everyone hyped up for a great announcement "Games Day will be in Chicago again next year!!!" and was received with utter silence and disinterest. He fumbled a bit, and then got everyone to Waaagh. I was snickering, GD's were fun at the last few I went to in Balti, but this one was just underwhelming. The level of excitement wasn't there. There was no swag, last year Carnival of Chaos was giving away stuff in shopping bags at the end of the day. This year they gave stuff out sparingly and ran out in hours. There were no more Games Day FW Boarding Marines when it was my turn in line 2 hours after opening. You had to wait over an hour to get a stab at the Build Your Own Terrain table. Things were structured, but in a way that everyone didn't get to join in. I know after travelling from MA to Chicago to be met with lines, weak swag and no real announcements of upcoming stuff besides from FW, I doubt I'll ever go again unless it's in NY or Boston.
I still don't get why they don't give their customers any incentive. They didn't even give you a model, you had to pay an extra $15 for the GW one. Severe lack of swag. You figure they would give people a discount of some kind at the store. You have to wonder, because the FW line was 2 hours long and the GW store had NOTHING going on. I think if there was any discount or swag or whatever there would be lines in the GW store as well.
Meh. Pardon the rant but I spent a lot of time and money to go, and I feel pretty let down compared to past years.

Hell, if it hadn't been for Planetstrike--we wouldn't have the Ironclad.
GW's had many opportunities to update the Chaos Dreadnought, but haven't. GW has released the plastic Venerable, Ironclad, and standard in the intervening years. The Chaos Dreadnought, dates back to 1996, even Abaddon is newer than that, as he was released later that year. The SM dreadnought was 2001 and the other two just the last couple years.
I don't thin anyone's going to argue that GW could have done it differently, but its certainly the love of Space Marine revenue that motivated GW to make several piecemeal kits rather than a single loaded Dreadnought kit. Its certainly GW's marine love thats created many Space Marine dreadnought variants while not doing anything with the Chaos dreadnought.
The commentary is that GW has had all the opportunity to do something, it hasn't, and FW with its much more whimsical production schedule has been able to accomplish many times over what GW has. That is a big failure on GW's part.

Add into it that all the marine Dread variants have had a metal predecessor since the CSM Dread was released as well.
Very Frustrating, but I believe the Contemptor is going to relieve that for me. As soon as I gather enough funds for 3.

Forge World has a couple of nice Chaos Dreadnoughts, and then there are Warmachine Warjacks.
I use this one for Nurgle:
Edit:
This was posted by Spazz in another, now closed, thread:
So i dont know if this is news to all you dakka folks but i was talking to the guys at the forge world booth at games day. And i asked why so many of the terrain peices on the site were out of stock as of last week.
He said that most are being discontinued to make room for a new line of terrain. He said that the a new line will be themed to match scenarios in the imperial armour books and the new WFB books. And that there wil be small (2X2?) boards that will fit in to the GW realm of battle boards. I dont have a realm of battle board but im pretty excited to see what FW can come up with.
Confirms what has been said in this thread on that topic.

Here's my question...
During the Baltimore Games Day 2010, Forge World stated they had planned to re-release the first two Imperial Armour books in second editions. The year has passed and the first book is no longer in print and they are now saying it is the Apocalypse book getting a second edition. Are they still planning on releasing the updated versions of the first two books?

What they talked about was that they were redoing IA1+2 as entirely new volumes. The focus will still be on the Guard+Marines/Inquisition for their respective books--but they're having to compile rules, etc for their vehicles and make new pieces to fill in the holes left by things going into the Codices proper too.

I agree with everything this poster said sans one thing, I was not willing to wait in line for 4 hours when they opened at 10, so I got in line about 4 pm, waited 20 mins, and they had a boarding marine and chaos dwarf for me to buy. FW was the the silver lining to this snooze fest, their seminar was solid with LOTS of previews and pictures. That Vermin Lord still dances in my head. Anything you couldn't buy AT GAMES DAY, they are shipping for free so they really could not run out.
As far as GD and GW go... this was the weakest thing I have ever attended. Give a ways are one thing but I was done looking at everything by noon that also was playing Space Marine for 30 mins. It will be 60 mins from my home next year and I cannot think of a reason to go. Spend the money on some figs and game in my basement, I would have had more fun and not spent 7.00 on 2 bottles of water. All the make and takes were SUPER long lines, you had to show up more than 30 mins before to get a seat, yet they had alot of open space on the floor, not near the events. The club gaming tables weren't bad, with special note to Snake Eyes, can you say running river on the board? They were awesome, good terrain, fun scenario, good time all around... ...which in my head if some guys as a hobby can put on a better event than GW, really just shocking.

Thanks for the appreciation Uktabi. We try to come up with something new every year. We had started discussing the tables once GD Baltimore had ended and finished them up at the end of June and had time to play test them. We had playtested the rules 3x throughout the year at different Apocalypse events we ran and we felt everything ran well that day. We have a group of 4 guys that sunk quite a bit of time into getting the close to 20k points worth of models painted and making the 3 boards from scratch. We really took what was in the Forge World Model Masterclass, learned a few things and expanded on it from there. Note: they don't say how to do running water on the board - or lighting for that matter, but working with the foam is demonstrated well.
We are already working on our ideas for next Games Day. As of right now, we will be back again and look forward to meeting and playing with everyone once again. As we did last year, we will post progress on our blog as we work on the tables for the next GD.

A board with running water would be easy to do.
Get a piece of PVC cut it in half longways insert and waterproof caulk into the board
Get a small garden pump and a 5 gallon bucket half full of water with 2 holes cut in the top
The pumps output will go hidden at the highest point of the tube
Where the water runs off have a funnel and tube going back to the bucket so the same 2.5 gallons will keep being recirced
