Also a few astrates deaths were when a marine tripped and landed on a land mine.

Also one of my chapters one time dropped the life eater virus inside one of their ships it destroyed half the chapter....

Is your chapter by any chance called, The failmarines?

Damn you beat me. Arguably a tragedy of war but one also a reason only have 1,000 men is very good motivator to not put all your eggs in one basket. Space Castle or no, the Astartes have it coming. Hell a particularly bad bout of flu has probably cripple more than a few Chapters.

you forget the worst part of it, it was a missile from the planetary defense installation, there own effing missile! Really GW? that's the best you could come up with is on of their own missiles blowing up all but 16 of the members? worthless piece of writing there

See, I think its kind of creative. "Hey, lets have the CF get destroyed almost to the man by a super powerful epic a$$ force" "Nah, lets have something unexpected happen"

And it was during a massive WAAAGH!
Wouldnt/couldnt the Ork psych have something to do with it?

How is a critical malfunction in a giant nuke bad writing? Because it shows that the SM's stuff can fail too?

Apparently. Haven't read it myself.

IIRC we don't get told how he dies, only that he does. For reference it's around 25 Grey Knights versus an entire medieval army whose cavalry consists of men riding giant lizards called Tharr. They get out of the army by having their Terminators use the Holocaust.

That scene totally is where they got Cleansing Flame from BTW.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I don't have that.

And besides, that's old, and numerous sources have named it as lenses.

The eyepieces are certainly armored, but they are lenses for sure. They have a heads-up display of sorts on them, displaying the auto-senses information and all, but if the auto-senses fail, you still need to be able to see. Hence transparent armor lenses. RT might say one thing, but many sources since have said another.

well this wasn't a slowed death, more of a very horrible one. In the ultramarine omnibus some assault marines are captured by the night lords who precede to gouging out there eyes, cutting off their tongues, cutting their chests open and to top it all off they impale them on rhino's. oh and did i mention they were killed by other ultramarines?

Please don't use the word "slowed" prejoratively. Thanks! ~Manchu

I dunno about worst death, but C.S Goto wrote some howlers over the years. I remember one with the Mantis Warriors versus 'nids, I don't know about Astartes deaths but I was ready to self harm after the 1st two chapters, never even finished the book. I think the Marine/ Olius Pius/ custode/IF or BA that charged HORUS infront of the Emperor was pretty epic fail, what part of the Emperor saying "I got this one..." didn't he understand, plus if the Devil and God were having a fist fight I for one would not wade in shouting "Break it up". Lucky he did mind, or else the Emperor would have let his eldest run around forever without chastising him.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

However, didn't that guy finally show that Horus was evil and then the Emperor stopped holding back?

I think its in the dark angels codex, where a dark angel marine teleported into a huge rock... Awkward.

If one goes by Quake slipgate logic, then the rock should have exploded in a shower of dust and pebblegibs, leaving the teleportee unharmed. While it takes the grimdanger away from the teleportee and gives it to anything or anyone near the target, I prefer this interpretation.

Which has already been disproved in novels. Can't remember which book, but I remeber a guy teleporting in with a steel girder through his tummy. And it's often been stated that teleportation is very dangerous, especialy without proper coördinates.
