What I want to know is who gives a flying hoot whether it's real or not? It exists and is far and away better than 5th edition. Who cares whether GW published it or not?

But what if a significant subset of disgruntled 40K players decide to start using these rules, official or not? Perhaps this would be the start of a movement that would shake the metagame to the degree that the Horus Heresy shook the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. Imagine, people proudly identifying themselves as players of the heretic edition? (Oh, you're afraid to defy the mighty Games Workshop, are you? How quaint.) Probably never happen, because people are such sheep, but one can dream...
