Do they not play with terrain in San Antonio? That is a really sparse table
"Suffering is Faith, Faith is Strength.
Generations have suffered with the same devotion that we can offer but once. Still, our Faith leads us through these dark times like a beacon. It will guide us to triumph over these abominations. Either by breaking them upon us like waves against a limitless, golden peak or by thrusting through them like the spear of the Immortal Emperor Himself." - Cannoness Aoife, Order of the desert rose #Yesallwomen
Smitty, wwp lists can be competative if properly built.... Reece is currently working on this, as are several others. Overall a great game, you were right, he was severely lacking antitank

My Opponent then moves his reavers out of the portal, behind my wave serpent. I explain to him that my wave serpents are within 1" from all parts of the webwayportal, and he cant come in because he would be within 1" from me. Bens arguement is that the reavers can just fly over my skimmers, and that his witches can come in where his Hemuc was and move 6". The Whych arguement makes a little sense, but the reaver arguement doesnt. The Codex WWP entry is poorly written.
The WWP rules have some issues (mostly in their placement) but its pretty clear in this regard. They are psuedo board edges. So he can certainly fly over units with his reavers just like your skimmers can fly over enemies when you come in from reserve on your board edge.
As far as the wyches, if the haemonculus died from shooting then there's potential for an avenue they could move through but you could have moved such that its use was limited. Based on pics I think you left him the wiggle room he needed. However if the haemonuclus hadn't died, then it would be blocking this avenue. He has to move on his reserves before other moves, so could not have moved out of the way. Not really sure here if the haemy died or if it moved out of the way.

He moved the Hemuc First and then the whyches, saying that its all the movement phase and doesnt matter. I questioned this, but honestly I didnt really care because I didnt think it would make a difference.

In a timed format I can totally understand, better to just let it fly. But yeah reserve rules are clear, you have to resolve them before any other moves.
More you know and all that, considering WWP lists will likely get a bit of a bump from Reece and Hivemind.

Yeah, the Haemonc would have blocked the Wyches, and the Reavers would have moved right over the blocking units. The rules on those two are both nice and clear.
He wasn't taking FNP against any of your S6, was he? Just against the shuricats and such?
---------------------
Good first report! Yeah, this is a terrible matchup for him, especially on a table so open. It seemed like you maybe got a bit sloppy and let him get a lot of pain tokens that you didn't need to, but they mostly don't matter since so much of your shooting is S6+.

I get back from eating lunch with a bunch of guys from Dallas.
Im at max battle points, and Im about to play the capture and control mission.
I go to my table and meet my Opponent Andrew E. Playing Eldar!
Andrew's List
Eldrad
Yriel
10x Wraithguard, warlock with 5+ cover save
10x Wraithguard, warlock with 5+ cover save
5x DAVU, exarch with everything
5x DAVU, exarch with everything
7x Warp Spiders, Exarch, Withdraw, extra spinner, powerblades
Mission- Capture and Control
Secondary - More units outside of both deployment zones.
Deployment - Spearhead
Well I hate playing against other Eldar. Reason being that If I loose, the only thing that I can blame is myself. Generally Eldar players are a real hit and miss. There either REALLY bad, or REALLY good. I played eldar last year at Alamo, Tabled him. Played alamo at FoB qualifier and beat him as well. Footdar is something I dont get, and although I screw around with it sometimes, I just dont understand the whole Eldar Troops walking Concept. I think it has the ability to win games, but I think its a really hard list to play that shoots itself in the foot, the arm, and the knee cap.
His Falcons are going to be almost impossible to kill. If they are behind cover they are actually impossible to kill. If Eldrad fortunes them, then they are Literally IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL. His Wraithguard units are the same way. 3+ saves, Re Rollable, with 4+ cover and 5+ Invul. The only thing in my army that can deal with the Wraithguard are my Meltas/EML's/Linked Prisms. I should be able to smack his army pretty hard with my fire power. There is NO WAY my opponent is going to win this game, as his only anti tank are falcons (which suck at shooting and cant hit a barn let alone a moving tank). My Opponent can easily castle in the corner, Take his Cover saves, and then Late Game turbo boost with Double Fortune from Eldrad and pull off a draw pretty easily. If Hes good at all (he won his last game) then he should be able to pull off a draw pretty easily.
I win the Roll off and elect to go first
My Objective is by the Trees in the left.
My Opponents Objective is on my far right, behind a building. (He should have put it really far forward as close to mine as possible, but w/e)
Smitty Eldar Deployment
I deploy Farseer and Defenders by my objective. I deploy War walkers behind them, pretty far up to hopefully be in range with a scout move. I put everything else at the SpearHead deployment line. My Goal here is to move 12" and smack whatever I can, and if I cant do anything than I can surround his little pocket and shoot him all game.
Andrew Eldar Deployment
Andrew Being a sneaky sneaky Eldar decides to full reserve with Prince Yriel
Smitty Eldar Turn 1
Im going to give you readers a hint. There is something I can do, Using My Army, To make my opponent Auto Loose. Do not scroll Down until you figure out what im going to do.
I look at the board, and I look at where my Army Is Deployed. I think for a second.
My Guardians Get out with Farseer At the Tree Line.
My Entire Army Turbo Boosts Forward
Andrew Turn 1
Full Reserve
Smitty Eldar Turn 2
My Entire Army Turbo Boosts again. I start with my Farthest Foward skimmer, And Its Able to move within less than 2 inches towards the opposing lateral Edge.
I then move every Skimmer, 2 Inches away from the skimmer in Front.
I tell Andrew To Watch me, And I have him Confirm that every skimmer is in fact 2 inches apart.
I have Successfully Lined the Board edge, Giving Andrew an Auto Loss
Q: What happens when a unit arrives from reserves but
is unable to completely move onto the board? (p94)
A: The unit is destroyed and removed from play.
Turns 2-4
I have lined the board edge, meaning that his Foot Force cannot come in. He can come in on the far left, but because he can only move 6" his entire unit of 12 models wont be able to fit. He also cant fit between my vehicles as he would be within 1".
He Rolls His Reserve Rolls, And Both Wraithguard units with Independant Characters Die as they come in.
HIs WarpSpiders Do come in towards my back objective.
1 Falcon comes in towards his objective.
Both Dire Avengers Stays out.
As the Game Goes on, I Fire Dragon both Falcons and they are destroyed.
I kill the Dire Avengers with Tank/Guardian Fire.
I kill the Warp spiders with EML/Guardian Support, Followed by a War Walker Charge.
Andrew did have a fighting spirit, and on turn 4 he turbo boosted a wave serpent on the Board, while having 2 DAVU at his objective. During my turn 5 I was able to blow up the Falcon and kill the last Dire Avengers getting the Table and Max Points.
Game 2 Summary
Every game a 40k player plays, he has an ability to do something creative. Every army can do different things, and a general that can capitalize on those things is what makes a good general. Andrew had never thought of lining the board Edge. Reserving a Foot List against a 9 skimmer mech eldar is a terrible Idea. Andrew was a great opponent, and I gave him my best game vote because he had a great attitude and was nice to me the entire tournament, although I totally Dicked him. He ended up doing decent in the tournament, and I gurentee he will never make that mistake again with his FootDar.
Overall I felt like kind of a Doosh, but then again im incredibly laze, and when I have the ability to kill 75% of my opponents army without rolling any dice, Im going to take it (Especially in a Grand Tournament where im going for a top spot).

Wow, game 2...quite sad it happened that way.
I feel bad for your opponent that it went down that way for him. Not my favorite way to win a game, but he should have been cognizant of the possibility of fully reserving.
I hope game 3 is a bit more fun lol.

There was a thread a LOOONG time ago of someone doing this with kroot vs necrons in DURING deployment. Necrons reserve...kroot scout and line the board edge...gg go have a beer. Its a funny tactic, but I would probably gauge my opponents attitude before doing it. I'm sure the wrong person having this done to them would incite a truely epic display of nerdrage.
BTW like it that your posting a xenos army doing well. Imperials seems to have most of the toys this edition so any time bugs or tau or eldar do good its a win for the community.

The most famous example of it, with the picture circulating online, is from the European Team Championships a couple of years ago A White Scars player going full Reserve against Tau and having his board edge lined by infiltrating Kroot. The WS player was a good sport and posed for a pic with him and the judge holding a rulebook while the Tau player posed by the table, grinning for the camera.

Love to see comprehensive eldar coverage, I've been reticent to dust off my 3rd edition basement dwelling eldar and it's really exciting to see how they can be taken advantage of beyond obvious numerical superiorities.

I know that In DoW and in Pitched im able to line the Edge with enough skimmers. Honestly when I decided to turbo boost I wasnt 100% sure I would be able to make it to the back corner. I thought that I might be able to , but I wasnt 100% sure I could entirely line the board edge. Luckily I did decide to put my skimmers at the Spearhead deployment boundary and was able to get it off. As far as the strategy itself, If I hadnt done it and I had lost or drawed the game I would have regretted it pretty badly, so thats also part of the reason I did it. I respected my opponent, his list, and his ability to beat me, so I didnt want to hold anything back.
Game 5 - Yea Colby was a great opponent with a great list, and the game was intense.

Lolz, game 2 tourney 1. Lining the table. Ouchies, I pseudo did this to my last round opponent at a recent local tournament. But sadly my DE list did not have enough skimmers to pull it off so I had to make do with forcing him to arrive where I wanted him too. This led to a crushing victory my way. Im glad he took it well!
