yeah,
OK thanx for the input guys it was a close run thing, last night as I went to bed I was sure they were having sepia washes.
But the new morning and last few comments swung me back to bright green! I just spent 2 hours washing them all. drying now photos tomorrow.

On the painting table I have 1 overlord, 3 lords, 1 destroyer lord - 78 warriors and 25 scarab swarms all nice and green just basing to go. 1920pts!
I'll do that then get onto the vehicles...

ArbitorIan wrote:You started without me!
Oh well - looking good, and I'll steal any ideas for MY quick necrons afterwards
I DO rather like the bright bright green ones - you'll need a decent contrasting base colour though. Earth tones would work, but a different primary like reddish bases would make the green pop even more...
Sorry dude but I was staring at two weeks off work window of opportunity! Could not resist getting a entire new army ready to play!
Planning on a boring brown base scheme... I bought the new Citadel Texture: Stirland Mud paint to try that out, that's kinda exciting.

When are you back so we can get a game? the entire army adds up to almost 3000pts... so it'll be a big one!

Stirland Mud is good stuff, although it looks disgusting in the pot.

They look good, but they need something else, like metal joints. Totally green just looks...Odd.

Yeah,
Yup completely done.
I wasn't going to paint the eye bright green but I was convinced by fingers they needed more so i painted the eye brighter. Now they are done.

Sorry if I cam across as a little rude earlier, but I asked because, to me, they seem a little too bland? Don't get me wrong, I like the bright green colour scheme, but the fact that green is the only colour on the model makes me think they are unfinished.

I would be tempted to pick out some detail in perhaps a different colour, or even a darker shade of green, for example some of the weapon parts/head/chest carapace may look good in a dark green/black.

Just my opinion. I applaud what you have done so far, you certainly have a larger army project ahead of you!

Have you considered doing weathering on them, to give the models some difference from one another?

Also, I notice on the back right one (could be my eyes deceiving me) that there was a little of grey plastic/primer showing through (on the crotch area, below the weapon)

I would have to see your awesome heavy destroyer conversion after I had assembled some original metal ones!

Your stuff is great as always, nice continuation of the solid neon colour scheme too.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your Scythes.

At the very beginning of this project I thought that you were mad, so naturally I've been rooting for you, but I have to be honest and say how disappointed I am in your choice of final colours- nothing actually looks finished.

yeah,
Fair enough.
But I think these guys look great despite being only green.
The plan was to get a 1500pts army done in a weekend. I failed.

But 2 weeks for a new army is still fast! The plan was to get a new army on the table.
The colour scheme is basic but that's a strength, if I want to add new units I simply build spray and ink!
I can build new units the night before a game.

Next up are the spyders, destroyers, arcs and scythes...

Hmm, I personally think that the eyes get lost in all that green...
just a minor nit-pick..

also, maybe add some weathering?

unfortunately I have to agree. They look like they have all been undercoated in green in preparation for the actual paint scheme. I think if you at least painted the guns in another colour that would at least break them up but everything green makes them look like ultra rushed jobs that are basically one step up from spraying them with a primer and then using them to game...

Sorry Panic, I'm a big fan of your other stuff (eg. The Dark Eldar ladies) but have to say its disappointing to see so many nice models all being given a blast of green and then called "finished"...

Well your right in that it is a very quick army

But I think, its ok. If you want to improve your troops you can add detail onto them bit by bit, on weeks when you don't add any new units.

Think you've taken a bit of unfair criticism with these - the whole point of the army was to have them fully painted and on the table in as short a time as possible which you achieved. I think they look really good on the tabletop for the amount of time you spent and I would much rather play this than a grey plastic army. Also wouldn't take you long to go back over them and add some details [metal guns and cables etc.] should you be so inclined. Also meant I got to read the brilliant batrep

yeah,
I played a game with these Necrons Last week - IMPLACABLE ADVANCE - Necrons vs Tau - Panic vs ArbitorIan - 1500pts

I enjoyed using the GreenCrons and decided that I'll take them to a tournament I'm attending this Saturday...

My 1850 list:
Spoiler:
HQ1 : Necron Overlord (90pts) Resurrection Orb (30pts) Tesseract Labyrinth (20pts) (Warscythe (10pts) [150pts]
Royal Court - Necron Lord (35pts) Resurrection Orb (30pts) Warscythe (10pts) [75pts]
Royal Court - Necron Lord (35pts) Resurrection Orb (30pts) Warscythe (10pts) [75pts]
Troop 1 : 14x Necron Warrior (182) [182pts] Night Scythe (100) [100pts]
Troop 2 : 14x Necron Warrior (182) [182pts] Night Scythe (100) [100pts]
Troop 3 : 20x Necron Warrior (260) [260pts]
FA1: 5x Canoptek Scarab Base (75) [75pts]
FA2: 10x Canoptek Scarab Base (150) [150pts]
HS1: 3x Canoptek Spyders Base (150) [150pts]
HS2: Doom Scythe (175) [175pts]
HS3: Doom Scythe (175) [175pts]

The only problem is that i need 3 colours minimum.
I have 5 days to upgrade the paint a little...

Yesterday I built 2 more scythes.
Today i started updating the most offending paint jobs..
The plan is to keep it quick and keep it Green!
Dark green, Green & Bright green - that's three colours right!?
and black... 4 colours woo hoo!

I hit the models with a air brush of green ink... then hit the edges and weapons with bright green.
and then paint in the armour gaps black and retouched bit that were too bright with a dull Green...

Hopefully I'll get these and the spyders done tomorrow.
That will leave me two days to have a think about the 48 warriors...

They look nice, but I keep missing another colour, have you considered the bright red you used for The Lord?
Maybe you can mix a yellow with green and airbrush that to get a bit more volume.
I like how you airbrushed the edges.

Have you considered adding a French chef's hat to each if the warriors and replacing their guns with baguettes? This would add brown and white to the palette and boost you up to three colours...
