Unless of course Libre Chaotica is canon. It is about a fantasy guy and is insights into chaos. Most of it is fantasy but there are several points where he has "dreams" about such items like "The Eaters of Worlds". He even saw Magnus the Red and commented how it was ironic that Magnus is the name of an Empire hero. It does somewhat mix the two worlds as one of the chaos artifacts he comes across is a Chaos Sword with serrated teeth that he calls "The Chainsword"

Would be more fantasy-esque if it floats imo, at least you can imagine flying demons! I find it harder to imagine mechanical demons over flying demons, however doom3 did have a lot of mech demons so i guess its possible

Hmm yea I asked a few other people and some said the Plague one fits in a tad bit better

I wish the Soul Grinder was a dual plastic kit and that was the alternate body. Though probably no space!

It just seems like a lazy effort to add some big gribbly into fantasy daemons rather than making them some new kit like other armies have been getting.

Dark Eldar- 1500pts Completed
Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Khorne Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Death Korps of Krieg- Plans being formulated.
---------------------------------------------------
High Elves- Approx 2000pts
Vampire Counts- Raising the dead once more

Why would they need a new kit.

+1. I have played daemons in 40k and I had at one time 3 SG..Recently sold 2 of them and now GW gives me a reason to have them. The lame deployment method for daemons ruined them so I quit them. Now I can use it in fantasy. I know lotsa peps are having a problem with it but think like a warp storm sent some back in time or something, they are daemons after all, Make up your own fluff as to why. Remodel the back section to look like it is steam powered, there is an endless list of posibilities. Oh well. As for the rest of the stuff coming out, I like and can't wait til next week to get.

Huh never thought of that, someone mentioned to me if you're running a Norse themed army then converting a Stonehorn/Thundertusk to chaos may not be a bad idea

Another person expanded on the Spider idea and mention putting a bunch of daemons on top instead of goblins

Though both these ideas dont take into account that the Soul Grinder is on the Wide Edge of the base.....

Not to mention I bet having another plastic kit or conversion wouldnt fly for a big daemon monster. Costs of production and stuff. I mean rumors point at ALL 4 greater daemons getting a kit. That is a lot of big daemonic goodness if true

I was about to mention the mechanical horse. xD

Buttyeah, I personally think the relation is fine. The beast is mechanical, but there is more stuff in the Warhamer universe proving its possible. If there's a robot horse, then there can be a robot...daemon...thing.

WHFB does not take place in the same universe as 40K.

Not anymore anyway.

GW decided the connection was tenuous and wasn't benificial for either game, so they retconned it.

I kind of noticed, the Necrofex Colossus from Monstrous Arcanum seems to have some kind of odd leg joints that remind me a bit of the Soul Grinder

Though it seems to be made of wood

I think the gobo spider idea could work, maybe kit bash it with the SG kit and loads of green stuff.

My mate made a Tervigon, here is an example of what can be done with said kit:

I like it better than the official gw release...

Juggernauts are not mechanical. They are creatures of solid brass, animated by chaos.

Anyway, I don't like the SG going into Fantasy. It's too futuristic. And I don't mean it's too complicated, I'm sure it could be built. But it's too futuristic. I don't think anyone in fantasy would design it like that. Especially with legs. I think they would go with wheels or something if they must use tech. And if they would choose legs, I have a hunch they wouldn't look like that...

Unless they have indeed warped it from 40k, in which case I will rejoice for GW admitting Fantasy and 40k being the same universe, bring out my Necrons and force our Lizardmen player to face me!

Its odd, but not really unbelievable when you consider some of the other tech in Fantasy.

The conversion they did in this month White Dwarf made it look pretty good, also the big base makes it look very static, but at least it makes ranking up in combat a lot easier.

Rules wise, its pretty evil, but then all of the new releases this month seem to be pretty good in that regard.

With all my disapproval, I'm happy with what they got. I just wish it was a different model. Too tech. Empire tech is still based on di vinci designs (horse and tank!) who was alive in the early 1500s. This looks like something no one on that era could have ever imagined.

That being said. I wanna see someone make some Azmodan soulgrinders!

Well it is a daemon.

If it was some Dwarven/Empire contraption you might have a point, but as it is Daemons specilize is the horror of the unknown. It seems like something completely alien fits right in to the setting.

Hell yeah, Soul Grinders in Fantasy, will chaos champions get plasma guns and other goodies through the warp too?

I have a question. Taking this to 11. The full Monty. How would you feel about Necrons painted as Daemons?

Like these guys as Bloodletters (plainted bloody)

These guys as Tzeentch Seekers. Painted seek-y

Skulltaker?

The biggest problem I see is they are round bases and their weapons and poses weren't designed to be all lined up in trays. But I think it could look really scary with a Soul Grinder.

I had kind of started thinking along those lines when I realized how much better a model the generic IG tanks are compared to the Steam Tank. Paint them iron and put a few old time exhausts on them. But the wagon wheels got to go...

It depends on how it's done. If its a tourney and done amazingly, and I have to play you, I'd grin and bear it. If it was a friendly game or done terribly in a tourney, I wouldn't play you. I'd probably take the loss.

And I disagree on your assessment of how much better a model IG tanks are compared to the steam tank.

Edit upon more thinking. Idk if I could grin and bear it. The urge to slap you would be quite high. Lol.
