Hoho! Haven´t been here for a while, too. But it looks fantastic man! Got some inspiration for my own table. Interesting colors, too colorful for myself but I like it...

looks awesome.

I have to get a camera to my terrain as well. One of the best things about infinity is the terrain. The game has such a great deal of depth to it.

The radar station finally got painted today. Almost done. Still looking for a proper stand for the radar.

Looking very nice!

Great combination with the different MAS kits, have you thought about what you will do with the remainder of the radar station yet?

Tx!

I find MAS hard foam buildings don't mix well with the District-5 aesthetics.
I'll be using the rest of the radar station for my Dark Age post-apoc games.

A Sunday at Marc C's

I had the pleasure of having Greg & Amanda travel to the Far East of the island of the Montreal to try out my WIP table :

GAME #1 : The Japanese mutineers had the «insolence» of attacking the Imperial Service base. The rebel movement has gained a new champion in the name of O-Yoroi Kidobutai (TAG et lieutenant). Having faced TAGs before the IS preferred to decimate his support base instead of attack him directly. On the right flank a Celestial Guard with Spitfire was able to move and kill 3 Keisotsu Butai.

Wu Ming HMG moved laid out suppressive fire to bottle neck the TAG. The Japanese assault was stalled. O-Yoroi hesitated too long and never did come out of his deployment zone...

At the end of the conflict Hsien sent his Tactbot HMG on the left flank to attack head on the TAG. Having cover and mimetism the odds were reasonable. The gamble paid off. The TAG took 3 wounds and was disabled.

5-3 Win for the Imperial service. The Japanese star of the day was Oniwaban. Who crawled on a sky ramp, jumped down to a balcon, opened a door, charged a unsuspecting CG Hacker, survived the combi rifle shot and then cut the head off the poor women...

GAME #2 : (Against Amanda) Scavengers arrived at the IS base only minutes after the defeat of the Japanese. Nomads wanted to scavenge the pieces of both sides.

Unfortunately for them Hsien was still in battle mode when they arrived. The IS troops regrouped rapidly and prepared for the worst.

The IS stars of the game were the Kunag Shi link team who crossed the board on the left flank opening the force fields around the power generator of the station. On the other side a Reverend Moiras was waiting for them. Two chain rifle template auto-hits did the job. The Nomads had lost the lieutenant and retreated.

The Nomads lost honourably 3 to 5. Its wasn’t until turn 3 that the battle was decided. Before that Amanda had the advantage 3-2.

What a fantastic looking board, definitely one of the best Yu-Jing themed ones I have seen!

Make sure you write a detailed battle-report sometime along with some nice close-up photos of the action

I will certainly try to but my memory is not so good when it comes to retell the play by play actions.

I've heard a good way is to take very quick snaps and notes throughout the game for the notable actions, then go back later and set up in roughly the same positions with some proper lighting and a good macro-capable lense.

Think your terrain definitely deserves to be shown off as much as possible!

Prep work for the power core of the base:

I don't know if anyone has thought of this: 10 MAS Interior Walls kits glued into 6x6 rooms and then based on a 8x8 masonite sidewalks will result in a lot of table coverage for only 100$. Add to that paper containers, crates and model cars and you have a really cheap modular table.

That's a really striking piece, nice job, it looks great with the rest too. Are those lip balm tubes or something? They look familiar but I'm not sure why.

Tx again, I wanted the power core to stand out from the other buildings. I think the color shame gives it an air of «quiet power». Something you don't want to mess with...

Those are the caps of an injector pen to control a chronic disease my wife suffers from.
She gave them to me before I asked. She knows her man...

But I guess you can achieve a similar effect with lips balms.

Clever use of what's available! The dark colours are indeed very ominous, I'd be wary of wandering around inside. The vehicles are a nice addition to the table by the way, what scale are they?

Made in China scale ! ... I would say 1:30. I bought those 5$ CDN each in a small local toy store (not Toys R Us).

Nice find, they certainly look like a match. What are you building next?

An helipad.
I designed several variations in the last months but none where satisfactory.
Finally managed to find the right set up today:

Nothing is glued and the painting is only half done... AND it needs railing cover otherwise no one will venture there !

Very nice, you should try and get a helicopter or something more sci-fi to put up there. It could even replace the barrier terrain if that's bothering you.

Yes I NEEEED a sci-fi something up there.

This is what I will do for cover on the railing.

So this morning will moving my buildings around I realized I only need 9 buildings not 10. The landing pad is so large it covers a lot of ground. This means I'm only 3 building away from finishing the table instead of 4 ! And it leaves my with 2 extra buildings - to be made at a later date - for variation.

Here is one of the possible set ups with description :

THE BASE
(from left to right - starting from the top)

First row
Communication tower (2nd floor) and guard barracks (1st floor)
Radar center (2nd floor) and engineering (1st floor)
Container depot (with monofilament fence)

Second row
Hospital with gardens (WIP)
Landing pad and cargo storage area underneath (WIP)
Guard barracks (2nd floor) and munitions depot (first floor) (WIP)

Third Row
Power Core
HQ (1st floor) and officiers quartera (2nd floor) (WIP)
Mess hall (1st floor) and barracks.

Tx !
Can't wait to play a game on it. Maybe next sunday.

I hesitated for the longest time about assembling the MAS buildings I had bought. Something was missing but I wasn't sure exactly what it was. Its not that the kits are bad on the contrary they are beautiful BUT they are not cinematic. And Infinity is a cinematic game. You want to crawl, run up stairs, jump down on balconies, etc. When I finally understood that, it gave me a solid «design intention». Its what counts the most when you do a project like this. So the end result is that I transformed each kit I had to make them as cinematic as possible.

This is only the first step of the process.
When I'm done with all the basic colouring I will revisit each building with an airbrush (hoping to get it a christmas) and add oriental (Yu Jing) touches.

That's a really, really good point! I never thought of it before but you could come up with some awesome terrain if you put yourself in their shoes and think cinematic. If you have any more insight on that you should post it in the Terrain thread, I think folk would be interested to hear your views on the subject.
