If you don't want to spice it up by playing a fluff based and accurate list (ie. Tanith first as forward sentries foot vets with flamers, snipers, and tread fethers, no armour), how about a dregs army?

HQ - Primaris Psyker
Elite - Ogryn and Ratlings
Troops - Penal troops
Fast - Rough Riders (biker gang, no lances)
Heavy - "basic" russes no upgrades, no more than 3. Or skip this for god mode.

Sure. I'm eager to see what you come up with.

First draft attempt. That's roughly 80 or so carapace armored infantry, and harker's "My cover save is better than yours" squad. Terrible list, but at least it'll play quickly I look forward to trying this one. With my luck, I'll end up playing against DE or Flamer spam daemons (happened to me the first and only time I tried duravets)

Interesting. I took the opposite route. I gave my vets the forward sentries upgrade and then stuck five or so LRBT on the board.. I also threw in two plasma CCSquads in chimeras.
The vets basically hid behind the tanks until they needed to shoot stuff, and by the end of the game two tanks and harker's squad were left on the board. Luckily, harker's squad was out of reach of my opponent and my opponent was fresh out of melta, so during the last few turns I got to watch my demolisher, well, demolish the last of my opponent's forces.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to you getting destroyed seeing how this list plays!

This is hilarious if you have movement trays to deal with the moving them up the field, otherwise don't even try it. The movement phase will last a couple hours.

Otherwise I second trying the forgeworld lists, if you don't mind forgeworld. They really are totally different armies (play style wise) just with mostly the same gear. Armored company and DKoK used to be really fun (not sure what IA1e2 did to them).

I have been looking to find some more "fun" with my guard and am painting up some ogryn to run the following list:

HQ
Company Command Squad - Creed, Regimental Standard, Master of Ordnance
Primaris Psyker - Force Axe
Priest - Eviscerator, Shotgun

ELITES
Stormtroopers x 5 - 2 x Meltagun
Ogryn x 3 - Chimera - Hull Heavy Flamer
Marbo

TROOPS
Infantry Platoon
Platoon Command
Infantry Squad #1 - Autocannon, Power Axe
Infantry Squad #2 - Autocannon, Power Axe
Heavy Weapon Squad - 3 x Lascannons
Heavy Weapon Squad - 3 x Lascannons
Veteran Squad - Harker, 3 x Flamer, Chimera - Hull Heavy Flamer
Penal Legion Squad

FAST ATTACK
Scout Sentinels x 2
Scout Sentinels x 2

HEAVY SUPPORT
Leman Russ - Hull Heavy Bolter
Griffon - Hull Heavy Flamer
Griffon - Hull Heavy Flamer

FORTIFICATIONS
Aegis Defence Line – Icarus Lascannon
1850pts

Creed hunkers down with some guns and waits for the reserves.

Primaris outflanks with the ogryn (hopefully with psychic shriek & endurance). Priest outflanks with the penal legion. Harker & the Sentinels outflank to give support. The stormies and marbo deep strike.

I think I will enjoy this list, even if I don't win a lot :-)

I did something akin to this at a tournament. You could elect for any non vehicle unit to deepstrike in one mission. Naturally, I decided to deepstrike powerblobs. The other IG player was running a mass stormtrooper army (we also had unlimited elite slots) and it was just hilarious. Every blob landed on target, in the middle of his army. Straken killed a manticore with a plasma pistol (he deepstruck as well)

I got utterly destroyed that game, but my god that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. "You're deepstriking WHAT!?!??!"

5+ Invulns?

Yeah because if invulns count we couldn't take any of our HQ choices, as they all have +5 invulns

Also, if anybody else wants to do this, we could all try to get in games this next weekend, and post up batreps of the results. Funniest game/victory wins bragging rights!

Use any combination of restrictions you want. Bonus points for the harder the matchup is (for example, you brought 30 ratlings against a necron bakery list)

Could be fun. I'm in (obviously) so if anybody else wants to join in let me know.

Alright...

- You can still use fliers, but they have to be valkyries. You may not give them any upgrades.

- You must take at least one infantry platoon. All units in the platoon must start the game deployed in a flier. You may not take vets, and any infantry unit that can take a chimera must take one.

- Take a techpriest with at least one servitor. Embark them in a vendetta. Laugh maniacally ever time your vendetta fixes itself mid-air.

- Deploy a full-sized unit of ratlings in your opponent's deployment zone with a flier. The ratlings must kill at least a single model after disembarking for it to count.

- Take Yarrick and fly him on alone (as if the vendetta or valkyrie were his own dedicated transport). Yarrick must beat up a unit in close combat after disembarking to count.

- Place a single flier into ongoing reserves 4 times in a single game.

Honestly, I'd like to see a little more creativity here. Simply naming a random unit and saying "use it" isn't very helpful, you need to think of something cool and say WHY it would be fun. For example: ratlings. WHY ratlings? At least come up with some kind of funny space hobbit theme, don't just say "ratlings and deathstrikes".

 Ailaros wrote:

Not possible, since you can't leave the table as soon as you arrive (the wording on leaving the table suggests that it's only in the movement phase, not when moving flat out). So:

Turn 1: nothing.
Turn 2: arrive.
Turn 3: depart #1.
Turn 4: arrive.
Turn 5: depart #2.
Turn 6: arrive.
Turn 7: depart #3.

So even if you don't fail a reserve roll and the game goes the full seven turns it's still not possible.

Look at the part about arriving from reserves: you can't allow your move onto the table to carry you off again. And the rules for leaving the table refer to a zoom move, which arguably does not include a flat out move.

And in any case, even if you allow leaving the table with a flat out move, that's a boring suggestion, not a fun one. All it means is that you arrive and then immediately leave, and keep your flyer sitting in reserve instead of flying around the table doing fun things.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

So:

Yarrick

PCS
-Powerfist
-4xFlamer
-Valkyrie
-150

IS
-Powersword
-Meltagun
-Valkyrie
-160

IS
-Powersword
-Meltagun
-Valkyrie
-160

10xRatlings
-Valkyrie
-200

Penal Legion
-80

Marbo
-65

So 1250.

Being the TFG that I am; my skin is crawling.

But it should be interesting.

Anyone have another? I'll take one more interesting one.

I want to see the maximum punisher cannon list. You love punisher Vultures, so do it! As many punisher cannons as you can fit into a single game.

(Bonus points for taking double FOC and 6x Vultures. Double bonus points for taking armored battlegroup allies with Vulture squadrons. In a double FOC game that's 12 of the most awesome flyer in the game.)

Sadly the squadron is a 0-1 choice, but you can take a squadron of 1-3 Vultures or 1-3 Vendettas. But in your case this just means you play IG as your main army and add the ABG as allies with only 0-1 fast attack choice anyway.
