That'll be all that fighting round the world he does.

I think Russell Crowe has had a few well publicised bad days... but I'm not sure he's the prima donna the media makes him out to be.
I agree with Ouze. Crowe also seems to be a pro who doesn't mail it in. I respect him for that.
Also, Kevin Costner's range as an actor is pretty limited. But this role looks to fit him like a glove. Great casting.
Amy Adams is definitely not the Lois I expected. I kinda always pictured Lois as Miss Universe with an IQ of 160. Seems like you'd need to be that to be the love interest for the last son of Krypton. But maybe the girl-next-door looks, etc. will make Lois more accessible and represent Clark's desire to fit in and live a normal life. I won't criticize the casting until I see where they go with the character. She is a very good actress, and blows Katie Holmes out of the water in that department.
I think Amy Adams is an excellent choice, but then I think she's something of a fox anyway. Kate Bosworth was awful, no charisma and no sex appeal.
I actually think the casting to be spot on in this film and even though it's easy to joke about Costner I think he will be a good Jonathon Kent. In fact the only bit of casting I consider suspect is Michael Shannon as Zod, but I’m prepared to give him a chance.

yeah, I know what you mean.
Wasn't that big of a fan of the show, but looks wise at least Mamzel Hatcher looked a great Lois Lane to me.
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Yeah, it was a fairly silly soap opera that got steadily worse, but Hatcher looked amazing on that show. We'll see about Adams. Like I said, I think she at least avoids the Katie Holmes-Batman Begins situation where she looks outclassed by every actor around her. And she runs circles around Kate Bosworth. Kinda weird that Lois is the redhead and Lana is apparently the brunette. But I also recognize that isn't important at all, and when Bosworth dyed her hair for the role, it ended up just being distracting.
How cool is that POV sequence at the end with Supes punching Zod/Non/whomever over and over? Can't wait to see him finally *unload* on some bad guys. Hala Kal-El indeed.
Lois won a Pulitzer and had kind of given up on guys by the time she meets Superman, She can't be a 25-year-old. She needs to be formidable and Donner got this when he cast 30-something Kidder opposite 24-year-old Reeve. It's why ['Superman Returns' actress] Kate Bosworth didn't work.
- Mark Millar
Apparently there is an interview with Michael Shannon (Zod) in which he says that Zod doesn't see Kal-El as his enemy, but as unpatriotic and in need of correction.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
I'll be interested to see if the actor playing Zod can play something other than a robot (he plays a malfunctioning time-displaced Terminator in Boardwalk Empire).

It's Zimmer following in the footsteps of Williams. Not sure how that's gonna turn out. Even Zimmer was nervous about such a task, as I saw in an interview with him last week.

Crowe is an enormous toolbox to everyone around him, even when making films. He’s generally a complete jerk and he has a very high opinion of himself, and wants everyone to know how good he is. And he’s a great actor, so it’s not as if you can turn around and say that all his arrogance is for nothing, as the man can act.
He can’t sing thankfully, so it’s easy to make fun of him and his band.
I look forward to seeing him as Jor-El (it is Jor-El, right?) as well. Seems like a perfectly fine choice to me.

A song from a band I say last fall (song starts @ 3:04):
"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
My wife thought Amy Adams was a poor choice, but couldn't really articulate why. I reserve judgement since I thought Ms. Adams was fine in everything I've seen, and isn't especially hard on the eyes.

Is that S is the Krytonian symbol for Hope a new thing? I don't think I've heard that before. Also, I have to google Amy Adams now, because I don't know who that is...
been rumours that Lex is in the movie. Makes sense to bed him in for sequels....
.. or maybe even a JLA movie or somesuch ?!
One would suggest that assuming he's still the worlds' smartest man it'd make sense for him to get involved with alien technology in some way or other.

Lex himself may or may not be in it, but references to LexCorp are bound to be in there. He's too tied into the mythos to pretend he doesn’t exist.

Neither have I but it makes perfect sense. Obviously the Kryptonians don't use English so the S must mean something else in for them.

Also not a big superman fan, but looking forward to this.
I also always liked russel crowe.. he's a damn good actor, could care less what he does in real life. Same deal with Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson and others, might be a looney but if the movie is awesome, who cares?
I think i've watched the trailer 12 times over the past week or so. Its the best trailer i've ever seen. That bit with the drums when he's fist bumping that energy beam is really good. territory.
I recently watched 'Immortals' which stars Henry Cavil and he is a really charming leading man, he's not just a pretty boy. It actually made me far more excited for this film as i assumed it was just another Brandon Routh; cast purely for the look.
Funny Youtube Comment: 'The awkward moment when you realise both your dads are Robin Hood'. I lol'd

Aaaah I just can't freaking wait. Seriously this is shaping up to be an amazing June. Bolshoi on the 4th, Birthday on the 7th, Superman on the 27th, and only 3 pieces of assessment.
I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
Well, now it's becoming clearer that they weren't lying about the movie being more action-packed than the earlier trailers made it seem. Cripes, this thing is looking epic.
I saw an interview with Russell Crowe in which he said that Thomas Tull, who is a Hollywood producer/money guy (and a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, which had something to do with Pittsburgh and the Steelers being in The Dark Knight Rises) has been raving about the movie, and that he's a guy who usually doesn't do a lot of that.
My goal for the next few weeks is to force my expectations lower. I'm just going to tell myself that it has a *chance* to be really good, and we'll see how it goes.
