Ok, maybe he doesn't say it in this trailer, but we do finally get to see angry Zod, as well as Jor-El, Krypton, action sequences, and what looks like a mechanical tentacle, which makes me think Braniac hanging around.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I liked it enough to watch it twice, looks like warner brothers may just be able to swing their justice league movie after all.

I think I might like this.

But it brings up a question, how does he shave that beard?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

This trailer was creepy and pretty damn awesome to see on TV, too. Saw it during Defiance.

You don't even have to finish typing in "how does superman shave" before it is the first suggestion.

Reasonably excited about this, and I'm not a Superman fan.

I find the concept of Superman fairly boring ("Hurr hurr I'm completely invincible!"), though with good writing he can be pretty cool, like when he has to fight entities on his level or the kind of thing David Carradine talks about in Kill Bill. This looks decent. I do have to say, though, the previous Superman movie was fairly forgettable to me, except for Kevin Spacey's badass Lex Luthor.

I agree, but the part of Superman that does intrigue me are the various moral questions underlying his character; The responsibility of those with power to serve themselves or others (Superman and Luthor foil this), how to use that power, how those with that power interact with larger society and law, and whether having that much power in the first place is even proper.

A lot of Superman stuff is at times "Superman hurr hurr i'm completely invincible" but I think the character is at his best when toying with those themes and this movie really seems to be catering to that to me so I am uncharacteristically interested.

EDIT: And really Luthor is also invincible in his own way. He has so much money he can buy his way out of nearly anything.

The Lex/Supes dichotomy is also about a "self made man" vs someone who has their ability due to an accident of birth. What makes Lex so compelling when done well is that him fighting superman is like a paraplegic person fighting Mike Tyson.

Like a lot of people have said in this thread, Superman doesn't interest me at all - never has - and I find him to be one of the more boring super heroes out there.

But this film looks amazing.

Gotta concur with everyone in this thread, this movie looks good. Nope never mind. Just saw Russle Crowe. Interest lost.

My dad recalls reading a Superman comic many moons ago where he saved using a mirror (or possibly highly polished steel, he doesn't remember now) and his heat vision.

There are some stories where Superman is actually pretty interesting in. Kingdom Come was fantastic for it, for example.

The concept for Lex Luthor, however, is fantastic.

It was actually more of a joke then anything else. I tend to forget that humour is hard to convey over the internet.

To be honest i have nothing against the man himself. Not a huge fan of his acting but he's not the worst thing Australia has ever spat into the world.

To be honest, they had me when Amy Adams was cast as Lois Lane, but this definitely joins Star Trek as one of my must sees.

My only misgiving is that the trailers for Watchmen and Sucker Punch were also amazing, but Watchmen turned out be meh and Sucker Punch was a pile of doo doo

I saaw Lawrence Fishburns name in the closing credits, but I didn't see him in the trailer.

I normally am not a Superman Fan (All-Star Superman really sealed this impression for me), but parts of this looked really compelling.

I hope the movie is as good as these trailers.

P.S. I also do not like Zach Snyder as a director.

In respect of stuff like "Kneel before Zod", not being in the movie, I'm glad this is trying to be its own thing.

All the remakes of the late 1990s and 2000s were stuffed full of stupid in jokes, cameos and references to their previous incarnations. It was getting rather tiresome. The main failing of Superman Returns was that it was basically a remake of the original Superman starring Christopher Reeve... with in jokes.

While no Superman film is going to be entirely original, I hope it's as original as it can be.

Seems to be tons of good themes going on. I think the apparent focus on the (dual) parental angle is particularly interesting, and that this might be the first realistic take on what it'd be like to be the Kents. Imagine *living in fear* that men were going to come and take your child away and do experiments on him and god knows what else. You'd teach him -- relentlessly -- to hide his true nature at all times...to blend in, not draw attention to himself, etc. And you can see how that'd lead to Clark having some big decisions to make down the road.

Oh, and a small point I've been wanting to make since the first teaser trailer. They finally got his flying right IMO. In all previous movie and TV incarnations, it seemed to have that smooth, gliding, on-wires look no matter how fast he was supposed to be going. These trailers make it look fast and violent as it should be.

Also, this one gave us a glimpse of more action, but teased that there's a lot more "Super" stuff to come, which is awesome. And this trailer makes it look like those scoopers were correct that it's not as dour as the teaser trailers made it look.

I'm really looking forward to this one.

I think Russell Crowe is one of those rare actors who can really impart a character with a strong sense of integrity and honor on-screen, while apparently being an enormous toolbox off-screen. I look forward to his performance in this movie.
