I put fake wishes on my list. My tin foil hat ensures what I really want stays secret. No way GW gets a cheap overview from me.

If I get around to entering it and I win, I'll get paint. I can't think of anything GW that is appealing to me anymore.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

There are a few things that I'd like, just not for the price GW asks for them. Ten Witch Elves for $0 is a lot more appealing than the same for $70.

Maybe GW could be using these for actual research!

Seeing thousands of people wish for an overpriced unit but none of them walking off the shelves could be quite informative.

They want more email addresses of FLGS customers.
Remember, in April GW will open a bigger webstore. And they don't intend to attract new players.

Kinda crappy compared to the recent BoW draw for 4000 points of KoW minis.

£50 gets you what now? 10 minis and a couple of paints from GW? Something like that.

Well credit for them actually offering *something* - it makes a nice change from the usual nothing at all.

I still remember when GW used to run their annual survey competition - first prize was a copy of every single miniature and game they produced, if I recall. I remember seeing pictures of the lucky winner in WD, buried amongst a heap of goodies.

Proof of how good and strong GW are is that even those who hate them can't actually get away from the GW lust. Only it turns into a dark lust that they can't even admit to themselves; thus all the hate and derision whilst they try to deal with their own trouble lust for plastic and finecast

And yet it's still a better prize than 4,000 points of KoW miniatures, unless you like Undead.

It's not really a free offer. You need to buy a computer and know how to write to use it, so it's in a long tradition of evil GW scams designed to pad Kirby's wallet.

You also need internet, which you pay by the month. So the contest certainly isn't free!

Well, this thread has really been spun out of nothing.

I'm always happy to criticise GW for all the gak they pull which seems counterintuitive to how a company with a healthy dialogue with and respect for it's customers should be run, but this isn't it.

If you're going to criticise GW for fishing for info in exchange for a nominal prize, you'll need to add Amazon, Tesco, The Discovery Channel, pretty much every mobile phone and utility company, insurance company, Toys R Us...in fact basically every nationally recognised consumer brand in the UK to the same list.

If you're going to waste energy criticising GW for this, you'll get tired very quickly!

Yep, someone finally noticed there's more to marketing than issuing cheesy TV ads. As an advertising/data gathering device, this is quite a smart move on GW's side.

It's a far cry from the old giveaways.
I remember in the nineties there were pics of bespectaled little chaps literally drowning in toys.
£50 of product that they produce seems a bit mean in comparison.

Oh we get it. We just think that's dumb. You pay nothing. You can make a fake wishlist. If you are chosen, you get a gift certificate.

Heck, even with a real wishlist, it is still free because telling them what you want costs nothing but 5 minutes to setup an account and create a wishlist.

I put 75 Emperor's Champions on my wish list.

That will show them!
