Yup. Inane political correctness + the age of taking offence = HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Feth that!

Merry fething Christmas, every fething last fething one of us. Let's all have a fething good time, and then for those of us in the future, go and see Hobbit (a movie everyone in the past already has) on Boxing Day.

I shall be avoiding any confusion by simply using the term "feth you" when addressing strangers during the festive period.

As an American Jew who used to live in Oakland, I appreciate the sentiment.

But I thought the reason you say "Happy Holidays" is because you want the other person to have a merry Christmas and also a happy New Year. So many people apparently don't want a happy New Year these days.

Just all the more reason to say "Merry Christmas" in my opinion. "Offend", gak.

I prefer mine, but that's good as well. The most bizarre thing about political correctness is that 99% of people hate every aspect of it, and spend all day complaining about it, but everything is still PC? Sit in a public place and complain about the inanity of political correctness and you will be greeted with grins and nods by all and sundry, but we all still practice it?!

Its like minority rule!

I know, right? All those people who celebrate Hanukah have such a cabal going. Someone should do something.

Well, I figure since Hannukah was from Nov 27 to Dec 5th, and my post was on Dec 25th, my OP really was about wishing people a Happy Christmas - regardless of how Christian or not anyone is. I take the day to have different meanings for people these days, and while the origin may be in the Winter Solstice of the Northern Hemisphere with Jesus' birthday bolted onto it later, today it can mean a day of spending time with loved ones and having a nice time regardless of faith (or not) just as much as it can be a day of worship for others.

That I can get behind. It's a great day to relax and enjoy family. Too bad I can do neither.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it. Happy Holidays to everyone, inclusive.

For the record, as someone who has worked retail for 6 Christmases, I pretter MattyRM's "feth You" greeting. It comes straight from the heart.

My family all decided to avoid the gaming stuff and just went for books and clothes. And an iPad, but what the hell am I going to do with an iPad?
