As far as many people were concerned, the Voidraven should have been a dual kit with the Razorwing as the Hemlock and Crimsom Hunter was, the Dakkajet, Burna-Bomba and Blitza-Bomba and the Doom and Night Scythes.
Frankly, they could have made Vect on the Dais as a LoW similar to Logan Grimnar's remake. Make the Dais a chariot with a transport capacity.

Yeah they cut a bunch of great characters and gave us the most irrelevant model in the dex. I already have enough Jet models that I've been using as Voidravens just fine thx, see no need for purchases here

Thing is, Vect and Malys are quite prominent on the new book's fluff.
I don't know, I'm getting odd vibes from some of the latest codices. Civil war in Commorragh, Orks gearing up for the Great Waaagh... I wouldn't be surprised if GW were testing the waters for something like the WHFB Endtimes campaign, which would mark the return of Vect and others in grandiose, Nagash-like fashion.

I (too) expect a Lord of War later on, especially Vect is a perfect model for this.
And I don't see real patterns IN the codexes since 7th but there is the pattern that we need to buy a lot of books to get all the rules for an army and adding a LoW later on would in any case fit this pattern...

Almost like they're pushing out a baseline, so they can release new rules-in-kit models at will moving forward, instead of waiting years for that Dex to come up for an update?
That theory has just enough backing to make me hopeful, and would be a decidedly positive change for the hobby...

no, it would suck because it gives people who spent money on codexes feel like theyre less worth it when new units start popping up

I'm glad that the Voidraven is bigger than the Razorwing, but I'd like if it didn't just look like two Razorwings stuck together with a bulb on the front. It's okay, but it really could have been much better. I'd prefer more kits over dual kits if possible. I like my planes, and pairs of them actually being one plane with minor differences isn't very interesting (in the case of the Crimson Hunter, a silly fin on the back). I especially like it when they come in different size classes.

I don't think it is a sign of anything, as I will simply not grant GW that much understanding of their own game and that much competence.
In my eyes it is simply one of those things that comes out of an understaffed and un-directed design studio.

Correct. Orks had Ghaz, Space Wolves had Logan Grimnar and his chariot and Grey Knights had Draigo all switch to LoW slot.

Indeed. It's a 5 hull point transport - i.e. like a spartan or gorkanaut, as big as non superheavies get.
It wouldn't surprise me to see it 'promoted' by forge world to be a dark eldar Lord of War, though.

Like everyone else, I was surprised that DE didn't get an LoW. Considering what has been done with the most recent codecies, moving Vect to that slot was presumably assured. So far all of the codecies that have received stats for an LoW in the dex already had a plastic kit made by GW and from my understanding (with the exception being Grimnar). Since Vect got mysteriously dropped, I didn't expect any kind of super-heavy. I would count on FW making one before GW does. Remember as of now, not even SM's have super-heavies; the only super-heavies GW makes are the Stompa. Tesseract Vault kit, the Baneblade kit, and the Aquila Strongpoint.
Because it was a digi-dex only it slipped under the radar, but the SoB's didn't have an HQ moved to an LoW. Surprisingly St. Celestine stayed where she is. That being said, this is the second time a dex has come out this edition without an LoW.

Not like there was any units, they could have easily saved us cutting Vect by making him a LoW, or at least done SOMETHING for the customer with this release rather than nerfing the entire competitive core of the last dex so that everybody has to rebuy models

I was right. Thank you. A friend is a super-avid SoB player. He and I got into a minor argument on whether SoB were 6th or 7th. He claimed that because of the addition of formations (and possibly a couple of other things) they were now a 7th ed dex. The copyright has also been changed to 2014. We'll see what happens.

Hit the nail on the head. Now the competitives have to rebuy models to stay competitive.

I'm just going to use the 5th ed dex. If there was just SOME reason to upgrade to the new dex, I would. If there was a couple new units, I would, if there was more balanced units, I would. Instead, for every balance fix they made, they broke something else that didn't necessarily need changing at all. Highly doubt it's a coincidence that EVERY single thing featuring in a competitive build from last ed was either nerfed into unplayability or removed from the dex. The final result being, I have to pay $70 for a new codex (yup, thats how much it costs in Australia), and once I do that I can buy a whole bunch of different models from the old range of units, just to have a sensible list, without actually getting any news toys to play with at all either. What incentive is there for me to want to play with this new dex? A LoW is probably all it would have taken for me to grudgingly accept it, I know from past experience as a Nid player (they did the exact same thing with Nids, nerfed most the competitive core to useless trash), we were at least given Exocrine and Crones to play with as new models and GW graciously went easy on the nerfbat for our Flyrants. Everyone knows how badly that release was received, I genuinely feel like this one is worse.

I find it really annoying that they removed all those characters because they didn't have models, yet also released new models for characters who already had up-to-date models.

It's possible the Dark Eldar codex was made before the Ork, Grey Knight and Space Wolf codex, and before the idea of including LoW in codexes, but was moved down the release schedule. The upcoming Cron and BA codexes should tell us more.
On the other hand GW has been extremely reluctant to release named characters for 40k since they killed off finecast. Afaik only Grimnar received a new model (and two combi boxes which included a character: Ogryns and SW Venerable dread). WFB seems to get all the character love (and you could argue Santa Logan is a fantasy character ).

As many have already said, outside of Vect, a LoW just doesn't fit the DE army.
The absence of Vect is suspicious, and I for one want to believe that a 40K version of End Times is coming once all of the codexes are up to date. Now, whether or not this includes the 6th edition books I'm not sure. I wouldn't be shocked if GW redoes the 6th edition books to the 7th format eventually. This would also allow them the opportunity to adjust the power levels for those 6th edition books to bring them more in line with the 7th edition books, and they could do it without model releases.

No, they didn't do it because they were lazy
P.S. What do you mean "outside of Vect, a LoW just doesn't fit"? Nobody is saying that Sliscus should have been LoW, the statement being made here is that Vect was cut from the dex instead of being moved to LoW and that it shows the laziness and gives zero incentive to move to a new dex with not a single new unit, merely a bunch of nerfs to every bodies old army so that GW can move a bunch of old kits. Anyone supporting this release is the only reason GW gets away with this trash lool
