The eps are short, but the quality is superb. Best fan animation so far, bar none.

Another awesome episode, only minor thing that stood out for me was the insane BRRRRRRT rate of fire of the bolters and bolt pistol, but eh, doesn't ruin things. The fight itself was nicely done, no stupid camera cuts or the like.

The animations are incredible.

Utterly, utterly disappointed by how the boltgun is represented. An incredibly fast firing submachinegun, which is not how I understand the boltgun is supposed to be. Afaik, it's more akin to an automatic shotgun/grenade launcher.

And i mean, they got them right in episode three, why the hell change that? Meh...

Oh well, another wasted opportunity.

Next.

I can overlook the complaints about the bolter, it doesn't take much away from the overall scene, which is excellent.

Yeah, the full auto is not how I like my bolters, but I'm more then willing to overlook a very minor quibble for the overall product.

As an aside, my favourite depiction of bolters is actually from the old Fire Warrior video game. The single fire blow a guardsman up with a rocket hand cannon is the closest to how i've always imagined a bolter to be. The Space Marine game comes a not close, but not too far either 2nd.

Speaking of the bolters, the way the bolts were captured in those forcefields, the jets running for a few seconds until the rounds exploded, was brilliant! It's rare to see a bolter round actually represented as the self-propelled explosive round that it is described as in the fluff.

Yeah that was actually a nice touch.

And again, his depiction of the plasma pistol was rather well done. When the shot hits the force field and you get the distorted sound from the impact (I can't think of the actual term for it). Plus the massive energy wash of the force field and what have you. All together made for a nice representation of a gun with the power of a star.

This continues to be the best animation of 40k, on par with DoW cinematic, I’m serious.
The dynamics of motion and pacing is something to be amazed by no matter how many times you’ve seen it

Die Heretic! The best shot of the fourth video, so amazingly done and will hopefully be an inspiration for people to make their own Warhammer 40k fan films.

This is effing phenomenal. Perfect space marine representation. This is so crisp too. Love it when the marine caught in a psychic barrier breaks free and he instantly rips out the spinal device which was giving the psychic power.

Do...do people think the slower the RoF of a gun the stronger it is? Because that is the only reason I can see how someone would think a boltgun wouldn't have a high RoF when firing cyclic.

Wasn't the old lore that the typical bolter was instead burst fire and semiauto? Or was that just an option in addition to the full auto?

I was blown away by episode 4, as I have been by all the others so far.

I think the difference in rate of fire that we are seeing is based on situation. I think it has always been made clear in the lore that bolters can operate on semi- or full-auto. In episode 2 and 3, we are seeing marines shooting at single heretics who have armour that cannot possibly withstand a bolt round. With that knowledge and the marine's marksmanship, single shots are all that is necessary, and a good way to conserve ammo. When fighting a pair of psykers of unknown strength, it makes sense to go full-auto to attempt to take them down as quickly as possible.

It was in addition, iirc
Burst fire and semi is more commonly used for accuracy reasons, but if the marines wanted to go full auto they could.
Though it really depends on who you're reading.

You also see the red screen on the bolters react when they re-load. Could be setting to unleash 30 rounds with 1 trigger pull. Amazing video all around, the sound design is incredible and the level of detail in each shot is just masterful.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I assumed this was an example of Rapid Fire, note the marines have to brace the bolters and don't have pinpoint accuracy displayed earlier, instead hitting broad swaths along the shields. it stands in stark contrast to the controled and measured shots made up to that point.

All in all it was excellent, and the whole series up to this point has been very good.

Well they were using suppressing fire which is best done on full auto. The point was to make a distraction for the 2nd marine to slip in. They were not firing for accuracy, they were forcing the psyker's attention away.

Pretty classic diversionary play. Like a magician, pay attention to my left hand and not the right. Misdirection and feint are very effective ways to get your target to do what you want & not vice-versa.
