I think the red looks great, but for me the black is starting to look more grey with the damage. Maybe if the damage was metallic it would get back to the black?

Hello, been a while.

After a long difficult lockdown, I finally got back to painting. I finished off a batch of terminators keeping to the high-battle damage theme. I'm not too chuffed with how they turned out, but I'm glad to have got some experience with a new technique/approach under my belt.

Cant get any decent photos, but have a look.

Also, for the captain, I am trying a different approach altogether. I have ONLY painted the red and some skin so far, this is like 20%, but It's my first time learning how to glaze!! Janky, but ok for a first try. feedback appreciated.

Welcome back! We all hit bumps in the road and take breaks from painting.

The chipping highlights on the black look especially good and convey the rough use. You might consider marring the plastic to create texture in the flat-surface battle damage. Those painted parts are trying to depict big gouges, but there's no geometry there.

Thats a bloomin' great idea, why did I not think of that! Next time ill carve the slashes out for real!

My next models are super interesting. I've put together 5 champions that are super unique. I'm gonna go ham on the paintjobs (like i went ham on the bashing) so super excited for that.

Ayup, been a while. recently started at it again (I have insane amounts of models to paint).

I decided to start learning how to paint skin, so I've started painting my hordes of cultists with skin as the focus.
Looking for C&C and any pro tips! Also, anyone else find citadels skintone paints really weird to use? Super creamy and bitty and gross...

let me know what you think. I'm proud of it as a starting point!!

Those cultists are great minis, look great and pretty fun to paint. The skin looks good to me, it’s something I often struggle with too. The flames on the leader are great, and we’ll done on painting his head so well, I found it tricky to get a decent angle!
