lol, thanks for the compliment dude, but look at it this way, you won't ever have to see dozens if not hundreds of hours down the drain on just 6 minis lol!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Don´t use any other remover. The ones you´re listed are all oil based, and will melt the plastic and burn the paint.
Try to clean the model with alcohol and a cotton ball.
Easy strokes over the model.
The alcohol will remove the sealer and keep the paint intact, and most value thing , the alcohol don´t hurt the plastic.
By the way, once you finish the with the "sealer incident", take the rest of the alcohol, go to the sealer factory, and burn the damn place !!!
FF
PS: Pics to come.

Sorry to see that what has hapened to them. I would give advice if i knew anyway to help but my experince with modeling is not alot at the moment, sorry about that.

FF - alchohol added to the list, will be doing that one first tonight... so rough! the primary ingredient in the sealer can itself is acetone, so i am hoping that may work ok too if the alchohol doesn't clear it... send me some pretty Dante pics to make me feel better lol!
Thanks Kharn... it's rough!
So many details on those termies, doing them right takes forever not gonna lie... my only advice is brush on sealer lol!
I have new pics of some hybrids and the magus too, just holding off until this crisis is resolved lol

my dad has 50 years of modelmaking experience and has made every feth up named in the book of feth ups and he says the only thing he can think of , other than those sugested already, would be to heat the models really slowly and carefully as the sealent may have "bloomed", which usually happens in cold conditions. hope this helps and may the gods of miniature model making and painting aid you!

Thanks Azekio, heat was a thought I had too... I am not sure what way I would go about it though. I was considering boiling water, then rapidly dipping and removing them, spinning them to get the excess off. Logicially speaking, the is the quickest way to incrementally get uniform heat on it. Not sure open flame or anything like that will heat them up slow enough not to scorch or melt the plastic.
Does he have a different suggestion for applying the heat by chance?
Thanks a lot guys, I am really glad to be part of a community like this with so many people helping out, it's really humbling. Cheers!

i'd try hot water - go get a thermometer, do some tests starting from about 60 (pure speculation) or perhaps even a small amount of time in a pressure cooker - try to find if the gw plastic is thermoset or thermoplast plastic as one way will droop, one way will melt. can never remember which way. the oher option is perhaps using dettol to lift the top layer, as it might not penetrate the layer under? do a test perhaps. good luck!

Wow, really lousy luck. I've had a similar issue - on the test figure, thankfully. I think its humidity. I hate to say it but its hard to imagine being able to take it off without damaging the paint underneath - but you've shown amazing skills so maybe you can get it to work. Have you contacted the manufacturer? At the very least they should know what will dissolve their product, and maybe they have some engineer in a closet with just the right thing.

Contacting them for a solvent isnt a bad idea actually... will email them now -
I can say none of the solvents (alchohol, acetone, or mineral spirits) dissolved anything, looks like the sealer is more or less impervious... BUT, the mineral spirits soaked it, and when wet, the colors are back to normal. When it dries, back to dusty. This does tell me however, that the gloss sealer then dullcoat MAY work... gonna try to layer on the mineral spirits a few more time to see if it will eat away at it over time.
I can confirm there is hope! Gloss experiment on the way. Problem is, I will need to spray in the basement as the garage is obviously dangerous to say the least.

I have a suggestion. If you can find Future Floor finish and either dip or brush it on it will accomplish the same thing as the effect mineral spirits had above while wet but will remain permanent. The downside is it is highly glossy and you will be back to putting dullcoat on afterwards.
It is acrylic, self leveling to fill in all the roughness, and doesn't have any solvents that might effect the figures. It is also safe as long as you don't eat it.

Thanks Asmith, that is going on the test list too!
The gloss will be happening either way, so that's not neccesarily a problem, it will get dull-coated again.
The 2 issues to confirm/test are to make sure that A - The gloss coat is viscous/permeates enough to saturate the roughness and 'wet' it completely before it sets, ensuring maximum color recovery. B is to make sure that the resulting coat dries as thinly as possible in order not to have 2mm of varnish on the models.
Signs point to recovery though GG, none of the solvents put any kind of dent in the set purity seal, but as said, the mineral spirits, while still wet, revealed the original paint jobs almost perfectly, so its just a matter of finding something that will stay wet looking first.
Thanks so much to all of you, much appreciated!

I too support trying the gloss coat before resorting to removing anything.
When you go to do the dull-coat again, I suggest that you try using watered-down Modge Podge Matte-finish and brush it on. I do this with my own miniatures because I do not trust the sprays, as I too have felt your pain! (Ok, it was when I was a teenager back in 2000 and I had some crappy models I had spent all of a half hour painting... but still!)
Good luck though, those models were much to pretty to be lost to spray mishaps :(

On the subject of heat... Have you considered just a hair dryer? They can actually get very hot if you focus them on one spot long enough (too hot to touch), but probably a lot slower and easier to control than a heat gun. Also has the advantage of being dry heat.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't use any of those solvents on this.
Do a search. This HAS been discussed before.
Hitting it with a coat of gloss should remove the white. After that has dried 24 hours, hit it with Matte again.
More than likely, you sprayed in a very humid or very hot (or very BOTH) environment. Those are the typical causes.
Don't blame the sealant.

Major Tom Mission malfuntion... That F-ing blows man.
One thing I learned recently from having a similiar experience of working my hiny off on a models for hours upon hours and I got a light frost on my model (not as bad as what I see in your pics) I hit the model again with sealer then I immediately rushed the model into my basement which is a nice cool consistent temperature. I've even read some guys thow there models in the fridge right after spraying (again a totally controlled environment) I have sworn from now on to only brush on varnishes when working with showpice models...
Hope something helps those models are gorgeous.
Good luck

You could also try picking up a heat gun (think overcharged hair dryer)
See: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-9756-Dual-Temperature/dp/B0000302U8
Or maybe even a regular hair dryer could heat it up.
But I think the best bet from what I've heard is the additional sealer.

No.
No heat guns or hair dryers.
You don't want to melt the miniature.
Spray the mini in a temperate environment. Don't put it in your fridge after.
In a pinch, I've set a large carboard box up on the stove when everyone was away, with the vent fan running, and sprayed in the kitchen. Basically, you want the box to have 4 sides (left, right, back & bottom). The front should be open so you can spray the models (of course), and the top should be open for ealier venting of fumes.
I strongly suggest you get permission from She Who Must Be Obeyed -or, at least, warn her a day in advance- before doing that, however.

Things finally cooled off here, so I gave the last series of fixes a go. Of all the fixes tried, the winner as stated by many: a simple-respray with gloss coat seems to have fixed them up back to just about 100%!
Will post pics when they finish drying off...
